Not necessarily. People are getting popped simply warping into the site… I wanted to see what happened in the site, took a low-skilled character into the pocket in a Venture and was blown up by the invisible cloud while in warp to the site. I entered warp in a Venture and exited warp in a pod. Several others have reported the same thing. If I was a new player I would have been massively upset.

Curious, did you warp to bookmark/fleet member or did you use the acceleration gate?
Wondering if accel gate means no cloud.

And this clearly is not happening to everybody, but, it’s happened enough that something is definitely amiss. And what bugs me the most is that at least one of these sites spawned in Couster- a Career Agent system- so a new player who just wrapped up a chain to earn a shiny new Venture could easily have encountered that. Not cool.

I have no issue with getting popped in a site- new player or not, but you should not be killed in-warp like that in an event site.

Its strange that this never happens in abyss, when jumping into it. Probably something new was tried by CCP, and as usual, its buggy.

I really hope you’re wrong, but that would make sense.

The grid/boundary of the west room (or all rooms?) is strange - it is not a sphere but a shape of flying saucer: about 200km radius height from the beacon and 300-500km radius wide.

Getting hit by the cloud during warp-ins happens often enough to be a problem - you can get hit 1-3 times for a damage ranging from 250 to 450 each hit. Any active/speed (without MSE/plate) tanked t1 frigate that feel at ease against rats will often get killed by this cloud.

The 1000km radius gas clouds is a newbie trap as well - should they choose to orbit it at any distance - they WILL be hit by invisible cloud eventually.

Small sample size, so if anyone else cares to try it out : Using a venture.

5 times using acceleration gate - 0 damage apart from rats at the gate.
5 times warping to fleet already in site - took cloud damage all 5 times

I will make a support ticket regarding the tasks not expiring, and treat it as a bug. So far is day 4 and I am stuck on tasks I cannot complete unless I train mining skills and do something I do not want to do on my main character/gameplay. Hopefully I will receive an answer in time that will let me know if this is intended.
So far to get the skins I have the options to train/inject/grind like a madman tens of hours doing something I do not want in order to get “free event skins”, or pay NES plex prices to other players for said “free skins”.

Yeah, again, this is clearly not happening all the time and may actually be exceedingly rare. But it is happening. It’s interesting that you are getting hit going to a bookmark.

I’m inclined to agree with @Nana_Skalski and something unintended happened when reusing the code from the Abyss.

Also, I have not tried this today since DT so it might be being worked on or may be fixed.

There is this kind of toxic clouds in drifter data caches. They do massive amount of damage if you come into them or when you warp thru them. Maybe CCP got them around the site. :thinking:

Yeah, totally could be. I have no issue with the cloud or area effects as part of the pocket- it’s the “Die with no warning while warping in” thing that gets to me.

I just killed a Centurion in a Jaguar with Rockets and small drones and it didn’t count toward the mission using small weapons. Buggy.

Also a module that combines relic and data analyzer… why does it require 2 relic analyzers instead of one of each relic and data?

I was going to reply saying it’s a bit silly not being able to use half of a frigates weapon systems. As I’ve been waiting over 40 minutes for another BS to spawn and it hasn’t it’s all irrelevant.

After 4 days of trying to do this event, training new skills and buying new ships, I’ve now run out of time and need to quit it. I’ve managed to get to 496 points. If this is the direction events are going in then I’ll give them a miss in the future.

I killed a bunch of the rats in the sites, got only the usual low end rat stuff and no bounties. Not really worth the time. I usually dont complain about events but this time around it just doesnt seem that great :/. It’s pretty though at least.

The recent changes to the event fixed some things, but something is remaining unoptimized:

  1. Luminosity of the horizon. You must inform players somehow to set the Post Processing to High and to disable the Camera Shake effect from the Display&Graphic configuration menu. Otherwise, its should be a good idea to optimize those ‘horizon’ effects on shader levels for none optimized video cards or old ones. For example:
  • view with Post Processing: Low
    pp-low

  • view with Post Processing: High
    pp-high

  • In the harvesting site (East West room) with PP:Low/None is near impossible to do something and to stay for long time.

Summary

  1. Enable the possibility do disable or reset unfavorable missions, like once per day. Some of those missions are a way to hard to complete during this event.

  2. Its an Abyssal site model or something, because if we are too far away from the center of the area, we taking area effect damage (significant). It can happen when we jumping through West/East gates respectively. Sometimes it happens while Gas harvesting - suddenly your ship appears 450km away under corrosive area damage.

  3. Optimize Gas harvesting process, like improve the harvested amount per cycle. Allow it for none mining ships, because in an optimized ORE frigates it’s very hard and risky to perform, considering the area damage effects.

Overall, the East and North sites on maximum graphical settings looks good. It’s first low orbital environment in EVE, if I’m not wrong. But the feeling that this isn’t a planet but a elliptical disk persists.
