Not understanding this logic. Give up a mid-slot to fit this item, have a 150% signature radius bonus, and hope it is not within the 3 minute reactivation delay when it is immediately required. Is the PVE player really doing something wrong by attempting to enjoy PVE mission content in high-sec? Or are the Catalyst pilots exploiting a game mechanic?
Nobody told players to optimize for PvE while ignoring PvP.
Optimization could also take a chance of PvP into account and fit slightly different for an increased chance of PvP survival even if it means less PvE speed.
Just because you can unlock battleships fast doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to fly battleships fast.
You need far more than the skills to sit in onr to fly it well, while smaller ships are both faster to train and cheaper to buy.
There is no such thing as a ‘PvE player’ or a ‘PvP player’.
Most players do both, and even a player who only focuses on PvE content in EVE will have to participate in PvP from time to time if only to pay attention to other players to actively avoid PvP.
More accurate would be to talk of a ‘player flying a PvE fit ship’, but that is no guarantee you won’t see PvP.
So be wary, pay attention and be ready to fight or flee if PvP is about to happen.
Not in my experience, whenever I fit my Ishtars I can fit for pure ISK, fit for pure bait or any hybrid setup where I increase my survival chance if PvP happens while reducing my PvE efficiency.
It’s more of a sliding scale than a binary either-or, but many players who do PvE won’t consider PvP at all and just die and complain, which makes it a binary thing.
Even if I go for pure PvE efficiency I know I’ve made that choice but could have made another one with for example just a little more agility to warp out in time.
Choices, you make more of them while fitting than you may think.
Depends on the area and type of specific activity - but I get your point, yes. I mean, L4 missioning in high-sec is generally PvE/buffer fit for anti-ganking. Ratting in null-sec is probably different.
Why did you leave Exordium? That is the space exactly for you! If you leave it you are subject to non consensual pvp. You should go back to safe space. CCP added it just for players like you.
Looks like those ships are already fit with PvP in mind then!
It’s not that I’m saying they’re fit to win a PvP engagement, but that people can decide to fit their ship in a way that maximizes survival chance.
And flying buffer fit ships in HS is one of those strategies. A biffer fit battleship in HS is fit with PvP in mind.
You could also give up some dps to get even more buffer from a damage control, or miss some tracking to fit a MJD to get away. Or fit more damage and tracking to increase income to fund the next ship once you lose one in PvP. All valid choices.
There’s fits to kill other players in PvP, but if you’re just doing PvE your ‘PvP modules’ don’t necessarily need tackle mods. If you can sutvive and fight them off you’re also winning.
Extra buffer versus PvP even if you don’t need it for the PvE also can be a valuable addition to the ship.
PvP is player vs. player. Playing (as an example) World of Tanks, it’s 16:16. So a lot of 1:1, 2:1 (etc.) individual engagements will ensue. But never 16:1 at the outset.
When you’re missioning, it’s you… and then maybe a flashy suspect. Then a half dozen or more gankers… That’s gang/mob mentality.
Very. You are posting on a 40 days character with zero kill history.
You claim to be new player.
You claim to have been ganked.
But you show us no proof of that actually happened.
So you are most likely another AG troll who is making a daily thread against ganking.
The only alternative is that you are posting on an alt. If so why?
Gankers do not target new players. They especially not gank a t1 battleship fitted with t1 modules in safespot doing a security mission. And if they would, they would post the kill. But there is no kill on zkillboard to be seen.
So we have good reason to think that this whole thread is a made up and you are telling lies.
Even if I go for pure PvE efficiency I know I’ve made that choice but could have made another one with for example just a little more agility to warp out in time.
This topic is specifically regarding PVE missions in high-security space. Battleships are the hull type mentioned for running said missions. So, lets discuss level 4 security missions. How much of a sliding scale may the mission runner choose? In my experience, the ship fit must be optimized to survive the mission. Asking them to adjust their fit in order to avoid death by player Catalysts seems wrong.
The Suicide Ganking fleets have optimized their tactics to warp a fleet into system and into the mission dead space pocket with minimal warning to their target. They must also prevent the target from warping out to safety immediately upon entering the space.
You are asking the PVE player in high-security space to have faster reactions than the ganking fleet. Said PVE player running level 4 security missions already has a fleet of NPC hostiles on them. Often, those NPC ships include warp and web frigates mixed with battleships. Why do you expect players to accept this gameplay?
In exchange for the ship (200M - 1.5B) and fit (200M - 1B+) suitable for level 4 security missions, the player receives kill-rights to a host of gankers. They may destroy a ship flown by ganking pilots, so a 1.4M Catalyst likely to be a Concord target anyway. So, how exactly does a player fit a ship to retaliate against such a player corporation or alliance?
Non-ganking corporations have high turnover rates. The pattern is so predictable. They get a taste of content they enjoy, they skill into that content, and they invest into the ships suitable for that content. Somewhere along the line, that player goes from rather active to completely inactive. Rage-quiting seems like the only explanation for this behavior. For a game so dependent on player activity, why continue this pattern?
Wrong. I am not claiming to be a beginner player. As for proof of this happening, I shared a link to kills in the Lanngisi system where many pilots lost T2 battleships to Catalyst fleets. Yes, this pilot has 40 character days with zero PVP experience. Why? Because players like you want to know exactly which pilots complain about ganking fleets here. Want to share how you will use this information?
Is lively discussion of a specific game mechanic detrimental to player game enjoyment really trolling? Or are those real players enjoying most of this game, but rather frustrated at the PVP implementation? How many times have you read something like this on the forum?
As a player currently focused on high-security system content, I am only familiar with the ganking squads, but the other two are basically the same principle. Mob an isolated individual player while minimizing risk to the mob. Encouraging players to tolerate something so broken and shouting down their concerns helps no one. Targeted players somehow move elsewhere; either to player-controlled space or to some other game. Catalyst mob players loose potential PvP oponents. Recently, Fenris put significant effort into attracting and retaining new players. Why? Because this game depends on player interations. Mobs versus individual players keep killing this game’s player base.
