After 4 days we still cant make contracts for the accelerator bpc’s however we can make contracts for the accelerators “implants”. Totally!

Overall great Event, having lots of fun especially with spawning out of warp right away, appearing on d-scan 65AU away from other and my entire screen turning white a day ago was also top notch feeling.

System: Maurasi, took acceleration gate to west room.
I can clearly see how players can get their ship destroyed mid-warp, CCP doesnt (it seems).
Why 4 types of accelerators? Because one is the best, other is for people that don’t want to login every other day, one is the default, and the basic is the first attempt to nerf the free sp they give, perhaps when they realized how much subscription time is being skipped. So they made the “Basic” which is useless, and flooded the drop rates with it. Last event people had hundreds of “Basic” bpc’s and 1-2 advanced or extended.
However that wasn’t enough, so alongside “Basic” useless variant flood, they made it into a bpc and called it “inclusive”. Because as a pve’r you have to mine or buy ore and materials (that did not drop in the event itself at the beginning). Or as a miner, you would have to train to kill rats. Either way you couldn’t make the booster yourself by doing just 1 thing alone.
Even so, people got their booster fix, numbers were checked, hence on this event, difficulty and grindyness were cranked up, drop rates kicked in the joints and all thrown into this skeletal project they probably found on someone’s desk, with little to no testing.
After 4 days, I will comment my last here. As of right now I have the following missions locking my progress down:
I found perfect conditions. 2 fast and strong accessible fittings, no one contesting the site in safety. Killed a lot of battleships today, got only 2 basic booster bpc’s and a bunch of new modules selling for 1/3 of their estimated price. Please do not listen to the people telling you how many billions they made with this event, tomorrow those won’t be billions, and getting there requires braindead level of grind. Do something else with your holidays, such as time with family, watch something nice. I for one, will wait on my bug report and maybe telling me why I’m not allowed to continue with the event unless I jump random hoops. Or watch the new eve pulse video, with its holiday greetings next to 30 seconds of commercial for the new NES skins. Or maybe the last Eve Pulse, trying to guess from CCP’s Falcon’s body language if he knew about this debacle, when he announced the event. Merry Christmas, don’t stay up too late. o7

I just want to say thanks and Merry Christmas to the support team who has to sort through all this crap during the Christmas season.
The event, for better or worse has put a heavy load on them (I assume) at a time of year when they should be at home with their families.
Everyone seems to hate them, but they have been more than fair with me and after 10 years of pay to play, they are one of the things that keep me here. I just wanted to say thanks for shouldering this burden for all of us who piss, whine, cry, lie, brag, cheat, bot, scam, get drunk and do drugs to the point where they forgot where they parked their ships.

Do you guys plan to implement some hotfixes and extend this event?
It’s the first eve event I deliberately decided not to do. I can also see others are making the same choice, the event sites in the entire region are empty, noone is running it as it’s a waste of time.
The battleships loot drop rate is super small. I got 1 module and 0 cerebral accelerators bpcs after killing 15 battleships. And it took more than 2 hours of waiting for em to respawn (compared of 5 minutes for site respawn for the previous event).
I can’t progress with points at all cause all 6 quests I got cannot be completed. You ask me to sell some modules I don’t have or mine or use small weapons on battlesship rats. It’s ridicolous.
There is no differentiation of rewards between nullsec, lowsec and hisec. Some of the best events were fun to run in lowsec or nullsec as higher risk of losing your ship with better rewards. Now you can just stay invulnerable in hisec and get same rewards as people who risk a lot.
All the small frigate and cruiser rats drop meta modules and metal scraps. It’s useless to loot em or deploy an mtu.
Please go back to the previous formula that players enjoyed. Stop the stupid agency missions, stop with forcing people to click ‘claim’ reward, stop with rewarding hisec players, stop with putting some obligatory mining/hacking quests, stop with npcs not dropping any loot, stop with forcing players to craft accelerators from blueprints.
Just make any event like before: add 5 min respawning sites in every system, put some hard to kill boss rat that drops accelerators (not the freaking blueprints) and skins, put smaller rats that drop combat boosters and skins and make 3 tiers of the event sites for the hisec, lowsec and nullsec. Then put more dangerous rats and better rewards in null tier, medium rats and medium rewards in lowsec and easy rats and little rewards in hisec. Boom.
I keep looking for the event ore to mine in West Gate, but by the time of day that I get to it, it’s all depleted. I see a few ventures harvesting gas but I never see any active miners or any event asteroids. I can’t complete the ore related activities. Oh well.
You die cus of cloud only if you warp into the site via your bookmark. If you warp to the beacon and than use warp gate, cloud won’t hit you.
Of course he knew. Falcon would not expect less, from us and his employer.
I haven’t researched the event, so keep that in mind when reading my opinion below. I tried to figure it out for myself, and it didn’t go well.
I didn’t have much luck with unlocking the skins and prizes. The goals of “Examine the north, west, east gates” never worked out for me. I used all three gates. And then I figured I would show info on them, which is basically a way of examining them, right? Nothing worked, no idea what goals lie behind those, and it’s not worth my time to research it.
My experience with the central gate (north?) is that it’s combat focused. I found it really annoying to have to warp to wrecks to move back and forth hundreds of kilometers. I did complete several goals here while destroying the enemy ships, until my goal became “destroy a battleship with S weapons”. I consider this to be a tedious, time wasting chore. I did loot some stuff off of the battleships that spawn, and found that they spawned way too infrequently. I waited for 15 minutes after destroying some battleships with nothing to do. The loot was valuable though, probably because very few people are doing the event. So that’s the end of that gate, I consider it a waste of time. I could have done plenty of other things that are more fun and profitable.
The right (east?) gate lead to a hacking site (I think). I was flying a shield tanker, and didn’t want to use a midslot for whatever module is needed to engage in the site. I considered reshipping, but decided that a few event points wouldn’t be worth the effort. End of fun, end of site.
The left (west?) gate had the gas cloud. It also had a few cruisers and frigates waiting to pop whatever ship decided to enter it and attempt mining gas. I could have cleared the immediate area and brought a different ship to mine the gas, or fitted a ship that could do both. Once again, this seemed really tedious and anti fun so I didn’t do it.
Overall, the event was a downer. I’m not really sure what the intention was when designing these sites. It seemed like it was geared for a small gang of people, but still seemed mechanically slow and unrewarding. Kudos to whoever gets that megathron skin.
That does make a lot of sense. I hope they will take my non interest (aside from seeing how bad the white glare was) as a message the event was flawed.
I am pretty sure the difference between Hisec and Nullsec is the accelerators with only Null being able to loot the advanced accelerators or the extendeds.
Btw CCP when you are trying to show your skins on EvE Pulse for people to see it helps to actually look at the ship for longer than a second or two. That frigate shot was so fast I didn’t actually see anything on it.
Out of six of the tasks I have set the only one I have the skills to do is hack 55 Nodes, this event is a complete fail for me. I’ve managed to get to 566 Points.
You need to use the “Look At” eye on each gate to complete the “Examine Gate” activities.
First of all, thank you CCP for this event. While at the beginning I was sceptical about this event as it is not really streight foreward, I now really like it as it encourages out-of-the-box thinking.
I’m actually huffing the gas for the first time right now in three prospects… pretty easy, just slowboating away from the evil cruiser and taking minimal damage from the frigs as I huff.
But even so… amen to that. I will try the ore mining and the data hacking next (already did the combat on Monday night with a WH fleet, finally out in HS to try all the rest of the content now that the data cans aren’t 1-time-only hacks and all), but from the sounds of this thread… selling off our mission loot? killing NPCs (k) and players (um) in our mining ships? … whaaaaa… and the whole medium/small weapon thing. If you didn’t want BSes in the event sites, CCP, why not just exclude them from taking the accel gates? (yeah yeah, not deadspace so they could warp in anyway to a fleetmate or bookmark… but make the cloud damage penalty higher for people not using the gates then, whatever)
At least with the Shadow of the Serpent event when there were “kill 10 drifters” or “complete an incursion” (aka pop the mom) task that people couldn’t or didn’t want to do, the task would expire after 22 hours or so and we’d get new tasks the next day at the latest. Plus it was a 40 day event, so no rush.
So what I’m getting from you (and others here)… is that we should all give up our dreams of 1 Megathron Permafrost skin per account, eh?
A shame. The few on market are gonna be overpriced af due to the severity of grind/difficulty of completing all the necessary tasks for all those points since the chain tasks don’t chain as they have in the past where they’re repeatable (either multiple times a day as in the case of some events, or at least once per day, as in other events). Ah well. Glad I at least already have 3 Police Megathrons for hole rolling, then… no Permafrost for me… but woulda been nice for variety’s sake.
Certainly its original take on the PvE site building by devs, but I would call it an effect of out-of-your-mind attitude.
