[Event] The way forward

A group of Minmatar capsuleers got to together to discuss the Warzone and and the state of the Republic. This was achieved with some great ideas, questions and feelings about these issues were shared.

There was laughter, shouting, drunkenness, threats, smiles and disagreements but 0 casualties and no one was enslaved. All involved should be praised, a few people were offended by some of the more boisterous behavior but I’m sure they will recover.

We are the Brutor, Krusual, Nefantar, Sebiestor, Starkmanir, Thukker and Vherokior. The Tribes.

Elsey, that’s exactly what I’ve been saying for more than fifteen years. And for fifteen years, I’ve been threatened with violence from U’K members for speaking in a way they do not approve of. Does that remind you of any other tribalists, perhaps?

The truth is: One Matari people, one Republic.

And all the tribes and clans can go on the dungheap.

And Else. Appearantly she needs a seperate mention.

Surprisingly, most people could respect and honor the right of everyone to be heard in the Standing Place, even you benefitted from this. But I guess we should just yell over each other next time because spirits forbid we’d act with a little courtesy like some yucky gallente.

My sincere apologies for this breach of hospitality. Pilot Pol was a little upset after I asked him to leave A Standing Place for some air and needed to vent, but that does not excuse it.

That’s cute.

True, nothing got decided at the moot. It was decided before the moot that war would be the way forward.

You appreciate everyone who put forward something to consider that dealt with war.

And yet I was the only one chastised for this, with the moderator of the event abusing their control over my holo access. It was apparently claimed that I was ‘unruly’ or ‘angry’ or somesuch, yet I was the calmest person in the room.

I spoke out of turn on only two occasions, and raised my voice during neither.

Several U’K members shouted belligerently. @Cain_Aloga called me a “whore” while also speaking over my turn. Yet only Pol was escorted out, and when he returned, grinning, he was allowed to continue to interrupt the gathering with impunity.

Your actions speak for you, siblings. It’s clear that the word was, and has always been, war. You shot down everyone who suggested alternate paths involving communication and defense. And you censored me in the name of ‘belligerence’ under a policy of behavior that was, at best, unevenly applied.

I have better things to do than subject myself to your abuse. Just remember: I offered you another way. You spurned me. The blood of our kin who will die in your war—the kin living on the planets below, whom you’ve clearly forgotten—will be not only on Sarum hands, but yours as well.

I hope your pretty little space fights are worth it.

While I recognise and appreciate your apology, I struggle to understand why I was attacked.

I was hundreds of kilometers away from the citadel and very clearly not aggressive, seeing how I was taking part in the discussions at the time.

Your pilot’s actions do little other than confirm Ushra’Khan as the bloodthirsty warmongers they present themselves as.

More like annoyed by all of you assholes who couldn’t follow basic fukking instructions. Seriously, even our most brain-damaged idiots understand ‘shut the fukk up’ and can wait their turn. When you’re being dumber than Imperium mainfleet comms, there’s something wrong there.

Mel, no decisions were made. This wasn’t about making decisions. But lemme ask you something, since you turned off your feed before the informal ‘everyone go talk to one another about this crap’ part: how?

How do you propose to come to a peaceful agreement w/Sarum, when attempting a peaceful agreement is exactly the excuse they used to declare Reclaiming by the Sword again? Sarum aren’t exactly a bunch of peace-lovers. Look at how Mitara speaks here. Go look back at Alizabeth’s posts about Alkabsi, the ones that got Else and so many other Matari to despise her for being brutally effective.

That’s Sarum. That’s what you’re suggesting we try to find a peaceful resolution with. You have to have some leverage to negotiate, something the other side wants. Right now? Sarum is already getting exactly what they want.

So how do you propose achieving your ‘other way’?

I renewed my license and returned to space due to the current escalation by Sarum and the Amarr. It was good to see so many of my kin concerned about the same issue, but I had hoped for a clearer sense of direction afterwards. I’ll be in touch with like-minded parties once I figure out my course of action.

This part is true. There was clear favoritism involved in who was allowed to speak out of turn, and it was heavily in U’K’s favour, absolutely. Considering where the event took place, I can’t say I’m exactly surprised.

Maybe my mind is mush, but I don’t think you did. As I recall, you just said something along the lines “there will be peace, not in this generation, but there will be and it should be on our terms” Yet you didn’t clarify how that peace would be eventually achieved, or, how the reclaiming of Floseswin IV would be halted with passive resistance.

That’s a lot of anger… I thought the meeting was well conducted. I did get ejected once for showing some “passion” and even offered my turn to some pacifist on my return. You people are amazing at internal fighting and causing issues were none exsist…

It was a fine gathering everyone got to speak, I even listened to some of it. My behavior was impeccable for a Thukker! roars with laughter

Of course you would.

On the whole, I’d say it was. Some of the attendees weren’t.

On consideration, @Melisma_Ramijozana let’s go to someone with a little more insight on the Amarr than you or I…

@Constantin_Baracca - Do you see a way short of complete and total surrender, for Minmatar capsuleers to arrange a peaceful resolution to the Sarum attacks on civilians in the warzone?

For this, you have to look for your chiefs and commanders - neither me nor Harkon nor anyone else present would presume to speak for them.

Or, indeed, as you suggest, seek the company of those you now maybe know to think like you do.

I’m not Constantin, but I’d like to refer to the words of Captain Marshal Sirdan xer Qosh, the Amarr delegate to the Inner Circle:

“The position of the Imperial Throne on so-called “extralegal planetary incursions” is considerably affected by the continuing extralegal, as one might say, sanctions unilaterally imposed on the Amarr Empire and its subjects by the Gallente Federation and Minmatar Republic. Perhaps, if they are so keen to see an end to “extralegality” in interstellar affairs, they will reflect on the destabilizing effects of their policy of economic blockade and sabotage.”

With respect, lifting these sanctions is hardly something capsuleers can do.

You could petition for it or something?

Lifting them is not going to happen regardless. You do not drop sanctions used to apply pressure over one horrible event, just because you are getting threatened with another horrible event.

If the situation had been reversed, say with Amarrian sanctions over the Elder Fleet, and the Republic demanding them to drop it by threatening to send in another Elder Fleet, Amarr wouldn’t drop them either. Doing so is just validating that behavior, and clear submission and cowardice to the strongman tactics of the other side.

That is self-serving drivel from Amarr at the Inner Circle. The sanctions are not indiscriminately imposed on the Empire’s subjects and they are not extralegal.

The sanctions aim to limit Imperial and Khanid access to Federal and Republic capital by freezing assets and implementing travel bans for select Amarr and Dark Amarr officials and Holders. … Other individuals include Zoar and Sons CEO Lady Ardamad Zoar, Khanid Transport director Isan Anmeal, Lord Toha Kojafi of Tash-Murkon bank Dharian Kojafi, and Lords Alar Chakaid and Soshan Fayez, who were involved in the pacification efforts on Kahah.

… the measures stop short of infringing on the provisions of the Yulai Convention governing extraterritoriality of space stations and regulation of SCC markets.

The sanctions were a reaction to Amarr’s inhumane “pacification” of Kahah, and we’re supposed to petition to lift them because Amarr somehow links them to their equally inhumane plans for “reclamation” of Floseswin IV? In fact we know Lord Sarum’s proclamation of the latter has nothing to do with the economic sanctions but with his ire at some Amarr militias reaching a limited ceasefire with some of their Minmatar counterparts.
