EVE Online: Invasion - General Feedback

Funny that. Seems like I was right again…

you nailed it.

ba dam dam tush. no invasion spawn either.

Not only that but we are in faction war so we can’t enter half of high sec, I wish they made some spawn in low sec.

So just want to say, thanks for wasting half of my weekend that I had available to run invasions…very poorly executed. No player testing done on sisi, obviously no mass testing done behind closed doors. Its far too easy for all of your efforts to be in vain when a ninja salvager comes along and takes your scrap(granted I actually didn’t run into this problem). Really just disappointed…

Clearly CCP isn’t reading this thread, no once has answered or commented since it was put up.

If the triglavians were smart they would (for their 1st phase) divide null and high sec by invading low sec and spilling into the adjacent 0.5 systems, its (low sec) fairly vacant and therefore easist place to establish a beach head, it also would be putting the content in a middle ground

For those of you who had the time to experience the invasions, what are your opinions?

Are they fun?
Do you think that they will have a positive impact on the game world? Make hi space more dynamic and interesting?

Look mommy it’s Pluto! And there’s Goofy! Weeeeeeee…I’m having so much fun! Weeeeeeee.

I don’t know what the other phases of the invasion are going to bring. But the current phase is boring and unrewarding.

Unless you ninja salvage! Then its…

As a first impression, this is a bit meh.

I’d normally think of an expansion starting with a big bang. Wow the players with further iterations to add depth.

So if that initial release is the big bang, this is going to whimper pretty quickly.

Unfortunate, because there’s a lot of potential.

As is the current expansion is on par with rancid effluent that’s recently poured out of a dead baboons backside.

Seriously i’ve not been this disappointed since Incarna.

Sounds like all the bitter vets found their way into this one.

For what it is, it’s fun. It’s already done something I did not think possible. I made high sec players fleet up with strangers and fight off the invasion despite there is little real benefit for (ISK wise) for doing so.

That alone makes it a win in my book.

Yes, it’s not great ISK/hr.
Yes if your a null bear you have to jump clone.
Yes, you can make life ISK doing level 4 missions.

Fleeting up with new people doing new things is fun.

As for the “start with a bang” comment, this was specifically billed as Chapter one.
If you have ever read a book before, stories generally start slow to introduce you to the content and then build.

I think it’s great.

I don’t think highsec systems have been this lively in ages. It’s also a nice way to shake up some of the dull monotony of the safest region in the game. Now people actually have to pay attention instead of idly just auto-piloting for days.

Yeah I’ve read one or two, and the difference between the good ones and the not so good ones is that the good ones keep you turning the pages. They start strong, even with story development throughout.

There’s nothing bitter about not being blown away by invasions so far, and having an opinion doesn’t make someone bitter. I love EVE, even though I think this particular content will peeter out to be like incursions based on what’s been presented so far - an inconvenience that relegates itself to niche play.

I hope I’m wrong, but just don’t see it at the moment, despite the huge potential that is there.

@Scipio_Artelius, it was this type of comment I was referring to, and those that agreed with it.

More than 10 years in Eve has thought me to take any promise from CCP with a grain of salt, but they have said that the story will deepen with the following “chapters” and I choose to look at the content in that light.

Last night in Onnamon there were almost 200 people in at least two different fleets of randoms working the content. I did not look, but the perimeter systems seem to draw even higher numbers.

If CCP’s goal is still to entice new (high sec) players into null space, this has done more to ease them into it than any other new content I can think of in a decade.

Mid size fleet action against NPC’s will leave them hungry for more if they like it. The place to get more is in Null against players.

If this is all invasions manage to do, it’s a huge win in my opinion.

I found it to be fun and hectic. The NPC spawns are no joke but almost all the ISK being tied to salvage has totally ruined it for me.

All the systems are full of low lives. Like swarms of flies at the dump. It’s a major turnoff.

Not much to do unless one joins a fleet. The invasion is rather frenetic, the Triglavian NPCs are like locusts on crack. Poked my nose inside with a covops, got lucky with salvage at some gates.

Delonewolf has a utube video, and the Tri’s are death on drones, so drones boats are out. (Gila, Ishtar, Dominix, etc.) No real continuity to the whole thing yet, just random systems few and very far between.
