Nope. As far as progression goes, I only set my skill queue for one of my secondary chars to use t2 missile launchers. If it wasn’t for skill trading the queue would next to useless for me.
Completely agree. Even if one were to remove the covert option, I think prospect should still be the go too ship for gas huffing in dangerous areas. CCP needs to understand that some people really like frigates as well–even indy ones.
@CCP_Psych @CCP_Rattati
Not sure whose attention was needed for this so I put both of you.
A no salt included message.
I was trying to test the new compression in the Porpoise just before coming here to post this.
It is not working. It will load the ore into the module but will not compress it.
I was thinking this may have been fixed earlier when the SiSi cluster was shut down, but it wasn’t.
I thought it was somehow tied to the new compact industrial core.
So I tried in the Orca, first without the core active, then with the core active.
The Orca also will load the ore but not compress it.
I tried this in Highsec - outside the station and in a belt - with Plag, Scor, and Veld - at a full stop and with a full capacitor - with the compact compress unit A1 and A2 in both ships – please enable the testing of this - everything else seems to be testable so far - did not test in the Rorqual as I do not fly one on the live server.
Also, doesn’t the Industrial Core come with a “built in” cool transformation of the ship ?
The Orca does absolutely nothing with the core activated.
I’m not sure why the ore is loaded into the compress module from the cargo bay only, because the compress module has the options to turn on / off auto reload and auto cycle but the entire cargo bay of the Porpoise doesn’t even fill the compress module ← i may understand this better once I can test this.
Please enable the testing of this module so we may get on with the understanding of how it is to work.
Just heard of this change, I look into the spreadsheet and I have to read:
Venture: “Removed the role bonus for the gas cloud harvesting yield”
What the hell is this? Why do you like punching new players in the face like this?
I read from CCP Psych that after feedback there’s thinking about “Ways to bring back gas harvesting bonuses to frigates”. Well, the way is straightforward: just don’t remove this role bonus, just don’t.
Explanation: the Venture as is is not harmful for any of the game balance. Penalizing it is just masochistic.
You’re in the minority there and you know it
Maybe, maybe not.
This may have been stated already, (and likely considered by the dev’s) But what about a Battleship classed or even a dread classed mining ship that isn’t a support platform? Thinking Big version of the Barges or Exhumers. We have the tech for a mobile boosting and processing facility, (Rorqual) why not a Battleship/Dreadnought with mining bonuses? It would provide a juicy target for war or drops, but give more yield for being said bigger target? Just a thought.
Otherwise, these changes are interesting, and while I feel that the numbers and % could definitely use some tweaking, I’m happy to see the direction overall. I believe that this will create more nomadic mining opportunities, and create juicer targets for hunters of these nomadic miners.
I’m also happy to see based on the posted reply that concerns of the playerbase are being heard by Devs and Community staff. This kind of communication is amazing, and while there are many folks who are only being negative with no constructive edge, I’m hugely grateful to the members of the community who are giving such critically constructive feedback.
And if I’m asking for what I will likely never see introduced, How about a Triglavian mining laser? Spools up for more yield (And potentially more waste?) the longer it’s on an Asteroid… Ahh, a boy can dream.

I mean, cool, but why do I get the feeling that some overworked designer (not even multiple) spent about 2 weeks on those changes not really going through all that they imply? There’s more weird things like this on expedition frigate side where no one really knows what they are for anymore.
I don’t want to bash CCP here and applaud the fact that this is on SiSi for everyone to review but I don’t know if they even have a QA departament in there. I worked in gamedev and I know that QA would catch this stuff 100% and it would only be a matter of managing dev time for implementation. This just looks sloppy whatever angle I view it from.
I just need my HS moons to keep some minerals in them.
With the changes to rorqs not being good mining platforms anymore, the only ship that can field ice excavs can barely do anything with them, even though they cost over 500M isk each.
adapt or die!
@CCP_Dopamine
In the july status update it was mentioned that there would be a “Rework of the industrial index including greater choice over the distribution of resources” - is this still a plan? Is it in the works?
I hadn’t thought of the implications before, but someone pointed out adding waste to industry index could be a very bad thing for sov null squatters inhabiting space they aren’t using in their ability to very quickly and easily raise ADMs without hardly any effort.
And please consider allowing liquid ozone to be used as fuel for the compact cores, we need more uses for liquid ozone
welcome to modern software development where extensive QA is no longer in the budget in markets where cheap consumers don’t want to pay for software that went through the expense of lots of QA. I can also guarantee the game you did dev in was not even remotely as complicated as this one
I would argue the complexity point in private Besides in todays AAA game world all bugs are well known and pointed out ahead of time by QA. It’s just that the dev team is under such pressure that they don’t have time to attend to all of them.
Adapt and die! My alt is in the biomass queue and my main can now plex the sub for several years from the SP the alt had.
No need for a personal attack little one. My message was how the development of the game was heading.
Easy way to adjust “industry”:
Mining Frigates:
- Mining Lasers
- 25 m3 drone bays
- Specialized mining roles for T2 (introduce a 3rd T2 ship) (ore, moon, ice)
- Specialized defense for T2: cov ops cloak, drone damage, increased defense
Barges / Exhumers:
- See above, but with strip miners
Industrial:
- Porpoise Role - Shield boost bonus, enhanced bays for ore types, combat and mining drone bonuses
- Orca Role - 1km Foreman boost bonuses, enhanced tractor beam range, compression, bonus to salvage and combat drones
Capital:
- Rorqual - System Wide Mining Commander Boosts, enhanced cargohold (1/2 of freighters abouts), cyno ability
Skills:
- Consolidate skills to common, uncommon, rare types, 10% increased yield
- Specialization skills for those (requires L4 of previous), 20% less waste generated
- Mining Drones - 10% Increase yeild
- Mining Drone Specialization - 20% less waste generated
High Sec Moons:
- Keep the current minerals.
Even if he were in the minority, so what?
Essential to this game is that anyone can play the way they want.
I play the game my own way, and I don’t care nor wanna know if I am in the minority or majority (probably the former) - who cares?
