EVE Online – July Status Update

FW. Need I say more?

Hello CCP,
you won’t see this comment but I’ll type it anyway. I’m back since 2019, and I think you deeply lack of communication. Usually, you announce the yearly plan during the fanfest, but due to covid no fanfest (that I understand). This year and the previous one, nothing has been announce, nothing has been done to communicate with us, players. So I recommand you to start announcing your plan (because that announce is not a communication, it’s a quick answer to angry players) so that we can really debate. Don’t hire a monetization designer https://twitter.com/CCPGames/status/1417846966856335360 , hire a CM.

lol :joy: :joy:

Remember this game is has two unique reputations “Lol spreadsheet simulator” or “that game with a boatload of psychotic players.” Occasionally I got the “EVE is too complex” excuse when I was trying to get friends to play but the most common excuse is akin to “I don’t want to play with a bunch of psychotic lunatics”. With that type of reputation encouraged by the game, getting new blood to try out the game is a challenge in and of itself.

Annoying your established playerbase is generally a good way to put oneself in a deep pit.

So many new experiences, yet anyone who joins, and nearly 50%, of these new players want to just solo Eve life. But to do so leaves them blank and frustrated, so they must join a corp and not enjoy a wonderful game ala solo. It could be beneficial to Eve to to show off new or veteran solo players who find their value as important as a corp, to enjoy a solo life that attains value, stardom, popularity, in some way other than player corp experience, alliance, nullsec, etc.

It should be just as grand to be Solo (many times much more difficult than multi or corp.) Why not reward these players.

That loss feels like a hold back for so many solo players who enjoy the challenges of solo’s self importance. By not doing so this limits Eve’s ability to create substantial new or veteran starlight solo players. Soaking up what eve has to offer (other than multi corps and alliances) would potentially open up further in game ideas for solo players who are not interested in mass alliances and prove their self solo worth.

I agree with this part, the status update is not a roadmap reveal (cept for a bit of teasers), and so it’s a post full of “self-justifying” words on how CCP’s current team have made Eve a “vibrant” game universe since the past 2’ish years. With a whole ton of metrics they will not openly share as per “desired effect deemed overly satisfactory via internal assessment”.

Well, this is the worst part, as some players have already said over and over that they are sooooo eagerly to spend their CC left and right across many topics, this is a pretty bold step openly admit…as per the job description:

To milk the customers and exploit all possible areas of Eve that can be used for milking the customers.

Call me a salty carebear, but I guess after seeing this (Thank you @Dean_Dewitt for noticing, I don’t use twitter) I’m officially tender my resignation to the CEO of Pro Synergy due to such disappointment on Eve, all offices will be closed now until someone else take over.

Also, nobody can have my stuff, I would highly prefer to do Eve one last favour if necessary by depleting my insignificant amount of stockpile by biomassing and add to their “desired” depletion target rather than let them poison the ecosystem if that’s the way CCP likes to put it.

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been listening to you, our community

I read this and went “Nice! They’re apologizing for the aggressive monetization of newbies losing a ship and promised to stop”

Did you stop already and I missed it?

Maybe the knowledge of where all the ores are ( were ) ?
Maybe the knowledge of what it takes (took) to manufacture ships?
Maybe the knowledge of what used to be compared to what is?
As things change we have to purge certain conceptions of what was and acquire new ones of what is and what may be…

It’s still in the belts and anoms. Just less quantity and variety. The rest is on Jita.

90% of ships have zero changes in that regard. I’ll just have to roll without the rest.

Spreadsheets do not age.

“Sitting on your stockpile waiting when STUPID ends is the best move” conception only got reinforced.

What this game REALLY needs is the ability to properly spin supers in keepstars, instead of just rotating the camera on a vertical axis.

Well, I guess the best thing for you to do is to biomass and uninstall.
Can I have your stuff, please?

the problem is the ppl who say these things from the coders upwards are forgetting they have there asses on their shoulders. i mean “The current state of T2 ship industry is good and there are no plans on making any immediate changes on that front.” are they actually looking at the market and what it costs to build one, be it sub cap or capital the prices have gone up so much to build that as you say ppl are no longer paying these prices and fleets are no longer using them.
it seems to me that if its good then its only good for the destruction of T2 building as i know several big cap builder who have shut down production altogether with no intentions of starting back up so way to go CCP we will await the announcement that you realise you have got it wrong ( AGAIN ).

You can hunt this instead: Related Kills | PDE-U3 | 2018-11-10 21:00 | zKillboard

This will return once the Rorqual has been limited to one active Indu Core instance per resource field and it will be much more satisfying to hunt than Rorquals that you cannot kill.

I am still at a loss as to why CCP didn’t just introduce something new, like cybernetic components required for BS and above, with the source of materials to build them being only found in a new type of anomaly. The anomaly would spawn but not open for 24 hours, giving people time to set up fleets for mining, defending, logi, ganking, etc. Lots of content to get this rare material. Avoid this whole “scarcity” depression days dustbowl ■■■■■■■■. It would make BS and above harder/ more expensive to build, create lots of content (multi-sided battles to mine the materials and then get out safely past ganker fleets), and reduce the willingness to create large fleets of capital and super-capital fleets.

Instead, y’all just about killed mining and manufacturing, and drove away a lot of the folks who made the whole “player-driven economy” thing real.

That’s the beauty about the Rorqual. No high sec miner will be hit. I am indiffferent to the Orca but I am sure Rattati will find ways to mess up both. And then put the blame on the players.

I agree with this, ESS meta is pretty terrible it gives free intel for minutes and perfect opportunity to reship to a perfect counter. Some of the best fights happen without time to reship to a counter where you have to seize the opportunity before it is gone in what ever you happen to be flying at the time.

But I would add that the npc’s damage should be reduces so that those sites can be run in a pvp ship and be able to fight hostiles that enter the site, nothing worse than a site that does 800 dps forcing you into something that is unable to fight back when a player comes in.

@CCP_Swift Wasn’t it CCP’s intended goal just a few months ago to keep us in the dark so that get a sense of discovery and wonder? (paraphrased from Rattati)
