Rorqual now extremely important for moon mining and compression

I really like these changes. Keep up the good work, CCP!

Yes mining is 1/2 per cycle, the type-b mining crystal counters the reduction by having better cycle benefits.

So yes a bit slower than before. But the amount possible to mine with good skills even with waste could surpass what was mined before, just takes a little longer. Just watch out for those using type-c mining crystals as the intentionally trying to turn your rocks into waste dust.

TY. I haven’t had time to read through the whole thread yet. :kissing_heart:

That’s the waste. Better skills and modules reduce that waste.

Thank you. I must have missed that.

Looks like you haven’t read the excel they linked before commenting, because the Endurance now has 25 bandwidthimage

as somebody who managed a highsec/lowsec industrial corp, i can tell that while some of the changes in this update are good, a literal buttload of them are simply stupid.

as if it was not enough, that reprocessing (even with maxed skills, station, rigging and implant bonuses) had ā€œwasteā€ which was not recoverable, CCP introduces another ā€œmechanicā€ which adds ā€œmining wasteā€ā€¦ sorry but not sorry, if you donĀ“t have any brain matter left, CCP, stop making changes like these.

you upped the amount of ore, just so every second cycle will be lost… so you basically did nothing at all.
tiering of those mining crystals had to be done by some crack-smoking jackass as well, because there is nobody, who“d even think about using those low yield high waste crystals, and still be sane.

also, who the hell brought up that stupid idea of ore loss on compression? like… seriously?

if you want to actually IMPROVE mining and industrial gameplay, first return moon mining and mineral distribution to how it worked BEFORE these stupid changes you did, just lower mineral yields by 25-40%. Leave ore compression be. I think there is no point in explaining that compression of RL materials yield no losses, so there is absolutely no reason to introducing something THIS unrealistic in EVE.

also, the idea that ONLY faction modules will have basically no mining waste is ridiculous. there is no real reason as to why this should be a thing. If you really insist on keeping that horrendous waste mechanic, fine… T1 miners - 20% mining waste probability, and the same for waste amount… T2, half of that on both accounts, faction modules 5% on both… that would be fair.

and then there is the thing about asteroid belts and moons…
dunno if you know anything about how asteroid belts came to be, but if not, read up and start thinking with your brains, instead of your arses. asteroid belts are remnants of moons and planets, or they are remnants of matter that did not form into planets and moons, so they contain ALL the materials that make up moons and planets. Logically, moons should contain ore that can be found in regular belts, and vice versa. Moon ore could be found in very small quantities in regular belts this way, as well as regular ore could be found in moons, both in reduced quantities.

so yeah… this update is the worst you released, ever. this is how it looks when developers donĀ“t give a single flying f**k about actual players, but listen only to themselves and to ā€œvoted representativesā€ in CSM that care about nothing else, but their own, personal agendas.

all those nerfs to Rorquals were made based on complaints from people that would like to oppose Goonswarm, but canĀ“t afford it, because GSF has too much Rorqs that produce vast quantities of minerals which are used in fleet building… there is a reason why there is a Delve Time Unit… looks like you forgot about that too.

so overall, this update managed to ruin more stuff than it improved.

P.S.: those rules for criticism are quite stupid as well… ideas come from people, they donĀ“t just exist, so if you donĀ“t like us criticizing devs, deal with it. management and devs come up with ideas, and since it is so, PEOPLE must be criticized for doing stupid decisions and for coming up with ideas that ruin gameplay.

end of rant.

CODE will be happy

Meh, they’re always happy as long as you don’t make miners harder to kill. Any other outcome is good for them.

We are already seeing a rise in mining and wealth generation, both post war but also in new opportunities like gas mining. Gas compression should make that even more interesting.

thanks, the team is updating the excel sheet based on community feedback.

that used to be true in the bad old days, but we are striving for a healthier balance of mining ships

Really glad to hear that!

By making several of them easier to kill?

I’m not saying this flippantly, the Skiff was designed for defense, but its defenses are now significantly impaired. If the goal is to reduce the number of certain ships, make them harder to build - it’s worked for several other ship types.

I think its fair to say that this is the direction with capitals. We are not trying to incentivize multiboxing carriers, faxes nor dreads. The vision is that a rorqual is a flagship for mining fleets, boosting and more interesting things, being the center for teamwork.

As always, it’s never enough for carebears.

Some good changes that add a bit of variety and teamwork/interaction opportunities while taking away from the super grindbear options.

Whether or not the exact numbers need some tweaking, which simply takes time to figure out, it’s obviously a well thought out update.

Let’s just hope it’s not bogged down by bugs

We love indy players, they are the backbone of the ecosystem and responsible for the creation. Without them there is no PVP. Rorqual and rorqual fleets however, mined too much and in doing so both took opportunity from more players, and devalued their products. This is a good change for the majority.

We will continue with updates, as we have done throughout the year on both the ESS, DBS and nullsec meta.

And so you nerfed Orcas, Porps, and reduced the overall yield for all miners? Nerf the rorqs, fine, but this wasn’t a surgical strike, it was a carpet bombing.
