For Folks who are 'Leaving'

There is no such thing as a rookie talking injectors, trade routes, etc…
These aren’t the rookies you’re looking for.
You can go about your business.
Move along.

That cocktail is made up of three parts direct CCP marketing, and one part ignorant Reddit misinformation. Occasionally it will be garnished with a dash of asinine bullcrap from “advice” that new players pick up from their high-sec carebear corporation directors.

I deal with new players a lot and have these conversations relatively often as well, especially those when I try to explain that injecting tens of millions of SP won’t suddenly make them invincible (which is how they get into these injector-transporting situations in the first place). And no, I don’t take screenshots/recordings of every chat I have with someone just to have something in my pocket to throw at some moron during a forum debate.

I guess but Id never use a Leopard while regular shuttles exist.

Maybe Im just a miser.

I seriously doubt that. I’ve never seen you in Help Chat.

LOL

In-game channels are echo chambers of idiocy. Half the time they’re just getting spammed by someone. I do one-on-ones, usually with people I recruit or talk to on various other forums.

And in many cases people who were in corporations that were my war targets.

Same, I like flying cheap as well and rarely use modules beyond t2. Especially now that I set myself the goal to eventually get a jump freighter, which is going to take me ages as I detest most ways of making ISK. :joy:

But the Leopards 20AU/s looks really sweet…

Anyway, back to the topic:

I wouldn’t make a goodbye post on the forums. Primarily because I never ‘definitely’ stop playing a game, I just find something else to take my interest and usually come back to the game later.
Also if a game is worth enough of my thoughts and emotions to make a goodbye post, I wouldn’t say goodbye to that game.

I had a JF for ages, I really loved it. But then several things happened; Drifters, CVAs collapse and cyno changes all of which made solo JF play not very viable.

The final nail was the construction changes driving the price to stupid o’clock

Good to see you didn’t take to the forums to write about how unfair it all was, trash the game, the devs, the players and whatever else. You stayed and adapted.
Would be happy to fly cyno for you if you ever need someone.

Well I have my issues with some changes over time, but frankly I consider it all a challenge.

Finding something new to do when you arent part of a group can be tricky, and CCP doesnt make it easier by turning dials on stuff thats already pretty hard to 11.

But tbh until they stop me cruising belts in an Arby picking up scrap to add to my vast pile, its not going to chase me away.

Tbh I wrecked some dreams a long long time ago and have been waiting on karma to come for me.

I didnt expect it in the form of Structure Cores though lol

I’m selling old stockpiled JFs at an eight billion ISKie mark up over build cost and they’re still cheaper than if I were to build one now. Even after the months spent putting max research on the new component BPs.

CCP really went and did it this time.

Yeah, the constant need for adjusting to the game and searching for alternative opportunities eats at many of us - which is part of why this thread exists (to stay on topic).

Just seen this thread. Only thing I have to add is that, if well-written with clear points, I think a leaving post can provide useful feedback, bit like an exit interview at work.

I genuinely find them quite interesting to see if people share similar issues with the game as me.

What I don’t understand, and this is going to sound harsher than I intend, is the sycophants like @Mike_Azariah that spring to CCP’s defence at the mere utterance of a complaint. It’s all just feedback, it’s not like CCP get offended by it and I would imagine negative feedback from someone leaving is probably some of the most useful feedback they can get.

Here, Mike is specifically calling out leaving threads that are antagonistic and not well written.

The CSM are Liaisons. When talking to CCP, they represent us. When talking to us, they present CCP’s side of things as CCP described it to them. Sometimes it can be confusing to separate the CSM member’s opinion from CCP’s position, but all CSM members have their own opinions and none that I am aware of are completely happy with everything CCP does.

CCP justifies what they do to the CSM, and the CSM members who talk to us relay that justification to us so we know what it was. We don’t get to see the arguments and discussion that take place to reach the conclusion, but sometimes the tired frustration a CSM member feels shows through so I know it’s happening. I think we out to lighten up on the CSM a bit. They’re not my favorite people, either, but people don’t deserve to be treated like the forum treats them.

Find a stance they’ve taken that you disagree with and attack their position. I’d like to see more of that, but I do wish we’d stop attacking the people.

There’s a difference between feedback and ranting, and I assure you that most negative feedback is absolutely useless. Go read some Amazon product reviews and note how many negative ones rail about the product or the company making it because the package got banged up during shipping or they bought some third-party listing and got a wrong/broken item, and ignorantly attribute these events to the product or the company being bad.

Half of all the people in the world (and probably way more than that) are utter mouth-breathing imbeciles, auto-piloting through life with little education and no logical/critical thinking skills to speak of. What they say/believe in is of no significance, and the people in charge of making products or public policies are aware of this. They set everything up so these mindless zombies can function with some degree of autonomy and get through their daily lives without hurting themselves or others, and hope for the best. Think about all the bitching and moaning you hear on the train station when the train doesn’t arrive on time from people who don’t even begin to comprehend the miracles of human ingenuity and abstract and scientific thought that enable something as complex as mechanized mass-scale public transportation, and you’ll get the idea.

Dude/Dudette/Whatever, I love you.
This is so exactly ■■■■■■■ it.
Eve is being marketed to “hardcore gamers” at the same time with “casual gamers”.
CCP isn’t grasping that by trying to keep both in for sweet $$$ they make it an “meh” game for either group.

That is not true.

So why do you post these ‘leaving’ posts?

Consider a number of those posts like a ‘review’. Usually a negative review. Feedback, if you will. An open letter explaining one’s grievances and of why the game isn’t fun anymore and why they are leaving. The ones that continue to stick around and post nonsense day in and day out are most likely your everyday forum trolls. The ones who maybe respond a few times for a few days and then cease all transmissions? They’re gone. They moved on. There’s tens of thousands of video games out there in today’s market, an over-saturation is probably a better word for it. It doesn’t matter these days if you got a ‘unique’ video game product. You can have unique ■■■■ and it’ll be passed over for something more enjoyable.

We play games to have fun, not to turn it into a second job. If a game, such as this one, becomes too annoying, too frustrating, or just too much of a hassle to deal with, it’s not like there’s a desert of entertainment out there. Its more like a rainforest.

Over the recent years I’ve kind of grown fond of singleplayer games (that are NOT ‘early access’, aka permanent beta) as they’re often set in stone once released and I can be sure to return to them at any time and the gameplay isn’t going to be radically different or altered to the point where I don’t recognize it anymore.

Removed several off topic posts from the past two days and issued some moderation actions.

Keep it civil and on topic, thanks.
