EVE portraits - share tricks, and share yours!

I tried it during christmas. It’s pretty unique with those glowing parts on it, and with the right background and lighting I think it can look awesome. However, my pilot didn’t feel comfortable in it. He’s more of a dark-suit guy. Will have to try it on another character some time. I didn’t get the background right either.

Nice portrait…

However, the Semiotique Superluminal Apparel actually first appeared in this thread during September 2022…

Course the Semiotigue Apparel line made it’s initial New Eden premier in this thread during December 2021…

Yeah exactly, it’s super rare.

I like the suit, I rarely see it in portraits.

So…I updated one of my characters before bed last night:

Jason had a bit of a makeover.

Looks like your character too went away and to bed by the time the picture was taken.

Not him, gladly. It’s one old scanning alt of mine. I ended up resculpting him last night. He was the 2nd character I created in this game (from 2010) and back when I made him, I didn’t put much effort in.

This is what he looked like prior to resculpt:

That was the only angle he looked good at. I was never happy with the way he looked, other than that profile shot. But a good profile it was. I just got tired of it. I could not use any other camera angle on him, it just didn’t work. Those two images are deceptive, it looks like a nice handsome guy on them, but once you turned him face-on, he looked like a total half-wit. I guess it’s obvious how crucial the angle in combination with (low) light and shadows is in transforming the looks of a character.

This is his new look, now with more thought gone into it:

This is the new portrait, which now has finally updated:

spooky =^_^=

Since I have quite a few Apparel items in my collection, I decided to do something different with my Female alt character portraits…

For those who don’t know, there’s a 3-piece Women’s Apparel series in-game called ‘Eternity’ which consists of an Outerwear (Sleeve’s & Collar), Bottoms (Bodysuit) and Footwear (Boots)…

The 3-piece ‘Eternity’ Apparel series is available in 5 different colors:

  1. Black/Gold
  2. Black/Red
  3. Olive
  4. White
  5. Yellow

What some may not know is that Women’s ‘Tops’ can also be added to the 3-piece ‘Eternity’ Apparel series turning it into a 4-piece Apparel set… So I basically mixed and matched the ‘Eternity’ Apparel with various ‘Tops’ and ‘Footwear’ to come up with some new Apparel ensemble’s for their portraits…

I did that with all 5 ‘Eternity’ colors and was able to set most of them up with matched ‘Top’ and ‘Footwear’ to contrast / off-set the ‘Eternity’ colors… My tip for this post is it’s okay to mix up Apparel items even if they’ve been released as a matched set…

Anyway, here’s their portraits followed with a full body view…

Do you have any alts that won’t have back pain later in life?

So the only thing you can contribute to the forum topic is lame sarcasm on what others post?

To be honest I thought it was a nice joke.
(I noticed it too.)

Joke aside, nice suits!

Nice smirk!

Always good to see people change their character’s expression a bit from the dead default stare.

If you’re open to advice, I would try some more light options and maybe hair colours, the current combination of light and hair seems to take all depth out.

Gasephed Sinak, this thread is about modifying your EVE portraits within the game, not AI pictures.

If you want to share AI pictures you could make your own thread!

But please do feel free to read this thread and take some of it’s advice; your current portrait is a perfect example of a default zero effort face with dead stare commonly associated with forum alts and other low-effort characters.

Hey maybe he worked hard and took long hours to create it. I guess better term would be to call it low quality instead.

Fair enough on keeping the thread focused on in-game portraits.

As for the rest, the portrait isn’t the point. Arguments stand or fall on their content, not on how much time someone spends adjusting cheekbones and lighting.

If you have anything to add about the mechanics or design discussion, I’m interested. Otherwise, we can stay on topic.
