From Extraction to Production

These changes make me sad. Seems to alienate people from the game. New players will not be welcome to mining fleets, same with people too lazy to train into T2s. Mining drones and excavators are now pretty worthless. Rorqs are extremely blingy boosters while the added compression to orcas is nice but they are so flimsy that they are not worth the isk to risk them in a belt or anom. Procs and skiffs have less tank. The waste will drive others away as it will not be worthwhile to many.

Essentially it seems like this is more of a push to get people to plex to skill or buy their skill packs. I am disappointed with the entire thing.

MAIN TAKEAWAYS:

  1. preventing orcas/porpoises from moon ore compression is silly
  2. they didn’t really nerf mining drones by more than 25-33%
  3. primae/kryos/hoarder have a new lease on life but Miasmos got nerfed…but who hauled ice/gas anyways?
  4. what the hell is type C crystal for? griefing???
  5. and why on god’s green earth are they gonna confuse everyone by naming the class of ores the same as moon ore crystals?
  6. you can’t bump orcas anymore (the heavy water costs 500k cr and lasts almost 2 hours)

MAIN BUGS
[a] the ice hold doesn’t show up on info panels
[b] icicle quantity was never boosted by 200% previously (unless you want to really spin doctor things)
[c] compressed gas can’t go into gas hold
[d] you can compress moon ore at upwells
[e] mining drone info sheets won’t update unless you launch and right click them with active core

i wonder if the CSM, in their infinite wisdom, was able to “blunt” the nerf to orca/rorq - and in the process protect their precious null bloc advantage of excavator drones not having their droning boost being removed entirely.
If so, that was a stupid idea. personally, mining drones should never have more power. why excavator drones exist is beyond my comprehension.
Get rid of mining drone boost entirely from siege like modules and allow moon ore compression for orca/porpoise.

It’s really disappointing change. Waist of players time.

Based on the information you have provided I have stopped my subscription renewal. I would also like a refund of the ISK I paid for an orca which is now useless to me. The income stream from HS mining is now shot to pieces. I do not see it as a long term proposition to continue playing this game particularly for the type and style of play I like to participate in.

“Mining warfare” - depleting resources of enemies basically.

Problem:

The Porpoise can fit a mobile ore compressor. But you can only load it from cargo, not ore hold. Now, it is possible to run it. If you’re a glutton for punishment.

Fill your cargo with ore. load the compressor. refill your cargo. load the compressor.

You’re loading around 6250 veld per cycle. you need 43k to run it. That’s 7 cycles of loading in space.

If the rorqual is going to serve as massive boosting ship, can you please refund the year and a half of SP it took me to get it? on top the 11 bil to buy it fitted and such?

but is better than put a 2b ship for compressing. I think now than miasmos is destroyed, people use DST in the belt, and compress in stations or citadels. If get the fuel to porpoise/orca is now difficult, not much sense at all.

Many DST now in belts, not sens to put an orca or a freighter to do so.

FTFY.

it is sheer greed , it wouldnt be too bad if we can use an Omega account (Rorq / Orca) and one Alpha account for mining with at least we would get the boost we wouldnt be as useless , but nope … as it stand to get the most benefit from this change is to chug into another Omega account to benefit from the new and improved “boosts” to make it as equal as it was before when we were doing it solo …

I took a look at the changes on Singularity … On the orca the mining bonuses are all still there but the Drones went from 262/m3 on live down to 87/m3 on Singularity i’m really confused as what changed exactly we still have the +50% drone mining yield for the industrial bonus and we still have the +100% drone mining yield for the role bonus.

the new compressor requires 35 days of training for the tech 2 variant which grant an additional +125% drone mining yield (even with the new bonus to drone mining yield it’s no where close to that Live 262/m3)… No clue on the price of the compressor , let me guess 1b - 5b ? the book itself is 26mil

look again. you need to deploy drones to check the boost the new siege modules gives them.

Mining waist plus no belts to mine no anomalies in Hi-sec, plus drone yield nerf, it kills mining even more. You could build Orca in hi sec, but now it’s not possible.

If the solo benefits of fielding a rorq or an orca are going to be so drastically decreased, there will be no incentive to put an asset that valuable on the field that is locked in place for 5 minutes. Decrease the siege timer on the indy cores to match the decreased yield or eliminate it entirely and there will still be big ships in the belts.

Did they say what the requirements for the new industrial core are? Is it the same as the original skill? Is it different?

Precisely. It would be reasonable to reduce or eliminate the siege timers on the Indy Cores altogether to bring it into line with the reduced yields. Rorq, and now Orca, pilots are not going to want to commit assets that valuable to the field with such a small personal benefit to themselves. It’s true that the fleet benefits are increased by these changes but from my personal experience as a single account player that likes to mine for himself while helping the fleet at the same time, I won’t be able to justify undocking those enormous losses (as any EVE player knows, if it’s undocked it’s already dead) if the risk is that high and the personal benefit so low.

Compression in a porpoise is significantly more efficient than in a station. like 6 or 7% iirc.
It’s also free (no fuel). Just cap and a 60 second cycle.

(compression has changed. it’s now 1-1. 1 veldspar converts to 1 compressed veldspar. which is just significantly smaller. yay, things below 0.01m3. The waste is front loaded with what you feed into the compressor)

Agreed

@CCP_Dopamine

I feel it all reads well on paper, but I have a favor.

Can we get the old refining skills refunded on the test server please - I feel that this was overlooked.

Respectfully disagree with this. Players didn’t cause the issue that you’re describing, and I don’t know that “mined too much” means here. Mineral prices were not crashing, and even if a glut of minerals was happening, you’ve caused a group of players a very serious nerf causing years of training, ISK and effort to be for naught. A tweak is one thing. This was a nuclear explosion.

Now that i properly understand how waste works, i too am concerned about new players being turned away from fleets.

And both the Mack and the Hulk are losing their +4% per level shield resist bonus but getting more hull and armour HP. That will make them less effective in fleets and the Orca less effective as a support ship. Maybe that makes some sense for the Mack, but really not for the Hulk. Please consider putting a higher shield resist profile back into the Hulk or both of these ships. The two mining ships that needed the tank nerf the most (Proc/Skiff) got a resist buff and barely lost any EHP… :slightly_frowning_face:

I really don’t understand the multitude of ore bays on mining vessels. My Mack holds 100km3 of ore/ice/gas…why? Specialised holds seems like a messy feature as well as a step backwards considering how barges/exhumers were changed back in 2012. I prefer an ‘ore’ hold that can carry all types of ore.

  • Compressed types will now have the same portion size as their uncompressed counterparts. You can calculate the compression ratio by the difference of volume between the two types.
  • Existing compressed types of quantities will be compensated due to this change, such that no loss occurs.

If i’m reading this right, it will mean that it takes 100 compressed units in order to refine and you will be multiplying everyone’s inventory count x100? Will anything be done with existing market orders?

Compression efficiency is an awesome change. Another blow to the big structure owners. :+1:

Are you sure? The module has a charges per use attribute and the Orca has a fuel bay and a per level bonus to fuel consumption.
