For Folks who are 'Leaving'

The game design is to maximize player angst, so they could be something in what you’re saying. Players do become seriously angry, I’m no stranger to rage quitting from time to time and leaving CCP really shitty feedback. Wouldn’t be Eve online otherwise, or I could have been a sadist in my previous life and get some form of enjoyment from the occasional rage rant.

Or perhaps choose to behave like an adult and not use others/a game forum/CSM representatives as emotional punching bags.

You present it as if you have no choice in this.

Directly leaving CCP shitty feedback is a given especially after a wholesome rage quit.

Damn straight, me and thousands of others. As a ten-year bitter vet, I’ve earned the right xD. Paid my dues as they say. Look at it another way means we give a ■■■■, instead of leaving and never coming back, a couple of weeks later back to login in.

I can guarantee that I and many people I know have individually lost more in this game than the average rage-quit crybear, and none of us have ever whined or threw a tantrum over it. It’s a matter of emotional intelligence; some people simply have more of it than others, like for example those people who start yelling out death threats just because the car in front of them on the highway is going 3 miles per hour slower than they’d prefer to.

This used to be a self-correcting problem in the old days, but contemporary society’s tendency to round out all the sharp edges has ensured that these people thrive instead of Darwining themselves out of existence.

No, you haven’t. Nothing excuses you from behaving like an emotionally stunted toddler.

Also 10 years isn’t bittervet.

Each to their own, the saying as it goes is “ten-year bitter vet” so we will have to disagree on that score as well. 13yr bitter vet does not have the same ring to it if you ask me, which I’m sure you didn’t. Most of the time I’m usually bitter after five minutes of playing Eve so personally think I’m quite patient. o7

Maybe that is because unlike the steam review players, players who have found their way to the forums are too invested into the game to be able to actually leave?

No I was saying that threads I do recall being there seem to be missing now.

hmm..

I don’t. Some things should have been plainly discarded. This JF issue.. man, I don’t know why those changes, really..

It is far from disagreement or lack of stamina to face change.. It’s the lack of innovation what hurts!

Now, dat “CVA collapse” I saw you threw back there… that IS an issue! It ruined my source of fun.. If there ever was a place for guaranteed action… read my lips!

But yep.. lack of invention.. I’ve always seen it as simple laziness.. What was done to JFs’ and cynos.. I wonder if it worked as intended.. in terms of cost-benefit In Game fun-ability.

Much like how I dont let people calling me names in the forums make me quit, I dont let CCP reducing or removing features I like stop me having fun.

I might only fly T1 pve and do hauling now, but eh its still more engaging to me than MWO or FFXIV or that crappy game that dares call itself CP.

What did they do to JFs?

This is what we’re talking about:

Now, there are changes that affected JF’s more than interventions to the hull itself.
It does not make JFs unusable.. it’s specified that it is not viable for solo.

Which is contradictory.. IMO. JFs should be easier on the solo micromanaging.. I guess in practice, what Ramona meant.

Chomp Freitors require too much effort for a “transport” task, you could say… nut then again, It’s speis, it’s dangerous and it’s handled by “people” which indeed makes it worse!

BTW… you want to know what I hate about “losing” ground in EVE?
It’s not the land, dude! I’m used to dwell crappy space, my friend!
It’s not bookmarks, location, etc… I have loyal friends, so losing ground is not an issue.

ITS MOVING STUFF WHAT I HATE THE MOST IN EVE!

I actually like that part.
If you ever want to sell some stuff, but its somewhere awkward, contract me, I buy nearly anything.

But you has el setup!

Nothing against the social function of moving, m8!.. that’s cool.
But casual transport should be a tic more solo friendly… both NULL and more @ hiseks.

Totally agree.

But then CCP dont want self reliant players, they want happy groups of people.

But that is precisely why, as a noob, I stayed rather than quit when it all seemed too horrendously complex or angsty, or mining seemed 1000 times more boring than watching paint dry. I was not going to be defeated by it. During the first few days it did all seem like it sucked…but I stayed on and now that I understand it all a lot more each day it is brilliant.

We’re going to go round in circles if I continue replying. In short, it is feedback, it shouldn’t influence decision making, but it is part of a broader picture. To give an example, someone may post a leaving post “I’m quitting because I got ganked for the 14th time on the Jita undock” which may happen to correlate with the metrics CCP see with respect to sub cancellation reasons and feedback in-game which may then help them form an opinion that something needs to be done.

CMs almost certainly gather such feedback from all over the place, that’s usually their job.

Agree that the forming of such opinions should be scientific, data science is an important discipline and objective measures should trump subjective opinion, but both are important in providing context upon which design decisions can be made.

Me. I was the goober

Maybe it’s off topic but.. here is my take with an example:

Kill marks..
You have no idea how they looked in my mind as keystone for reforming PVP..
What are they for? --effing cosmetics?-- WTF!

I has a gallery with a couple of hulls just showing their “decommission goal” of 50 KMs..
Why were they not used more in game? why they have no significance, no benefit, no followup, nada!
There is no prize for having more KMs, no gain in agility, no reduction in sig rad, nothing!
Why?

No discount or money back on insurance.. WHY!!!11

Laziness. I mean, having the tools to make such simple thing so much fun and not taking chances..

That’s why the game feels so… pumice is the word I like to use.. there seems to be quite the intentions but seldom follow-through.

It seems like yes, they DO want to do somethings but suddenly it’s archived, or something..

Imagine if KMs had any significance.. that the hull will keep it even after transport.. all those nice things we cannot have because someone is lazy or has lack of creativity..
Imagine real a chase, blue KMs for when you shoot a hull that has 5+ KMs.. peeps would literally DIE to get a prize based on KMs.. something unique..

That’s the issue with EVE. They seem to be segregated, no common goal, no cohesion, no plan.. That’s why perhaps you feel that they lost focus on individuals in favor of groups they too criticize sometimes.. --or at least a couple of them–

Now, IF I… wanted to leave this game with a rant in spite of this OP… this would be part of it..
Will someone listen?

Meh.. perhaps Ramona and a bunch of creeps like some I used to know.
