With that logic, you wouldnt want to change anything at all out of fear that players will leave the game.
Fact is, if nothing changes, no new players will come play the game and you will continue to hemorrhage your old player-base until it is dead.
Giving players more opportunities to hunt in null might be what is needed to spark new interest.
its not logic, that is a fact… When CCP tried to do what was called “blackout” and turned null into wormhole in regards to local chat, majority of null players rebelled and threatened to quit.
Thats a logical fallacy. “If you won’t do A then you won’t do anything!”. I would do a lot, but I also believe CCP needs income to keep the game running and nullsec delivers a noticable part of that income AND has the structure to organize a month-long boycot of thousands of players (or: accounts).
And your “fact” is merely an “opinion”. New players come into the game every day, and they are not leaving because “they cannot hunt others in Nullsec”, they are leaving for various reasons but “local in null” surely is none of them.
It’s funny, but most of the replies in here that include insulting the people posting valid points are coming from.. Hm. Wonder where?
Gotta make sure we verbally defend that low-risk ratting space, I guess.

This is exactly why I have suggested a change which doesn’t deny null their intel tool (they can still see who’s there, still follow them, still track them, etc, etc - everything they can do right now).
The only tiny minor change is that you don’t appear in local whilst you’re gate cloaked - that’s it. This simply gives roaming small gangs a chance to engage and tackle a target rather than them docking up as soon as a neutral enters (actually you load in the destination system before your grid loads).
well i disagree.. if they can’t see you, then you shouldn’t be able to see them until you’re uncloaked from the gate, you wanna sneak up on someone, use a cloaked ship.
Doesn’t work - even in a cloaky, as soon as local changes, people instantly dock up. This was never a game design intention.
They can see you, just when you’ve broken gate cloak. Plus there are plenty of in game ways to monitor the space around you.
Doesn’t matter, using Local as a lame excuse for your inability to catch people isn’t enough justification to change the game. If you need a full minute of gate cloak to find your target, you need to find something else to do in Eve.
If you get good, you’ll get kills. On the other side of that, if you pay attention, you won’t get killed. Keep in mind, I live in wormholes where I have no clue if anyone is there or not, but I still manage to evade everyone trying to kill me. Seeing names in Local when I go to highsec to sell loot or do event stuff gives me mild anxiety.
I challange you to roam low and catch a ratter, anom runner or miner - it’s not an easy task, because, as I say, they dock up when local +1’s. Before you can even land on grid, they’re gone. A dictor doesn’t even help, because they’re in warp when you enter system. Sometimes you get lucky, but most of the time they’ve left the site before you can land - tell me how you counter that? They know you’re there before you’ve even loaded system.
I live in wormholes too, but you’re comparing apples to oranges. WH space is mostly empty and generally speaking the engagemetns are much smaller - it’s easier to catch people in sites, ratters, miners, etc…. because they’re not paying attention to DSCAN and there’s no local. The issue is that local is a free/lazy intel tool and actually provides information in advance.
You’re kind of validating my point really….
You really just sound like a null sock puppet trying to validate the existing stasis quo and it’s really poor argument and debate. Go right ahead, explain how you ‘get good’ and catch people despite local - I’d be interested.
Oh, no! People pay attention and don’t let you catch them.
Get an interceptor.
Warp a dictor to their station and bubble it, you don’t have to fight them in the site.
AKA, get good.
Seriously, you know they’re going to be running. How the fu¢k are you surprised they aren’t there when you get there? Never hunted in real life, have you? If you shoot at the duck, you’re not gonna ever hit it. You need to know where the prey is going to go before you pull the trigger.
This is bullsh!t, and you know it. They knew you were coming 10 jumps out because of intel channels. That’s how the Orca/Porpoise knew to turn off the industrial core and get out of the belt before you got there. The few seconds between you showing up in Local and you loading the system doesn’t matter to a 1 minute cycle time.
You could learn to hunt. You keep shooting where the duck is and it’s already flying before you even see it. You’re expecting people in nullsec to be a caged hunt, and they should just as easily pad your killboard.
Thousands of people across this game manage to do what you fail to do every single day.
Hey Mr. Good, you do realize that once the ship has initiated warp, your bubble will not catch them, right?
The point still stands - ratters get an audio warning before you have loaded into system and initiate warp to their safe/pos/station. Your dictor won’t do anything to stop them.
What part of:
and
was difficult for you to understand?
Also, please explain why so many people lose mining and ratting ships in nullsec every day if Local makes it such an impossibility.
The part where you have no idea what you are talking about and are apparently only here to troll.
This proves my point, Mr. Troll. Have fun with your troll life, I will not be responding to ragebait any longer.
Oh, grow the fu¢k up.
Have you tried not behaving like a toddler over a typo?
This might be the single dumbest thing I’ve ever read on the EVE forums, and that’s saying a lot. Wow. Zero points.
First and foremost, I’m not going to bother responding to you directly - you say you live in J-Space, but you’re clearly a Scan Stakan alt-poster.
We’re not saying we don’t catch people in low and null - check the killboard; we do that fairly often. We’re saying that it’s a problem that local (and tools like localthreat) makes “the most dangerous space in the game” into a “watch local and dock up” Carebear Orgy Pile of Fun - which it clearly encourages.
That’s it. That’s the tweet.
(The irony of a 37% dangerous - and 28% ISK efficient character saying “git gud”. GTF outta here.)
Local was never supposed to be an intel tool - it is a relic of a more innocent time for people to chat to one another. The intel tools that were supposed to be in use are DSCAN, Probes and Scouts.
