Can CCP look to expand the Universe to help reduce system congestion and maybe another Major market to provide new opportunities. It may also help to grow the userbase to give a place to setup in areas where no veterans have been established for years…
Markets are setup by players, not by CCP. If you want another big market, start seeding a location.
Most of EVE is almost completely deserted. You can fly 20 jumps without seeing anyone.
And you can fly 20 jumps with people in each system…
OP, please tell me about your experiences - in particular, those which have led you to request an expansion.
EVE seems to me to have a variety of environments, some populated, others rarely so, and others again, not at all. Major trade hubs, their nearby systems and associated routes are likely to be busier than other areas, but that is to be expected.
I was drawn to your remark about veterans. Is this a roundabout way of complaining that veterans control everything, market-wise? If it is and if it’s true, how might establishing a new major hub in a new location address the problem?
Thanks for the prompt; it’s a while since I considered these things.
I am going to bet this is more about having unexplored space as in the first few years of EVE’s existence.
But, with things being as they are, the majors would move in and settle it within a year’s time.
Depends. If the new systems have nothing, nobody would come.
Europe invaded America once they believed there was resources to exploit.
With ‘nothing’ what would be the point of having them?
Not just in-game, but also use of RL resources also.
This is not how EVE works. Under the current game mechanics, Jita would be Jita, no matter if you add another 10.000 systems or not.
Alliances would still gather their active members in crowded “Staging Systems” and leave the rest of the region mostly empy, because they can simply cyno the whole fleet to where they want it. There just is no need to have them split up to several outposts with local defenders anywhere. If anything happens, you call the big fleet trough the magic teleporter.
And no matter how much “new space” you create, if there is anything lucrative to do there, the established alliances would fill that space with alts and vasalls, no independent or newly joined entity could claim a hold there. People would just come to burn them out because they can. To farm killmails, loot and salt.
^ This. All of this.
Frankly I agree empire is quite decently populated and could use a sizeable expansion particularly if we want to want to promote and expand the game beyond its existing base. We need to look at getting rid of the bots in local chats and move hypernet stuff to a joinable channel so people can actually chat in local without it being drowned out. We need to look at ways to grow the play base
Make new species with substantial new empire space but also new 0.0 space but make the 0.0 space complex, go old school Eve no jump bridges, no jump gates allowed force travel, force it to be high risk and decent travel times to get to the most valuable locations, no NPc stations just what is created by the players, have the 0.0 portion inside an anomaly of some kind whereby the gates realign at random intervals to create chaos between a select couple (say 5) of systems based on the star type I dunno and the event on the star determines what system the gate is connected to. Make it so the no existing resources are available in those system only new types. This way it creates risk to bring in enough resources/ship/modules to build stations. I dunno come up with some crazy creative ideas people don’t just say no come up with inventive ways to do it
In reality, when large cities become congested, new highways are built to accommodate the increase flow of traffic. The same holds true in Eve Online. The routes are really no different than roads in Sim City that you have constantly have to rework and build to create the most efficient route possible.
