Event Testing - Welcome to the Agency

okay I found a system with signatures in it, but now I can’t get modules to stop cycling. I have to run myself out of ammo, capacitor, or offline the module.

Relog. You are on test server, around half-working things.

I’m on five clients and they all do it

seems to be resolved, thanks.

I completed a site with a squad of T3 cruisers and none of them got credit for the site.

//update: logged in again (after several different sessions) and the site completion shows for all characters

When you hover over the rewards in The Agency window please show what they are or make it right clickable with show info.

is this going to be the same ■■■■■■■■ as the rouge swarm sites? where you have to fight for the sites and/or wait for beacons to spawn?

oh nice just saw the Tengu SKIN reward. yuss

I like how this is a linear points system.

What’s about this “login booster”?

For those of you that are testing:

The rewards are being granted at an accelerated rate so that you can make sure they are being granted correctly. The points required will be changed and require a few more when it goes live on Tranquility. The rewards should be placed directly into your Redeem Items window (redemption queue? or whatever youngsters are calling it these days). After obtaining all of the rewards, completing challenges will still grant you points, but they will not carry over to the next event.

At the moment it is not showing the amount of PLEX you are being awarded, but that’s something that we want in the future. The amount of PLEX being awarded currently might be different on Tranquility. We haven’t decided yet.

Also, you will notice that the challenges do not change from day to day. This may change for future events, but it’s something we wanted to try out for the July event. We also want to allow players to “discard” challenges or as I like to call it “reroll” challenges. The plan, the design, the hope… is that we’ll have a way for you to reroll the challenge and it will immediately pick something else for you instead. We’re still working on the mechanics for this, but I was thinking you could spend some ISK to reroll once per day or something like that.

If the T3 cruiser challenge isn’t working, we can try to fix it or change it. I’ll make sure we take a look at this next week.

We’ve taken note of the Notifications not notifying you of what you are completing. Very noteworthy. That should be in for the September event some time soon.

Seasonal sites will be coming back, just not for the July event. We want to focus on getting feedback about the Agency before introducing other elements.

The login booster is literally a booster that we auto-inject upon logging in. I can’t remember (it’s Saturday night and I don’t have all my notes with me here) if we did per character or per account, but I’m fairly certain it was per account. We want to improve this in the future, because there is no indication of which character is going to get it. And there is no way to tell when the timer is up. The plan, the design, the hope… is that we will allow you to control which of your characters gets it and when.

Please let us know if you have any other concerns!

That’s good news about the PLEX quantity awarded. Right now it’s 1 lol.

So far it seems like most of these are in line with normal gameplay with an emphasis on T3 Cruisers. That along with the strength of the new T3 cruisers makes that okay in my opinion. You know, some of them are completed while doing missions or whatever. It’s juuuuust enticing enough to seek out the other ones, and more importantly I don’t have the info panel hidden.

The Tengu SKINs are smokin’ hot btw

stationary objects count toward pirates killed count
Long arm of the law T3 site completion just lags, yeah. Wasn’t there a journal entry for sites in the past? I don’t see any other way to verify site completion, other than the scan result disappearing from the probe scan menu.

It might be that the site is counting toward Bring The Law, a similar combat signature site challenge and then not counting for Long Arm of the Law. I had Bring the Law completed already and after completing another combat site in T3 Cruisers, nothing changed.

Whole thing might be stuck, actually. I’m not getting the green stripe for the challenge or the Next Challenge timer despite the counter showing 1/1

Is this going to be the sort off event that’s going to make people farm it on alts too just to get the PLEX?
Please don’t make EvE into a log to receive reward mmo…
I remember when I played ArcheAge and they made some nice event with really good rewards and people would spend hours grinding the event quest on 2-10 alts. And every time I wanted to do something I would hear “sorry can’t come I still gotta work on the event quests on alts” they literally killed the game for the 3 weeks the event lasted…
Keep EvE a sandbox! stop adding crap events that force people to do certain things. Sure it’s easy to not do them but if the reward is unique or too good people will feel obliged to do it.

something about this feels different. It’s reinforcing existing gameplay styles. I considered whether this was a ratrace too, and the other game I could relate it to was Diablo III and seasons. The idea might be the same but the major difference that makes this better, in my opinion, is the final tier reward can be purchased on market. There was the stash tab that made Diablo III’s seasons cause resentment, but that’s not the case here. The reward isn’t automatically bound to the account. The rewards don’t exclude anyone not participating in the challenges. A “quality of life” improvement isn’t placed behind a grind here. I’d even be okay with a global leaderboard of The Agency challenge points.

I don’t like the login booster idea, it does look artificial and not like EvE. If they are auto-injected, will there be a market for them? Otherwise people must do the event challanges in order to get the buffs. We should not go that path.

EDIT: Regarding gameplay styles, will we see other styles included than shooting rats?

I agree, its enough that we will get some boosters when doing the event. No need for some idiotic forcing them on someone.

Now it feels like your mommy is force feeding them to you and says “Eat, Eat, its good for you.”

new event won’t show. I NEED THE NEXT EVENT TO GET CLOSER TO THAT SWEET SWEET TENGU SKIN

I’m not sure what to say about the login booster. That feels even more like deciding when people are going to play. If it gives the activity results you want though hey maybe I’m wrong.

We want to avoid this, for primarily the reason you gave.

On the list of things to look at next week. I know why it’s happening, it was just unexpected. I can fix this using a content solution, but ideally we want to fix the actual counter.

Think of login boosters as a “rested buff”. You are well rested now that you’ve returned and you are ready to hit the road. It just happens to use a mechanic that already exists in the game.

To actually address your concern, since the login booster is auto-injected, you will never get the item and never be able to trade it. It is auto-injected into a specific slot that no other booster can go into, so it will always usually stack with other boosters.

On the other hand, the reward boosters (the ones given as rewards for completing the event) can be traded and we expect there to be a bit of a market for them. All future event reward boosters will always share a slot so they can’t stack but you’ll be able to use them with non-event boosters. When I say future, I mean that’s the plan, the design, the hope… but might change as we look at how things go. We can very quickly and easily change the types of boosters or even remove them completely when creating a new event. So there can be events that don’t even have login boosters at all.

And if it doesn’t, then it gets removed.

It just feels controlling, like you are getting to decide when the player receives a gameplay reward. It’s also sort of self-reinforcing, where if you make it powerful (and desirable) it could cause resentment from players who don’t like jumping through your hoops. Compared to the rewarded trade-able boosters, are they more or less powerful?

This feels better than the Opportunities system because it’s a straightforward list of activities. No invisible timer like Opportunities, either. They tend to cause anxiety. But now it’s the locked booster thing that still has that “don’t tell me what to do dad” feel.

Anyway. I’m on board with what helps the health of the game, so okay let’s see what happens. This is so close to getting it right though!

The Challenges seem to be stuck. I’ve done several combat sites in a T3 Cruiser, both default warpable and scanned combat sites with no change to the Long Arm of the Law challenge. Two challenges are at 0. Is it a limited pool of challenges?

Thaaaanks.

Just that I understand it right, you are not getting the buff for participating in the event, but just for logging in (at max every 24h) during the time the event is active, correct? If it’s purely passive, I’m fine with it, but I don’t think it will have an effect on login numbers then.
