From Extraction to Production

'lo Andrew, has been a while.

I have a single Rorq and a few alts who can use barges (I reduced the number of barge flying alts recently). Without being someone who’s massively impacted by this set of changes, I can see clear problems (the unnecessary complexity of doubling ore and then immediately cutting it again with wastage is just ludicrous for instance).

I notice the last few big kills you got were either Rorqs or Orcas. If there’s 40% (I’m making the number up for the sake of argument, maybe it’s 1%, maybe it’s 99%, but it’s certainly going to be somewhere in between) fewer of them in space, what will you hunt instead?

I’m also painfully aware that the shooty ships I prefer to fly are manufactured by industrialists from materials that are harvested by our mining friends. What impacts them impacts us.

My point was more that currently you can compress single blocks of ice. But now you will only be able to compress ice in batches of 100 so that the 79% loss can be enforced.

but then it would make a lot more sense to load up the compressors. (say three of them each with 100 blocks). Then move the ice where you want to refine it, and unload the compressors…)

Compression time and the extra bother of loading ore from the cargo hold to feed the compression module instead of the Ore/ Ice hold kinda makes it more trouble than its worth. Boost is ok

sold my last miner last week, so im down to 1 toon, which runs level 1 missions for the serpentis

All they would need to do, ever, was change cycle times, or harvest amount, or percentages in the first place. This is convoluted nonsense and you know it.

Like the indy changes? Yeah… They’re still bad 7 months later. They’ll be bad till the servers shut off for good. Just like this garbage.

You mean if you fly a 2b isk hulk you can get back to where you are pre patch. I may be exaggerating a bit at this time, but to mine waste free (as it currently is) it will be ridiculously expensive. Easy to gank too. So, to end scarcity they’ve literally force new sp investments, forced omega, effectively left rock sizes the same if you don’t, deep dicked the orca, turbo ■■■■■■ the rorq, made all mining frigs half useless, ballooned the price of faction miners, ruined compression, and destroyed the ships that carried the uncompressed ores. Feel free to correct any of those points.

Don’t piss on my leg and tell me it’s raining dude. This is a garbage “fix” and it isn’t any less garbage because you said so.

Compression has been around since, at least, 2007. That’s the oldest article i could find at this time. It definitely isn’t new, it’s just another line item in the ever growing list of old ■■■■ that has always worked that they decided to bugger up in the last cpl years.

35% minimum waste on non faction miners?? You’re acting like that’s a positive? This was supposed to END scarcity. Exactly how in the ■■■■ does it do that?

Exactly. Fixed without breaking anything.

I can’t even with this. Seriously someone was smoking actual vintage 1980’s Chicago crack rock when they thought this ■■■■ up. It’s ■■■■■■■ mind boggling.

It will likely be next week with little to no announcement prior. If a date has been set and i missed it I appologize. Otherwise i stick by my statement. That’s what they’ve done the last two times they deep dicked something.

A lot of things that are way cheaper can boost. No one is going to use the compression, it’s too tedious and lossy. Soooo… what exactly is the point?

A small dump hold would’ve shut them down too without breaking anything for people actually sitting at the computer.

You are telling me that a spacefaring, ftl ship flying, Sci-Fi, fantasy, race of functionally immortal humans can’t crush rocks without loosing bits? Even at it’s best? I bet with a vice and a jig i could crush rocks, using hand power, without loosing bits. That’s not even considering the tedium of dragging ■■■■ from hold to hold and manually activating LONG ass cycle time modules. nah, that a’int it dude.

DragoFire, looks like @CCP_Rattati got a new forum alt.

thanks, still might reprocess my moon goo tonight incase they do nerf it and everything else tomorrow night. I’m guessing they will launch it tomorrow cause CCP not going to change anything (nothing big anyway)

Rorq got lucky then (never tried it on sisi) Orca got 180% nerf without indy core and 120% nerf with indy core lol

Incorrect. Obviously you arent a good miner if what exists is not sufficent for you to do the job, by your own logic.

Hey CCP, please look into the following to add more quality of life changes :

  1. Allow the Rorqual to store combat ships in the ship maintenance bay like the Orca.
I love bait mining , it’s a shame I can do it in the Orca and have my corp mates swap out from covetors into PvP ships, but not in the Rorqual.

2: Allow Rorquals to jump onto Industrial Cyno’s like the Jump Freighter. It IS an industrial ship after all.

  1. Allow Rorquals to “conduit jump” other industrial ships like the redeemer with blackops into Industrial Cyno’s/Normal Cyno’s.

  2. Give a special effects graphic (like different beam laser or rocks/gas flying from it like mercoxit mining) for miners using TypeC PvP mining ammo so it’s obvious when someone is using it on a mining belt in lowsec/nullsec.

  3. Allow all Ore/Ice/Gas compression to be done from a single module instead of needing 19 different types of modules for specific Ore… it’s just an unnecessary chore having to lug all those modules around when in general, they all do the same thing.

I really hope change No.1 and No.3 makes it through. It allows for more dynamic gameplay for mining, allowing the Rorqual to be a forefront in not just PvE mining support , but also offensive mining in PvP as well, allowing miners to swap into combat ships when the need arises.

Thank you.

Before you go, will you give me all your belongings?

??? idk where you pulled those numbers but it’s incorrect.
on Tranq the Orca industrial command bonus give +10% mining yield per level , which you need rank V to pilot it so that’s 50% , the Role bonus gives a flat 100% mining drone yield = 150%

on Sisi those 2 bonuses to mining drone yield from the Orca are removed. Instead they are moved to the Compact Industrial Core. the Tier 1 gives +100% (nerf of 33%) drone mining yield , while the Tier 2 gives +125% (nerf 17%) drone mining yield. without the compact industrial core active it’s 100% nerf.

The NPC supply is infinite. So, availability is only a matter of time spent by farming LP.

No it was based on progression. Open the ship tree, to learn how to fly a Destroyer you first need to learn how to fly a Frig. That is in and of itself a levelling up experience.

Give it a bit of time to process before replying!!

Those numbers of mine based on Ice mining drones, ore mining drones got roughly 35-40% nerfed, and not to mention the wastage crap also so it even worse.

Progression that goes from one size class to the other

Based on size, not what the ship does, thats what Ive just quoted there.

You two can try and argue the same thing from different angles, but it still stands that killing a Rokh in a Griffin shows more progression in your game skill than killing a Griffin in a Rokh.

The thing is, whether or not I agree with you, two flaws in your argument remain;

1 Orcas and Rorqs are far from useless or deleted.

2 As it stands before the change, where could you progress to after Rorq?

This is the saddest part in my view.

When links were off grid, it wasn’t a problem. Rorquals and Orcas sat inside POS shields and boosted everyone in fleet within the system.

When links were changed to on grid command bursts, one of the aspirations expressed by CCP at the time, was to make the Rorq and Orca ships that main characters would fly. They achieved that, spectacularly.

Now they will be relegated to alts again, if the changes go in as currently planned.

I hope you are right

Lol, sure we are. The real fix is for dev’s to give up their toons so they have no conflict of interest. The update, the dev’s, ccp, PA and the CSM are all a damn joke. I hope the protest at Jita gets worse and never stops. Y’all ruined what was left, will be moving to star citizen as soon as current omega state expires.
