There has been quite a bit of feedback in the negative, and I agree to a point. Some of us misread the emails, adverts, and missed out on some time to claim the last or last few rewards.
Here is the thing that I noticed, for me the event ended on the 19th. There was no physical way for me to claim the last reward.
The 19th was exactly when this event ended, not the 20th as advertised, the 19th.
Personally, I am not upset. Macro-wise, this was not exactly the best marketing I could have seen, but still in the end it was a large amount of gifts that we could have not seen otherwise.
As it stands, the event timer for me ended on the 19th and did not allow the player to claim the last day (20th) and was in general poor taste.
The mass reply, poor taste.
And the “As mechanics have been intended to work” poor taste.
One event down, and now we know how they do business. Worse comes to worst, we plan better for next year.
Are you telling me that you misunderstood that sentence to mean that you would get all 16 of the omega gifts, instantly, if you upgraded from alpha to omega at any time during the event?
again i logged every single day as the message on the start sayed….
Join the celebrations for Eve Online 16s Anniversary with the 16 DAY login event! Get free gifts for loggin in on 16 different DAYS between 2 and 20 May, and they dont even need to be consecutive,
You upgrade [say] three days in. You get to claim the previous gifts which then brings you up to date and allows you to claim the remaining gifts in the time left.
And scrolling through the thread, I’m not the only one.
The bottom line is that it doesn’t matter to CCP. They could quite easily have given the gifts to everyone who upgraded to Omega during the event and it wouldn’t actually have cost them anything. They’ve got our money.
They’ve admitted the timescale may have been too short but don’t have the decency to do anything about it. They could fix this easily by saying “Sorry folks, we didn’t word this very well and the timescale was a bit short so as a gesture of goodwill, anyone who upgraded to Omega during the duration will get any gifts they missed added to their redeem queue”.
You could get the last reward after the downtime on the 19th.
But you could also get it before downtime on the 20th.
So if you, by chance, were busy on the 19th, you could claim it on the 20th.
And it makes sense. It says the event ends on the 20th. If it went from the downtime on the 20th to the downtime on the 21st, and if you could still redeem it at 10:00 am UTC on the 21st, then the actual cutoff would be the 21st.
But yeah, next time hope for the best, plan for the worst.
See new email in my inbox regarding Eve 16th Anniversary.
Spend next day mulling over “hmm, Eve is a good game, perhaps not always but in general”… “should I perhaps give it a try again?”… go some rounds with myself whether to give Albion Online a rest and play some Eve, or not
After some days of mulling, decide to reactivate Eve and proceed to give CCP money. BIG MISTAKE. TOO LATE FOR REWARDS. REALIZE LATER.
Receive some gifts. Nice! Realize they are time limited.
Feel completely and utterly ass______ by CCP, feeling like they don’t want me as a customer, not feeling happy at all that Eve is 16 years old, what happened Eve? Why do you do me like this? I try to love you but you reject me
In my humble opinion you should go back on your premise for this anniversary and give everyone who was subscribed - or subscribed during the event - the full monty of the reward, for what the ____ is this ■■■■■■■■.
see ticket 899013
EDIT: In fact, just give everyone with an Eve account these rewards. It’s a game for pete’s sake. It matters nothing to our planet if they get 1 mill extra skill points.
Real life happens, work happens, mulling might take a few days.
I’ve played on and off since 2008 and have three accounts. I’m clearly not a big shark and wouldn’t benefit massively from the full amount of rewards. I know what inflation is. I also know what causes bad PR and sour customer relations. This is it.
I did attempt to claim the last reward on the 20th, the client had already taken the option to claim the reward off the client. I do not know if it was an update issue, or another issue altogether.
Thankfully, I got all of the shiny stuff before the timer ended on the 19th and took away the option to claim it, a little sore about the million SP but it was something I expected from previous events. lol
I honestly don’t remember exactly which days I logged on. I’m pretty sure I logged on a couple of days and claimed the Alpha gifts then upgraded to Omega and was able to claim the back Omega gifts but there wasn’t enough time at the end to get the last day. It was telling me that it expired on the 20th and I logged on the morning of the 20th to try and claim the last one but it wasn’t offered. Of course, after DT that day, the event had ended.
I made sure I logged on every day after upgrading to Omega.
I’m not claiming I logged on for the required number of days because it’s now obvious that I didn’t. My complaint is that it was badly worded, with the inference that if you upgraded to Omega, you’d be brought fully up to date and able to claim all the gifts.
“If you upgrade to Omega now, you will still get all the Omega (and Alpha) rewards you missed retroactively, so there’s even more cause to celebrate!”
There’s no point going further here, nothing will come of it despite the FU email telling us to post our thoughts here.
If you get into a car accident, and are in the hospital for 2 weeks, do you think CCP should extend your subscription because you were unable to play for those 2 weeks?
It’s your choice, not CCP. It’s also your fault. Take responsibility for your own life, your choices, and its consequences.
At no point have I implied that CCP are at fault for my own personal situation in this case. What I am accusing them of is a poorly designed world event that unfairly punishes paying players with an inflexible set of rules.
I’m not asking for the reinbursement of a Super Capital lost to a client clich or similar, and I am aware that the strict rules surrounding reinbursment are there for good reason. I’m aware that bending the rules to reinburs a vessel such as a Super capital can drastically alter the balance of power in a small war, and that constantly bending such rules just because a player is upset, devalues the peril and risk which is the heart and soul of this game.
What I asked for was clarification over the unavoidable loss of some cosmetic itmes and skill points due to not being physically able to log on at a certain time everyday. What I actually recieved was an automated polite version of “thems the rules bucko, so either suck it up or get lost” .
This is poor treatment not just of me, an on off player who’s been in this game since 2006, but of every paying customer in a similar situation, and by the evidence shown on this thread I’m far from being alone.
So in my particular case, having recieved what I consider to be shoddy customer service, I am figuratively taking them up on their offer of getting lost.
You thought that, for example, if you had only logged in for 2 days and only claimed 2 alpha gifts, and had upgraded to omega on say the 18th of May, that you would get all 16 Omega gifts, because it’s been 16 days since the event began?
Totally love eve but they do need to extend the length of time you have to complete events as i missed mine by 1 day and missed out on the 1 million sp for 4 characters, instead of only give us a 2 day leeway how about a week for us poor people that have to work and are not able to join when they want to.
Since you are saying that CCP should give you the points as a good faith act, and that they are punishing players by not doing this, yes, you are absolutely asking for CCP to take responsibility for a failure on your part.
You couldnt log in, and you’re asking CCP to give the skillpoints, despite the fact that you didnt log in, not because the servers were down, not because of the fault of CCP, but your own.
You are absolutely asking CCP to pay for your personal problems.
You mean, as opposed to the cookie cutter response that someone would get when they petition CCP for losing their cruiser, or battlecruiser, or carrier because they were caught in a gate camp or their internet happened to die out?
You’re saying that a response for ship loss that told you, “thems the rules bucko, so either suck it up or get lost.” Is perfectly fine, but for this event, it isnt?
Seriously?
I’ve been playing since 2013, so when I lost my carrier in lowsec, CCP should reimburse the ship. Instead I got a cookie cutter response of “thems the rules bucko, so either suck it up or get lost”, what terrible customer service.
I fail to see the difference between the two situations.
