I understand, brought it as example but I guess that many are the mechanics dubbed as negative or frustrating for new players.
I thought about this and agree… Maybe slapping the “real EVE” on their faces is not a good idea as it may also become a deterrent. This is why I think if they are prompted about being introduced to the game with some “extras” that in time wear off, well, maybe most of them will understand. And keep in mind is not only about bumping… there are many other things that bother newbies like sunburn or corroded hinges on their eyewear, who knows.
I know it’s more difficult than the way I put it and I don’t have the knowledge to name them all. I’m just opening a window to show the possibility of making changes directly on the characters instead of the environment or the whole game, making use of the time and SP as attributes not only to engage but also to disengage features like this interdiction nullification on shuttles… I could argue is a lie too, and might be abused maybes… I mean, having 4 day old rorqual pilots? who can figure what they can do with a nullified chottel. So it would be better to keep some stuff limited to LS and/or HS depending on the case and only until they train frigs 4 or cruisers 3, or after 4 months… whatever comes first.
Like fancy GFX & SFX, most like them for a while, then… meh… most just switch them off. It’s part of growing.
IDK, maybe it is wiser and less resource consuming to have e-scooter drivers with helmets instead of upholstering the cities with foam padding.
But eventually, they might hit a car anyways.
Real stats to begin with, especially in regards to the BO and the debacle the numbnuts at CCP created. Real answers and not PR BS would be a close 2nd. And that is just to begin with. An official and public apology about this debacle would be welcome as well
Do you really think any company would apologize? If no, don’t expect it from CCP. BO was no fiasco, it created great content. And it was a good learning experience.
I am going to assume this Gobbins guy is CSM.
Alarmed because the login numbers were so bad, even though CCP is dumb enough to not admit it and not admit the error of its ways…As far as CCP paying attention, they will have to prove that, and not just one time, but countless times over. And they will have to never again mess up with null sec operations in the dumb way they did. In the meantime, I will probably join @Xucca and be a month to month Omega, and for sure not purchase any more plex until CCP shows me their good intentions and until those idiots provide some real answers as far as their stupidity these past 2 month
They showed the CSM the stats. They aren’t going to show the players the stats because that’s proprietary information that could have an impact on the company’s bottom line. We have enough data from what is public to know the numbers are bad. It’s not like anybody’s going to dispute that, but they’re never going to confirm it or else that’s the lead story in all the gaming press.
Here’s a protip: everything the company says is an exercise in PR. That’s what this all is. The CSM was begun as a PR exercise after the T20 incident, so that’s been part of the point of it from the beginning. There’s never going to be a time when you’re going to get unvarnished answers to anything, so wishing for it is pointless.
What do they have to apologize for? They tried something and it didn’t work. This wasn’t a bug or some kind of service failure - it did was it was supposed to do, and the players didn’t like it. Even then, they’re still evaluating the data to see if there weren’t any upsides.
Does an apology fix anything that happened? Not in this case. That would just be another exercise in PR, which you’ve already said you don’t want any more of.
Those stats CCP and CSM are looking at need to be public. It will be a good lesson for Hillmar and co to not screw around anymore. And that is what it needs to be: lead story in all gaming press, on how dumb CCP got for over 3 month
What they have to apologize for is this 2+ month debacle. If they had spent even 2 seconds thinking, instead of smoking, getting drunk or whatever those idiots were doing at their offices, they would have realized that it was a bad idea. Hell, one doesnt need to have degrees from MIT to figure that one out. Upsides for them? sure, forums turning into a battlefield vs CCP…
Facts can only hide for some time. Eventually they will surface.
And about apology… well, I don’t think it’s in place, but it’s an honorable way to handle stuff.
Maybe some people would love to continue in EVE while the facts are hidden, while no one can specify where the north is, or while you are purchasing 12 months of joy end up being 2 possible ways:
Either you are a scumbag, whining about BO for giving you the elite PVP higher ground for 45 days and then taking it away,
Or you are a laidback phata$$ careboar which setup, built for 2 years was obliterated in 2 months and your friends are gone.
Whatever the case, I think I rather have that apology.
P.S.: The apology doesn’t require stating it won’t happen again. I know it will never repeat.
If they do make them public, it will be at Vegas. Not in the CSM minutes. There’s nothing that’s going to stop Hillmar from screwing around, lol.
The concept was not a bad concept - the problem is folks didn’t react the way everybody expected. Instead of HTFU and adapting, they just logged off. The drifter thing was stupid, but blackout wasn’t obviously horrible before we started seeing how folks would adapt to it.
Too hard to accomplish. And if attending newbies require two thousand and forty two percent of all CCP assets to even try, doing that would take the Mondoschewan Army just to figure out.
We will agree to disagree on the BO. From your post, I will assume you were for the BO, which is your right. No issues there. We will just agree to disagree.
The only thing that will stop Hillmar from screwing again with null sec operations is big PR disaster, such as having the whole press talking about how dumb he and his people got. And heads should definitely roll for this one
Wow, it is sad that you don’t even know the alliance leader of one of the major alliances in the game, Pandemic Horde. Yes, he is a CSM, otherwise he wouldn’t be answering those questions.
The BO is a wrong action. The alteration of the environment is what EVE needs and the BO did show it is possible to do.
The environment is a “new” tool for EVE Devs. But OMG, they have to be careful!
There was no way to adapt to BO. Believe me, we looked into it within it’s forums thread and in game.
Because the required assets for a hunter and the success rate attacking could never be compared with those needed for a productive Null setup without cheating (no bots), and it’s corresponding success rate defending. Unless you donutbrella.
Why I believe the environment is the answer to many of EVE’s issues?,
Because it is easier, as the BO demonstrated, to flip a switch instead of attempting to fix the game piece by piece.
Or this New Player Issue that they are so adamant to fix. You can’t expect CCP to work it out in separate. I try to show them that I mean, WTF is wrong with this ppl!?
Implementing an autowarp for the whole game instead of giving new players a bump-less timer of 4 months or after training some skills?
Have you any clue about the chances of an auto warp for a capital ship to be abused? Surely there is a newbie piloting it, right?
WHY!!!?
Is this the way everything related to new players will be fixed?
It will take forever and of course will do something wrong somewhere. This auto warp thing… it just takes time for some butthead to figure out and take advantage if he hasn’t already, It could happen or not but why the hell taking that effing risk?
IF CCP doesn’t learn of better, more efficient and less resource consuming ways to continue developing EVE, the game is done. No doubt.
Hes jusy another “know it all” who has no idea what hes talking about. Ignore the bastard and hell go away. Hes just a troll looking for salt even though hes complaining about giving salt when his mining ship got blown up during blackout.
It’s how the conversations are readacted sometimes. I remember panel about lowsec and general conculssions from minetues were: both sides met, talked about, agreed it’s a mess and move on. What’s the point on meeting then? Tnere were no more importatnt things to discuss? CSM must keep the wheels turning sometimes. CCP don’t play their own game or not play at hardcore level players do. You must bring players topics to csm summits. From what I see now CCP has an initiative at what will be discussed. At least what I see from every minutes I read. Yes they keep asking you floating questions sometimes but it didn’t provide any results because it’s 10 different opinions sometimes.
Here’s the thing - if CCP isn’t planning on doing anything about that subject area, you can ask for all the meetings you want and you can present whatever you want, and nothing is going to happen. This happened to me last year - I wanted to talk about FW and WHs because those communities asked us to so we had a session on that and it was basically nothing, because they had nothing to talk to us about.
Exookiz’s WH this time is a perfect example of that - he came there to present to them, and it was all him talking. The chances of WHers getting anything are unlikely because that’s not on CCP’s to do list right now.
The best sessions are the ones that both sides agree the want to have, because those are the ones where you can be sure folks are listening.
Meh, I see no point in voting for CSM, if CCP has all the cards set. They have a game. I have time, money and input. The best courtesy would be; prior to the CSM campaign they should let us all know what topic(s) they’d want to debate, so we can review which candidate would best represent us, and refine our input to each of them. I know there will be other hectic decisions (another BO, invasion etc); so recruiters, maybe tone down your input for little while, maybe tip toe in and out of the game vs spend 10’ish hours.
