Good to see you, @CCP_Dragon and thanks for popping on to say hello. I seriously can’t overstate how much it means to see devs pop onto the forums, even if it’s just to say hi. At least it lets us know that somebody is reading and actually keeping up on what the community is saying.
Man, I totally feel that. I really get that the forums generally become a place for whining and venting and can definitely become a “no good deed goes unpunished” zone. That’s definitely a crappy environment for a dev to walk into and I’m sure can seem like a no-win situation where a comment might just invite more vitriol and piling-on. Nobody wants to be told that their work sucks and have to defend it to a bunch of pissed off people. I’ve been there, I get it.
That said, there’s a lot of frustration here that is born out of:
- Bugs that seem to be going unpatched or keep coming back.
- More responses from CCP popping up on Reddit than the official forum thread
- A brewing PR mess stemming from a lot of the issues that are coming up here and aren’t even getting a “Yep, that’s intentional” reply.
Personally, I’m not asking anybody from CCP to show up so I can kick them (though I’m sure others disagree). The more reasonable and less emotional of us here would really just like to know that somebody is listening and hopefully have a constructive dialog.
I hope your new team is treating you well and you are working on stuff you enjoy, and thanks again for posting.
