But what about the right column of Local. Many players are shown in the system, they don’t have to post to appear there.
You only appear in that column if you post text to local - unlike all others sectors of Eve.
They should do that in high sec for a week see what happens

High-sec wouldn’t be much of an issue because wars have been neutered, and ganks mostly happen to unaware targets anyway.

I see. So there’s no way to see how many players are in Null in any given system.
So how can people say “I’m a veteran and… Null is mostly empty” if the players don’t appear in local ??
null is not delayed.
From what you’ve posted so far I really think you’d enjoy a bit of wormholing - get a few scanning and hacking skills, get a cheap explorer ship, and give it a try. A Good signature-site in a class 3 will often give you enough loot for several replacement ships. Go for Relic sites, Data sites are rarely worth the bother

We’re talking about wormholes (systems starting ‘Jnnnnnn’), not Null. Links to them appear and disappear at random, and have to be scanned-down.
You’re saying I can see who’s undocked in null systems by scanning.
Is that the only way?
Still tho, if they’re docked then they’re invisible.

no you can deduce the amount of undocked by warping to structure which have the number of docked people after their name, and dock in stations to know who is there.
I think it’s best I ask my questions once I find a corporation that I want to stay in.
Many POS stations refuse docking and NPC stations are virtually non-existent in the Null systems I’ve visited.
POS stations ? WTF is that heresy ?
POS are Player Owned Starbases, therefore the category “Starbases”.
Stations are owned by NPC (no exception), they have their own category
Structures is a category that contains the groups : Engineering complex, Citadel, Refinery.
POS are mostly unused now. Well they may be used again since CCP screwed up wit structures/.
All stations are dockable. so you can see the people there.
Structure all show the number of people inside without a need to dock in.
Thought this post was about a freighters being ganked, am I in the wrong place.
In sov null there are no outposts (equivalent of stations) left. They were all converted to Upwell structures, and they show how many people are docked in them if you mouse over the structure when on grid with it.
NPC nullsec has stations.
Nullsec is not delayed, so everyone in system appears in local chat.
Wormhole space has a delayed local. No one appears in local chat unless they post there first.
It been applied to T-Space and no one has complained about it.
The worm holers have blacked out local for years, no complaints from them, only from visitors from k-space or nullsec.
Poor players and carebears need local to see who’s in system.
