Event Feedback - Guardian's Gala 2019

When i began eve i’ve been told : CCP listens to the player Community
I was like : oh amazing

Now I know it was a lie

Who told you that lie?

Gala sites dont even seem to be showing up now, the other day I was finding them in abundance, last night I searched about 10 systems over and couldnt find a single Gala site.

Well ive just discovered Abyssals with a friend so I guess il just do those instead.

Really CCP I know we often get very passionate with the feedback but there are some very simple fixes that are needed for the Gala Event and im surprised you havent done anything.

This is an awful human psychology manipulation that is often abused by gambling organizers - when people hear that someone “won” something they tend to think that there is a chance and they can “get lucky” too which leads to more gambling and more profit for the “house”.

Why should we gave them feedback how to skin us? Lootboxes is nowhere near fun for players. It’s social behaviour exploit that serves only the other side. Events are less and less fun. Now they are test enviroment to prove how deep they can monetize sandbox. If they push it harder they will kill the community, with community shift eve will be dead.

Of course, because it is fun. Such psychology appeals to our base instincts of greed and the rush of winning. It allows people to dream and encourages them to play the game. Sure, real-world casinos and lotteries set the odds in their favour to prey on the statistically ignorant, but CCP doesn’t have to set the loot table that way and it could, and should actually be in favour of playing.

But as it is you are buying tickets with real costs to win something unknown which because of the lottery nature of it, you lose most times. Many people will give up after a few losses, and with no way to know what can be won, probably rightly so.

wishful thinking.

Revealing lootbox contents and chances will take away from “fun”.

Its not worth the time, this coming from person that used eve.bet to place bets on football matches to win multiple billions of ISK.
What CCP made is a direct ISK sink, with exchange for stuff that is not ISK. That may have worked if not for the price and additional items. It feels clearly too expensive for an event lottery ticket.

If you really want to get a response, create a petition and spread the “loot box fiasco” over social media, gaming sites, gaming magazine sites, contact bloggers, etc… Nothing will get CCP’s attention faster than a mound of negative press.

Boycotting events is the other option, but almost impossible to do since most players do not pay attention to the forums or Reddit.

Otherwise, this is the “new” EVE and it will only get worse, so you better get used to it. It’s ALL about the money folks!

@ Tater-nuts On day one I contacted Yongyea, Jim Stirling and the quartering.

No, I think it is the opposite. You need to dangle a prize carrot to get people excited to play. Otherwise, unless they hit a big prize in their first couple tries, they will give up.

I can imagine though if they saw those around them winning, or somehow knew what was being given out, they would have much more fun rolling the dice for jackpot loot.

Well to be fair, you don’t know that unless you have played the loot lotto a couple hundred times. Sure, I’ll accept playing a game of chance where you don’t know the expected outcomes or even potential prizes isn’t fun, but it could be worth it depending how CCP set up the loot table.

Theoretically, with perfect knowledge, the players would bid up the materials necessary to play the loot lotto to the expected payout of the mini-game. However, given the loot table is opaque to the players, I am not sure that will happen. Perhaps a few big rollers will invest a lot to get a good approximation of the payout of the system and then buy up any underpriced tickets and minerals, but I have a feeling most players will give up after a short bit unless they catch a big early win as it is not fun to lose 8 times in a row, even if there is a small chance of hitting a jackpot payout (and one that you have no idea what it is).

Either they need to somehow make the gambling part more fun and give the players agency or the illusion of agency, or lower the cost so that people are willing to impulsively play as they don’t notice the losses of pulling the slot machine handle.

Stop being delusional, because the answer is in the thread already:

Be careful, no need of getting paranoid…!

btw. special events and regular EvE are two different things, here we‘re talking about the new event.

I will try not to be disappointed

This event was a trial for loot boxes and player reaction to loot boxes and this will spread into other aspects of EVE over time, including “regular EVE”.

I am not paranoid, it’s the way PA operates their business. If anyone believes that CCP are still in total control (100%) of how EVE is run and developed, I would call them very naive.

CCP (read PA) told that they will change ratting to be harder AFK and BOTing.
And now we have perfect new ratting system in test :frowning:

I can understand your worries but i‘m sure that this will never happen, CCP will never let EvE down.

Hi,

This event is miserable and I feel a fool to have spend about 2 days doing it. I’m isk negative after about 30 crates and have spent quite a lot on fitting ships, drones and ammo.

But it’s not the isk per se. I enjoyed the previous events for the plentiful skin drops and accelerators and the PvE challenge of finding the right fits and tactics.

This event has no such enjoyment. Just hard to find sites with rubbish rewards in loot boxes.

I’ll give up on this game if this is the future.

As of 16-FEB-19, Agency tasks are still not reloading for me.

5 days in and we still have no fix?
