For the few, rather than the many

Looks like CCP did that with todays offer: The price for the sub is down to 8,21 € per month ! (8,96 if you don’t want to got for a full year and only take the 6 month option.)

It’s a limited offer until 01.11. 12h MEZ but if it runs well it may be back soon or even get permanent. Will you get it or fiind another reason not to?

I’ve been thinking about the impact of CCP’s “20m sp” change.

I know a lot of older players with alt accounts who plex them with isk from skill extraction. They basically keep the account omega by extracting all the SP they get while the account is omega. They also get to run PI on those accounts and keep whatever skills they have trained already (even above 20m sp).

I wonder if the impact of the change to ALPHA would be that some of them let those “stagnant skill” accounts go alpha. The still may keep most of the skills… but they won’t be consuming PLEX… both the plex needed to extract skills and the plex needed to sub the account. That might cause PLEX prices to decrease… allowing more active alpha player to go omega more easily using PLEX.

It will be interesting to see the actual impact of the change… it might end up benefiting the new players significantly more than you expect.

Looks like the new Agency system is what us casual old timers is looking for, once they fill more content into it. So I guess CCP agrees with me, that EVE needs to be for more than the few… Who´d have thunk it…

May bee yore zeno fobbia culd bee two blame.

Hmm, interesting… Why am I zenophobic, sir?
The quierie about US nationality was simply me trying to find out, why someone keeps reading what I say, like the devil reads the bible. You read into that, that Im zenophobic. But in reality, youre just using the “Im rubber, youre glue”-argument lol.

But no, I dont hate Americans. I just dont understand many of them, and they seem to not understand me. We speak from completely different standpoints of understanding, is all. Call it a natural cultural disparity, if you wanna scholar the point up.
If US people find my remarks insulting, Im sorry. But thats not really my problem.

You accused me of doing that too, and I’m not American. Sorry if that spoils your theory and exposes your irrational desire to ‘blame the Americans’

Desire is such a strong word…
And its technically not a “theory”. Its more of a hypothesis. If you were interested in removing such stigma, for real, you´d design an “anti-thesis”. That way we can both approach a much more fruitful goal of reaching a “synthesis”. See how that works? Its quite beautiful, really. But alas! It seems like people are more concerned with being “offended”, when others dont fall flat down on our knees in front of your opinions and views.
But enough of this idle banter.

Ill just go do something else, while I wait for another person to call me something less than intelligent lol. What WILL you think of next, Internet!

hypothesis
noun
noun: hypothesis; plural noun: hypotheses

a supposition or proposed explanation made on the basis of limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation. “his ‘steady state’ hypothesis of the origin of the universe”

synonyms: theory, theorem, thesis, conjecture, supposition, speculation, postulation, postulate, proposition, premise, surmise, assumption, presumption, presupposition

As for the rest, no thank you. Not jumping down that rabbit hole. You make the Mad Hatter look positively sane.

Yep, I know  And yet youre the one following the fool. Who´s the bigger fool? The fool or the one that follows
Im not sure what your copy/paste of the dictionary is supposed to show us, but I like it! In this age of #FakeNews, we have to keep correcting each other, endslessly. Good job! I also correct people all the time. And even wrongfully so! Sure is fun!

PS. When the dictionary calls the term “theory” a synonym of the term “hypothesis”, it only shows, that they know nothing about the terms lol. Hypothesis is the state of a theory, before its really an academic theory. Its a theory “under construction” if you will. But its all a moot point, since we humans are busy NOT understanding each other hehe.

He’s right. Using theory as synonym for hypothesy might be how it’s used nowadays, but it’s still wrong. A hypothesy is not a theory, just like theory is not practise. In theory they’re the same, but in practise they aren’t. Idk why it’s wrong on the website you forgot to link, but it definitely is wrong. Always stick to scientific accuracy. (another example: “feelings” and “emotions” don’t mean the same thing at all, yet many wrongly believe so) Operative language, E-prime for the english speaking, is good for the brain. Reading Robert Anton Wilson’s books helps too and they’re all fun to read.

From Quora (thanks, Google):

In scientific terms; A hypothesis is either a suggested explanation for an observable phenomenon, or a reasoned prediction of a possible causal correlation among multiple phenomena. In science, a theory is a tested, well-substantiated, unifying explanation for a set of verified, proven factors.

I guess it’s a sign of times. It’s not “Fake News”, though. It’s flat out systemic stupidity. People wrongly defining words themselves, because of MUH INDIVIDUALISM, leads straight to a dystopian nightmare. (Where we are heading anyway)

Anyhow, carry on.

So, your “hypothesis” is that 320 million people that have ancestral backgrounds from all over the world and live in an area of similar size as Europe spanning over climate zones from tropical to subartic, in a nation that has freedom and individuality as one their most important core values, that has one of the widest spans between the extremes of social status (among OECD countries), that hose people share a common view towards you because of their nationality?

Seriously? I would call you a ■■■■■■■ racist if this would be less idiotic.

People don’t like you because you come over as a cocky, uddersucking attention whore that talks out of his ass and completely lacks any understanding of the basic concepts of the topics he’s talking about. Nationality has nothing to do with it, on the contrary: in not liking you (as you present yourself in your post), people from all Nations unite - at least one achievement you can be proud of.

Indeed! :cow:

lol oh dear.
I seem to have proved my hypothesis, that I tend to make US-citizens very angry…

If you need a little help understanding whats going on, Id be happy to help you, Cow. What you react to in this thread, is me reacting to someone else calling me less than friendly things and others trying to paint me with a certain feces-covered pensel, if you will. You then react to my reaction, and rather hotheaded too!

But in order to clear this mess up Id like to make a statement:
I DONT dislike America. Ive actually visited it twice, and liked it, mostly. However. On social media (like this forum) or on Twitter etc. I ONLY ever get angry responses and attack-posts, from people from the US. Now, it MAY just be a coincidence, but I fear it may just be me, that dosent speak the same lingo and use the same humor, as Americans are used to. Im not sure what the cause is for it. But it happens.

That said, I aint gonna appologize for being me. Just as you Arent gonna appologize for being you.
On another note, just to adress it clearly:
When you use such polemic terms as “racist” and such, you need to understand what youre doing. FIrstly, youre using the term wrong. US citizens are not a unique “race”. Some would even argue, that US is one of the most racist demographies in the world. I wouldnt go that far, but you guys seem to arrest all the coloured folk, and promote all the christian white rich people. Now THAT could be called a racially unfair culture.
Me, on the other hand, just wonder about the US-mindset, in general, and on the media-feeds. Where everybody not American, are always a little inferior in their eyes. So yeah, its all in the POV ofc.
But Ill be happy to appologize to any non-aggressive US-citizens, that might wander in here. But you, dear CowQueen, I sure enjoy talking to, in this fashion. So Ill keep doing that, if you insist.

Btw, how do you guys like the new Bloodline-patch? Looks pretty good, so far, huh?

Americans dont much like teaparties. They add too much salt to the tea (If you need a picture to understand, they threw all the tea into the salty ocean in Boston, some time ago…).

But I like a good cuppa Darjeeling STFU-blend…

You can call it one all day long, it still isn’t one. Also, I am not an US citizen.

… is you writing absolutely ■■■■■■■■.

Assuming there is one generic Us-mindset, is called racist these days. There are more kinds of racism than just discrimination by biological race (which is apparently widely argued if he human species even consists of different races in the true sense of the word).

Well, since its not possible to find a synthesis between a view that lacks knowledge, and a view thats just pointing out the obvious, it seems pointless to try and argue about it heh.
If you find me racist, thats fine. Some people needs to air their dirty thoughts in public. Nothing anyone can do about that, sadly. I find you simpleminded, unnecessarily rude and quite dramatic, but thats just me. Dont take these things too serious, mam. Itll just ruin your weekend
Have a good one!

Nice that you have found something that fits your playstile. When the new alpha clones are released you an even do them in a (pirate?) BS for free. Have fun.

From my experience you only know a country (or in this case a whole continent) and its people when you have lived there for a while or at least visited a couple of times over more than a decade. For me it always follows the same pattern: When new to other people I mostly notice what seems to be strange to me. Later I begin to learn what the reasons for those strange things are and that they are only a minor aspect of the country.

For the countries I spend longer times in I came to the same conclusion: That most people in most places of the world are not much different from me when it comes down to what they want, what they need and what they think. Sometimes there is the odd thing I will never understand but when Europeans (East+West) and North Americans think they are very different from each other that’s just a lack of experience and an over-focusing on few local specialties.

Very true, sir¨. Ive travelled a lot in my life and can confirm your observation.
Regarding USA, though, Ive always loved the country and its general population. But for some reason, the last decade or so, that has just changed and stopped for me. Even the friends I have over there, take everything very personal and act very passive-aggressive socially. USA has been through a lot the last many years. I think their struggle against the whole world, thats been lasting for 200 yrs now, might have been a little too much for that hard-working people.
I hope I find the love for them again, but for now, Im very careful not to poke that relationship.

But enough about that, now. Its about the game, not the cultural problems we face in RL.
And yeah! Ill be able to fly my ships again  Well, the pirate-variety hehe. I wont be able to use T2 fittings though, which will probably be an expensive killmail lol. But thats fine. Dont fly what you cant afford, and all that.

Alphas can use a lot of usefull t2 mods. Like most tank mods and damage mods (heatsink/gyro/magstab). They will be able to fit small and medium T2 guns.

When I left the game (before returning this month) 4 yrs ago a billion ISK was a fair wad to accumulate first time round. Now? Chump change.

I’m joking…sort of.
