EVERYTHING I Learned from the CSM 18 Candidates

Dujek Oneye

Mercenary or bounty hunter framework would be really cool, but probably framework to meaningfully interact and work together with strangers temporarily, especially for new players.

Rico Shikkkoken

  • Not advocating for this but planetary invasions

  • The things in my list above which don’t currently exist.

Alcoholic Satan

More Navy and T2 capitals, fully fleshed out ship trees for other factions, a rogue drone faction, stat trackers and player profile customization, more mutaplasmids for modules, more group PVE activities like Pochven.

Sol Weintroub

Trig logi frigs T1 and T2 and some traits for C and BC afterburner capacitor consumption, to make overprop slightly more usable.

Dario Kaelenter

Walking in Stations. I can understand that cost and resource requirements for this would have been pretty considerable though I also think it would have been cool to have something to do outside the space ship spinning when you are over the flying about. I know of people that would have played Eve alone (or continued to play) for this sort of content and I think it also gives players more connection to their character and motivation to progress apart from just more isk and a better ship. Plus it opens up more potential revenue streams with cosmetic add ons.

Storm Delay

Something akin to the old passive mining moons

Kontan Rekor

More reasons for people and shiny things to be in non-instanced space. I could elaborate on what that would look like, but it would make more sense as the subject of its own post.

As mentioned in the post, FOB’s and additional small structure objectives to instigate smaller fights.

@Cael_Caderu

A reward item that lands at the end of a nullsec anomaly, ideally in a predictable place close to the warpin of the site. Call it “green loot” and make it delivered to NPC buy orders in specific NPC null. e.g. Serpentis rats would need to be ransomed to Serpentis NPC space. This is an opportunity to raise the value of null anoms while giving ratters some tough choices about when to cut and run vs when to stick around and hope the hunters are slow or looking for something else. It would also create a new content-driving gameplay style of roaming through hostile space and finishing other people’s sites. Delivery to NPC null is to avoid the cheese of the Pochven highway and make people actually ship their goods through space.

@Arhont_Sibirskii

Capital route planning systems. I know that there is dotlan. And there you can calculate everything. But every time you minimize the game window to open third-party resources. Lost magic dive. =)

@Twan_Molenaar

Navy and Pirate Logistical Vessels,

@Rots_Mijnwerker

This is a tough one for me - i think i would love to see faction warfare enrollment into the pirate factions i truly do enjoy the lore and could see myself getting into it. I’d love the idea of pirate factions capturing and repurposing empire ships and having ship hulls like this. Like a Providence freighter being stolen and refit by the blood raiders with turret hardpoints? Why not?

@MILINT_ARC_Trooper

[Careful Inhalation]

  • Navy Carriers [and Navy/Pirate Fighters and by virtue Pirate Drones too]

  • Navy Titans [It has to be done…since we are expanding other capitols]

  • Triglavian “Clade Ships” [their Triglavian “Navy” variants.] Perun/Veles/Svarborg clade variants.

  • Unlocking the Razhnborg and Abyssal Missile weapons for capsuleers to play with. As well as other Triglavian weapon and mobile battlefield modification systems.

  • Triglavian Haulers [The Hauling Community is BAYIING TO THE ROOF ON THIS.] (Already in the Game)

  • Expansion of all the Pirate Factions to mirror Empire tech trees.

  • Daredevil needs to be swapped to a Capsuleer Angel Cartel ship. Serpentis needs to have a unique Serpentis “V” class frigate [points to any one of the Gallente T1 Frigates Pirate Tristan anyone or Atron or unique hull type?] Daredevil was originally called the Devourer for the Angel Cartel.

  • I know we are filling in the hole with the Minmatar Caldari faction. [Ironically in lore SOE follows this doctrine.] But I think another pirate faction needs to be given its moment in the sun, The EOM [End of Man} faction with its crazy Amarr ships with Hybrid Weapons and Shield Preferences.

  • Corpse Launchers, for funny things.

  • Unique modules that increase specialization and ship personalization using the sandbox to creatively make unique hulls and content concept

  • Expansion of T3 ships and technology choices.

  • Espionage and Interaction Hacking games to allow more back and forth conflict with stations and other infrastructure in nullsec, pochven, or wormhole space.

  • Non-Station requirement corporate/ doctrine fit based personalization in game. With also solo players getting the ability to use personalizations to roleplay as their faction of choice.

  • Players should have the capability to join various NPC corps of their own free will.

As I said before there is alot potential in the game. I feel many times there isn’t a full pushing the limit of what we can do in this game. There is so so much more yet to be played with.

@Corporal_Fillip

more things to find, even if temporary

@Amelia_Duskspace

There are many things I wish existed in game that don’t

I wish there were more content objectives for roaming gangs like there used to be with station services. These type of objectives give more reason for groups to go around and do stuff to get fights. Right now it’s very hard to force people to undock, which is bad for the game.

I wish there were more means for groups to be able to fight against n+1, whether it be some stacking debuffs or something similar as seen in Albion Online.

  1. What exists in-game that you wish didn’t?

Torvald Uruz

Hypernet comes to mind. We had it good with Somerblink and IWantIsk, but CCP ruined those to create an in game model so they could make money off of it.

Another quick thing that comes to mind is dailies. These dailies for paragon are ridiculous. They focus way too much on Abyssal content when we have an entire universe full of stuff that could be used for daily tasks. Also, I don’t want so many damn evermarks!!

I don’t know if this counts, but CCP selling skill point packs. There is an entire system of extractors and skill injectors, and CCP selling SP directly in my opinion is wrong.

Also, local as intel. I don’t agree with blackout, but I do think that having an instant intel tool is not such a great idea. I’d like to see something like a local delay, maybe a minute delay before someone pops up in local. It’s a crap feeling when you get to a system and everyone is already docked up, or starbursts the second you appear in local. Give the skilled hunters a chance to catch someone!

Stitch Kaneland

Nala Queen

RGC Godfather

Ganking and the overall bullying of industrial and newer members

Dutch Gunner

I am not a fan of the skill injectors. Progression into other ships have improved massively since the start of EVE. Skill injectors have created the option to progress that much quicker at the expense of mastery of ships, playstyles and mechanics. This leads to much more dissatisfaction as people get into ships and content that much earlier and get beaten by others that have less skillpoints but a better understanding and mastery of ships and mechanics.

Grima the Mad

There aren’t many things that I feel shouldn’t exist in game. I have feelings about hyper nodes, but I feel like it’s a part of the game that provides entertainment for some people. I’m not fond of the idea of taking something away from people who enjoy it on my own personal feelings about gambling. It is an interesting tool which I could see being used in positive ways.

Kshal Aideron

The in game ads pointed directly at new players. As a marketing professional, I fully understand the need to monetize the game. However, I think the timing is wrong and counter productive. For example, one of the offers I’ve seen is omega at a stellar 1st month price. A newbro gets it then doesn’t know what to do with it and feels like they wasted money. Pretty counter productive in my personal opinion.

Gideon Zendicar

Free targeted projection in the form of fatigueless Ansis

D’ceet

Jokingly, multi hour jump fatigue, but I am just a capital pilot who remembers you could travel the universe as fast as your capacitor could take you.

On a serious note it would probably be that the amarr/caldari connection system is now in Pochven and it takes 30+ jumps to get to Amarr, or a spicy jump into Ahbazon. but EVE is ever evolving and I can only shake my fist at the clouds but so often.

I don’t think the shuttle should have interdiction nullification, it allows for perfect information without any investment and has massively reduced demand for the fleet interceptors (except the malediction because its absolutely cracked) Give permanent interdiction nullification back to the fleet interceptors if they give the nullifier module.

Dark Shines

Auto repair timers, I wish they didn’t exist. I would love for CCP to bring back manual repair timers as part of an overall structure redesign to reduce empire sprawl, especially in Null sec.

Citadel damage caps in its current iteration. It’s brutally boring to grind undefended citadels, and likewise very stupid to reward absentee guardianship of citadels by wasting everyones time.

I’d like to see damage caps for example doubled, but also allow citadels to be actively repaired to maybe half of that new cap, to allow a counter to slow down the reinforce rate.

This is just an example that would obviously need a lot of tweaking.

Triglavian gate camps in low and high sec, Trigs are interesting but farming them is a lot less possible if you want to also fly around safely. Not advocating for the abolition of this though at this time I would need to think about it and discuss it with people a lot more, if this is something people want. Just because I find something frustrating does not immediately mean it’s a bad thing.
Alcoholic Satan

Honestly, there’s nothing I wish didn’t really exist. I’m sure some people might say things like sov warfare, but what do you replace it with, going back to endless structure grinding because he who drops the most citadels in a system now owns it? No thanks.

Sol Weintroub

It’s a sandbox and all activities, that give people entertainment, should exist.

Lady Death Strike

Good question, I am glad you asked. Filiment, they make travel to easy. I need to go to jita poof I’m in poch, use another I’m some where by jita, making it so I avoided a bunch of areas of eve. The aniplex gates in null is another one. Those need to go as well. More over I feel the mwd then cloak, uncloak warp off needs to be changed. We need a game of content. Those ships shouldn’t be able to do that trick. Only a small number like 10 or less should be able to pull off such feats. Fix the mobile observatory as well, don’t let the cloakie camper recloak, make him become content. Do this by having him get a recloaking delay timer after being decloaked by a mobile observatory. The thing can lock on to cloaking frequency and prevent it from recloaking for like 5 minutes.

Dario Kaelenter

Toxicity. I guess it comes with people and their insecurities. There are aspects of the game that can exacerbate that… I’ve often wondered why Eve has no in game chat filtering like Forums does. Some words best left out of the game and maybe being advised to consider why you want to say that may give players a moments to calm down and think again.

Storm Delay

Citadel fittings. Generally, they are disincentives to fights and you can’t do anything about them as an attacker. I’m talking about reducing capital escalations (tether, XL neuts), increasing the tedium (plates).

Kontan Rekor

I’m not sure any content needs to be removed, there are things that do need to be reworked however.

Gabriel Bemenacth

Dhuras

Abyssal Filaments. Its instanced PvE which really does not belong in EVE< it goes against the core design philosophy of it.

William Chen

while I do wish for many things to not exist in-game what I wish for would make no impact on what is already there, just to name a couple “SP in packs” or “straight-up SP for sale”.

Cael Caderu

Pochven is reasonably cool, but I really wish that the Pochven highway didn’t exist. Being able to ship from the deepest null to highsec in 15 minutes flat, completely bypassing all the intervening geography, is not good for the game IMO. Removing the highway would revitalize the borders between null and empire space by increasing the amount of traffic flowing through those systems.

I’ve also already mentioned Supply Depots/Caches, I believe, which also falls under this category.

Arhont Sibirski

This is probably more related to the second question. But I will continue here. Newly introduced lance dreadnoughts should stop working in lowsec sectors. The mechanics are not just dishonest, they generate too much drama. Doomsday weapons that work in area should not work in lowsec - that was the golden rule. Lowsec was exactly this place where the titans and their weapons did not pose a threat to inexperienced or poor players. I remember those stories of how the goonsworm titans destroyed entire fleets that flew over their territory. For zeros, this is acceptable. Bubbles, bazon, lance. But in lowsec it seems to be broken. In fact, lance dreadnoughts, instead of changing capital battles, change the desire to play for beginners and the poor who have just entered lowsec.

Twan Molengar

Ansiblex Jump Bridges - bar stop

MILINT ARC Trooper

I will say this thing, how does it make sense that one can track a player with 3rd Party tech which can not be detected or defended against. Yet, the locator agents in this game are criminally underused for their job, [Probably need to be moved to the Agency for more direct interaction and allowing players to find targets or general activity zones.] Ways for players to use third party systems to track players or get information on a player should not be allowed. I remember one time being contacted by a player in lowsec…hey you are on intel channels. I am like, I just randomly popped a filament from lowsec to nullsec and they knew where I was. No one was in local as well, so I was like that isn’t good for the game.

Corporal Fillip

FW affects high-sec a lot

Amelia Duskspace

I think Ansiblex are one of largest issues in the game right now. They force high centralization of groups which leads to large amounts of completely empty dead space. While I think there needs to be incentives to owning and upgrading your space, it shouldnt allow you to own and defend 6 regions so easily from 1 centralized location.

  1. What exists in-game that you think ought to continue to exist?

Torvald Uruz

Player-Driven content. Market, PvP, empires, ganking, mining, wormholes, missions, all of it. Other than what I mentioned in question 4, I think the game should continue as is!

Stitch Kaneland

Nala Queen

Dutch Gunner

Attributes and remaps. Optimizing the attributes and remapping them really helps with learning skills that much quicker. It is an underestimated and under utilized aspect of the game that will save players days to weeks in time. It could use with a reduction of the cooldown between remaps to help making it used more often.

Grima the Mad

E-War, one of my favorite systems in the game is doing something that keeps others from doing harm or interfering with whatever it is that I’m doing. I don’t think that there is a huge push for its removal, but I think it’s in a relatively good place, and it adds interesting game play.

Kshal Aideron

Two extremely poker hot subjects are needlejack filaments and skill injectors. Needlejack filaments help players get out into null to places they might not have thought to go to in the first place. it isn’t only NPSI groups or small gangs using them. Explorers use them as well and it helps them get undocked and into the “more dangerous” area of the game. Personally, on my newbro roams it easily saves me 30 minutes of flying through nothing and losing player’s interest.

The other thing is the skill injectors. Eve Rookies exists because of LSI. I was able to get the skills I needed to play the booster and FC the incursion fleets. The alternative would have been to buy a character with the skill, but I wanted to play on Kshal. Not some character I didn’t make.

Gideon Zendicar

Industry Bottlenecks that require input from various areas of space to build advanced hulls to prevent one region of Eve from dominating all others.

Ganking, there are few candidates and alot of youtubers that decry ganking and are trying as hard as they can from getting it removed from the game, all they need to do is look at eve echoes to see what an awful idea that is, granting immunity from player intervention in hisec would absolutely cripple the economy in many areas

Rico Shikkkoken

This one is a lot harder to answer, because it constitutes most of the game, wormholes, nullsec, lowsec, high sec, pochven, etc should all continue to exist.

Alcoholic Satan

Group PVE activities like that of Pochven where you’re regularly contesting money making sites with other players.

Dario Kaelenter

The supportive community. There are many players that are very willing to help with advice, isk, resources and providing opportunities and more positive environments for others to spend their Eve time in. Coming together to also help with Real World issues and make a positive difference in the world. I have never really seen that to an extent in any gaming community as much as we see in the Eve Online community and I hope that continues.

Storm Delay

I’m not sure how to answer that, most things that exist ought to continue doing so.

Kontan Rekor

This is a weird question, as there’s lots that I think should continue to exist. Maybe the easiest answer for me is Pochven. I would like for regions like Pochven to have a place in EVE, even if the current state of the region is not ideal.

Gabriel Bemenacth

Pochven (Praise)

Dhuras

That is so broad I can’t answer that without pages and pages.

William Chen

Keep the filament, that was a great implement for sure, For roaming and content it’s great, but I do like to see it changed a bit, where you can’t use a filament again in the same constellation or something like that to filter out some of “filament-> cloak and stays there” it should be a content generator.

Cael Caderu

Far too much here to name it all, so just a few highlights: I really enjoy the scanning and hacking minigames. I would be sad to see those removed or reworked. I love MJD tactical gameplay such as spearfishing. I can see arguments that right now it is perhaps a little too easy for large ships to slip through gatecamps using MWD+cloak or MJD+cloak, but I would push to not nerf this behavior because campers can and do sometimes catch the ships. So content happens because a cloak+MWD battleship can have enough of a chance to take the risk, but not have a guaranteed escape.

Arhont Sibirski

Unique systems like Turnnur, Tera, and all drifter wormholes. They greatly increase the dynamics of flights. without them, the game would be boring.

Twan Molengar

Its kind off gone but i wish that the original abyss Proving grounds would be returned as a lot of people seemed to enjoy them.

Rots Mijnwerker

This one is loaded for me - if i had to pick one, i would really like to know that mechanics that help our community building continue to exist a lot of the reason i play is the people i play with.

MILINT ARC Trooper

  • Hidden Resources. During the early days of Scarcity, it was actually kind of fun to scan down data/relic sites all over EVE Online to get resources. Even looking around missions and combat sites for some oddball goodies. Although CCP did go a bit nuclear on that, you can still find stuff here or there if you know where to look. It was kind of funny to see the shock of explorers seeing mining ships on grid. It was an interesting time to be a mining scout in that area, then CCP shut down that emergent content.
  • Hidden Loot. If you are careful and poking around (IE shoot everything.) You might find structures holding bits and pieces of interesting loot. Including Implants. The strange windfall of an overlooked structure or building in a site. And there is talk that some unique ships can access some particular items and interact with them. It has been a long term “secret” that CCP hasn’t elaborated on. And I believe any knee jerk efforts to “fix things” will have disastrously destructive effects on the lore and story, and hidden secrets of EVE that many have yet to discover.
  • Meme/ Lore/Empire/Special Edition resources. There are some unique ores in this game that you can actually harvest like Flawed Gniess and Fools Crokite. Sadly you don’t find this stuff very often in game in missions, but its a funny item to mine. Sadly it can’t be sold on the market or compressed. Also much of the Mining Mission Lore ore can’t be used for anything else and can’t be sold on market. Maybe it could be changed so you can sell it to someone who has interest in it? Empire Ores are usually tied to the old Resource Wars mining sites, sadly it can’t be used outside of the mining sites [erased out of your hold.] Special Edition ores however, are one of the weirder items in the game. Several years ago I was able during Crimson Harvest to Mine Cthoric Attar…which is a special ore that then can be refined for a special resource required for unique modules in this game. Sadly CCP seems to like to make this stuff disappear from interactions from time to time, which makes it a bit frustrating to build same said modules. {Although one particular Mining Mission item…that attracts rogue drones has my attention…too bad we can’t use for such “operations”]
  • Historical Sites in EVE Online. I know many of the old Cosmos Sites and the various fixed DEDs are still around, but I think they need updates and probably need some massive rejuvenation efforts. Recently I took another CSM hopeful on a guided tour of a site I have in my home base. This unique site is one of a kind in New Eden. And sadly I wish there were more in the game. It is a historical marker for an era of interactive gameplay that seems to have been buried in the past. The other CSM member was floored and intrigued by the site. It even drops special lore bits that have references to various locations throughtout EVE. Sadly, this site is the only one of its kind in existance. Too bad newbros can’t have such a resource or concept at their fingertips that would drive their curiousity in EVE online.

The Alliance Tournament!!!

  1. What doesn’t exist in-game that you hope never comes into existence?

Torvald Uruz

Pay-2-win!!! No one should ever be able to swipe their credit card and get an advantage that can only be gotten from real world money. No golden ammo, no cash shop only boosters.

Stitch Kaneland

Gold ammo

Nala Queen

Above all, there should NEVER be T2 Titans, because then hardly any player would be given the chance to survive a fight, should one be led into the field.

Dutch Gunner

Any form of pay to win. And with pay to win I mean anything that gives you an advantage in the game over anyone else that doesn’t pay for the same.

Grima the Mad

At the risk of sounding like a parrot to what I’m sure many of the others you’ve copy/pasted this question to, mechanics which equate to pay money for a direct advantage, pay-to-win. I’m not talking about SP extractors and injectors, I personally feel that these are akin to catch-up tools that other games have. I’m mixed on the direct sale of SP, but it is a thing now and I don’t feel that’s a hill worth even fighting on.

Kilyavi Alaailaa

Kshal Aideron

Golden Ammo and other pay to win elements. No, I don’t think LSI are pay to win. They’ll never teach a player situational awareness, solo pvp or how to fly in a fleet. Those you only learn by doing. However, anything that you can buy and use to trump situational awareness and actual player skill is a no go for me.

Lady Death Strike

I hope that pay to win does not takes full effect and it’s just pay for the best gear and ships with real money. Experencing the whole game is important. Not just the pvp.

Dario Kaelenter

A singular focus on one aspect in the game such as PVP only. Not everyone comes to Eve to just shoot other stuff. Many come for a more relaxed environment to chill with friends and have a bit of fun. That could be small gang PVP tho also Mining, Industry or PVE content where they aren’t under pressure to match their physical abilities against other player as much. I think that’s also why Eve online appeals to more mature players as they don’t need to have those youthful quick reaction times or l33t coordination skills to succeed and enjoy the game.

Kontan Rekor

The cop-out answer is more blatant Pay-to-win mechanics, but I will also add that more instanced PvE like ESS reserve key sites and abyssals should probably not be expanded upon.

Gabriel Bemenacth

Dhuras

William Chen

For the love of sweet baby Jesus Christ I hope to never see skin with stat boost lol.

Cael Caderu

Again, so much I could mention here. I certainly don’t want to see pay to win mechanics in EVE. Something that came up in discussion recently that I don’t want to see is a navy links destroyer. Part of the flexibility of FW NVY plexes comes from the inability to bring any kind of links into them. Basically, “kitchen sink” fleets aren’t as bad when better options can’t enter the plex, and blocking dedicated support ships like links helps with that. I love a good organized fleet but I also appreciate having places where a pickup fleet can really compete and I’d be sad to lose it.

Arhont Sibirski

PVP or PVE rating systems. As soon as this appears, I think Eva can no longer be saved. We already have one resource zkillbord which makes some pilots afraid to “spoil their reputation”. If the system is introduced, I’m afraid it will be another reason to shy away from risky fights.

Twan Molengar

nothing really comes to mind At this point if i do come up with something i will edit this post

MILINT ARC Trooper

I know everyone was screeching about “gold ammo” booster…but they don’t know the horrors of actual “gold ammo” where every shot of the highest grade ammunition [World of Tanks] You might have given Marketing Team the perfect idea. You do not want to end up with T2 ammo with a Plex per 1000 units purchase value. The booster was relatively tame, compared to the concept EVE players were scarecrowing about. Considering for years there was a booster that still exists that gives newbros for 34 days a 20% damage/rate of fire bonus. And stacks on other cerebral acclerators for training or further enhancing the combat power of same said ships. That is my concern, is if CCP starts Plex charging for fuel, ammo usage. That will be the end of EVE.
