Ahh, nice. So all T2-mods up to medium sized ships are open for alphas? (thumbsup)
Well, just because there are some autistic market-mavericks, that can generate ridiculous amounts of isk, in short order, dosnt mean that its open for everyone. Thats the threads title too. And point in general.
This is not an E-sport game, and the general life in New Eden is meant to be fun, social and filled with what the universe can make for them. Not make it extremely fun for a few and casually interesting for the majority.
In my mind, the solution lies somewhere in the middle, where true balance often lies. Its that flow-element you want in as many as possible, to make the game a huge success, on a broader scale.
I know that there are many diehard fans out there, that never wanted EVE to become big. Its been their private little playground for almost 15 yrs. Thats understandable. But maybe you have to let go, to make it grow? Or to at least make room for new generations and people with ideas that Arent your own?'
Its in THAT spirit I wrote the OP. Not because I wanted to bitch about everything. I dont even play the game anymore lol. And the reason is just what Ive been telling you all. Whether you give a crap about me playing or not, its never good when games start making that cultural divide, that is so amply displayed in some of these posts. Lets hope both CCP and we as customers, can understand this better, before the game is dead.
Did you ever think the reason people from the US seem to dislike you is that you keep saying negative things about people from the US?
I live in the US. I responded factually and respectfully to your posts. But after the last 10 posts about āpeople in the USā⦠Iām starting to dislike you quite a bit. Maybe the way to keep US people from disliking you would be to stop stereotyping US people in negative ways.
The US is not a single cultural group⦠by any stretch. Not even regionally. When you classify the whole group by actions from a single subset⦠you piss everyone outside of that subset off. Thatās what youāve been doing in this thread. You should stop.
I agree, that you have been nice to talk to, Lena. If you feel touched by my ranting, I appologize. I tend to generalize, when talking about cultural things. But in my own life, Ive just noticed the trend very accutely, towards my US-contacts. Maybe Im a little off the mark, in this thread, regarding this topic. But I only reacted like that, because of the malignant posters argumentation.
I may have derailed the thread a bit, doing it, so Ill refrain from talking about this again here. No worries. Just dont discount the causality of the events. I was quite literally attacked in this thread first. For no apparent reason. Which triggered me into responding in kind. Mea Culpa. But dont forget to say these things to the initial culprits too, on occasion. If you want to sound like youre the adult in these issues, then you need to be more neutral, rather than pointing these things out to the one responding to the bullying. I dont see you pour your moral superiority out on the others in here? How come?
If it helps, I can be equally direct about my own nationality. I really dont like my countrymen, very much. All cultures have flaws and cultural trends, that seem weird. I dont mind that reality. I mind when people deny their own roles in social derailing. I know Im part of it. And that Im also part of the change needed to get it back on trail. Are the rest in here ready for that?
Wotan, nobody likes to have a stereotype applied to them they donāt feel should apply to them.
Sometimes it does apply but they donāt want it pointed out.
The problem with the US is that most of the time it wonāt apply. People in the US living in New York are very different than those in Atlanta who are very different than those in North Dakota who are very different than those living in Texas who are very different than those in Oregon. As others pointed out⦠the US is very big and very culturally diverse. the distance between Los Angeles and Boston by road is nearly 3000 miles. Consider that the distance between Madrid and Moscow is only 2500 miles. Trying to put a resident of Madrid and Moscow in the same box would be silly. Same applies for LA and Boston.
And it goes beyond distance in the US. I live in South Carolina. A white person born and raised in SC is from a very different culture from a black person born and raised in SC. And both are different from a hispanic person born and raised in SC. Family upbringing is different. So are the experiences that they had to deal with growing up and on a daily basis. So are the values they learn in their churches and the culture they are exposed to in their neighborhoods.
Itās a bad idea to generalize about anyone by nationality. But itās particularly useless to try to do so in the US. The US isnāt really a āmelting potā⦠the cultures donāt blend together all that quickly. Weāre more like a buffet where you get a lot of different dishes on your plate. Trying to describe them as a whole isnāt going to work very well⦠just like classifying all of europe from Portugal to Russia as one entity using one description is probably not going to work great.
But yeah⦠Iāll stop too. WAAAY off-topic.
Mate, you can make a plex just doing exploration in a throwaway frigate.
Last time I did faction warfare I got like 17000 lp I think for a small plex, which became 35mil. In one night in a t1 atron, running away from everyone till I had made 150mil in lp which was easy because the mechanics give you c.20seconds to decide if you want the fight, then diying in a ball of flames for fun. 150mil made, 10mil lost. Ten nights in a month youāve got a plex.
And thatās log on play straight away, speak to people if you want ito, or lone wolf it, instant gratification, easy isk.
Also regarding generalisations, the āyoung peopleā you know might not be representative of their whole generation.
Honestly, eve is very easy now, even if you arenāt autistic.
Ps. Itās confusing that a plex is both a gold plex thing and where fw fights happen, but I think I made sense
You canāt come up with 1.5bil with all of the options open today and unlimited time to do so, that is sadly a you problem. A billion and a half a month isnāt an issue, particularly one with a skill queue, just got to get over that initial buy in.
Agreed. But its that āinitial buyinā that seems silly to me. because Ive spend maybe 1000 dollars already, on this game, back when I played a lot. Id rather not pour more into something Im only gonna play for nostalgia and casual fun. But yeah, I get it now: ISK is rather easy to get now. And with the increased Alpha-state, Im sure more will find it easier too.
Then pay the sub or quit whining.
You have as long as you need to get back to omega statusā¦which is like a week if you are even moderately trying.
I work better than full time and have a life also, its not hard.
Oh my dear lord, is OP still crying? Get a job, dude. 15 bucks really isnāt much money. Do you live in Yemen or something?
Regretting the sunken costs? Try to see it like that: You get far more benefit from every additional month of sub than I do. While I pay for a pilot that can buy, fly and lose T1 ships you can play your veteran pilot for the same price and roam in advanced tec. Or in more or less the same stuff than me but for free. I bought my very first pirate Battleship this weekend and hope to get it into our WH in one piece. LowSec static, letās hope for the best.
Yep, I suppose.
Anywho, the howling choir is back in the thread, screaming for my head for āwhiningā. Ill give them a little leeway, let them quiet down a bit. Life is too short for people of that particular ilk lol. See you in space!
Iām a little confused on this.
I played eve back in 2006 for about a year and again in 2008-2009 before coming back with Alpha clones. During the 2008-2009 year I subbed a second account. So I spent maybe 400 dollars on the game in total. I stayed in high sec the whole time⦠played mostly solo and was not particularly good at the game. (note⦠Iām still not very good⦠but Iām better than I was back then). I came back to wallets totaling about 2-3b isk and assets probably around 5-10b (no idea how to value a bunch of fully researched BPOās). If youāve invested more than double what I did⦠how do you not have enough assets or isk on your accounts to plex right away without using any real world money?
I chose to keep my isk and pay to play⦠but I could have subbed a few months right away if I chose. Now a year later⦠I have enough isk to sub for a couple of years and still have a decent amount left over⦠and I probably wouldnāt have been there if I had been using my isk to sub rather than to invest the whole time. But itās not like I didnāt have the isk to sub right away when I came back. Did you really leave the game with that little after 5-6 years of gametime?
Yeah, I can understand that, if you look at it proportionally like that. However, I never worried much about earning isk in EVE, back when I was active for real. I had plenty of RL money, and didnt mind supporting the āprojectā, lets say.
Right now, Im between jobs, but I actually CAN afford it, but Id rather cut the overall expenses i live by, till I start my new job. I live in one of the most expensive cities on earth (true story).
Now, my private economy isnt the concern of anyone, but myself. So Id rather discuss this from a typical consumer standpoint.
The vast majority of game-consumers, are kids or middleclass-people. Some are struggling in RL but STILL pay for games, to make their day a little bit brighter. ALl the new things in EVE have now made it easier to play for free, which makes me really happy to see. And Im sure much of this threads arguments, have slowly been dismantled by us normal people and by the ever-present trolls and fan-bois. So yeah, while my initial post (OP) might now be completely pointless, it still enlightened me about the state of the game, and showed me, that EVE is moving from being for the few, to maybe being for the many.
So yeah, success! We are now wiser and can move on, individually. Unless others have anything to add?
Personally, Im gonna stay out of EVE Omega. I might play a little as alpha, but I doubt it. And thats fine. No harm done. Ive certainly had my fun in EVE back then. I just feel I already paid for it and Id rather not grind or pay to play, further. But thats just me.
āThe above paragraphs were improved be the commitee of Whiners & Dinners. No trolls were injured or maimed, during these proceedingsā
Knew it!
Log off the internet spaceship forums and go get a job, you hippie.

Best way to keep PLEX prices down is to increase rl wages, so people can buy more. More realistic than waiting for CCP to nerf passive afk ratting income.
Or people could just sub to the game with $$$ instead of asking for PLEX price changes.
Agreed. Subscriptions are good for the game. Keeping Omega by buying PLEX with ISK is not something that makes sense in the long run, with a few exeptions ingame and out. The average player will pay $1200 for 10 years of EVE on an Account, which is not much for something that he or she will spend so much time with. Of course, the more Accounts you have, the more youād might be inclined to use in-game wealth to save in RL.
Are there any numbers of the average no. of accounts per person btw?
They did release that info a few years ago, Iām sure someone will uncover itā¦
It was 2.? accounts per person if I remember correctly.
