The guy that suggested using painters @z0rberg is a ganker himself. @Australian_Excellence has explicitly said he used to use them to kill DSTs in the post right above yours as well. Precisely to solve that problem is why you may want a painter instead of a tracking computer… Every improvement a tracking computer may provide there, a painter would do better IF the target is within the painter’s optimal AND you apply the painter before shooting…

Both turret tracking and target signature appear together in a product in the chance to hit formula. Increasing ANY of them by any percentage has EXACTLY the same effect as increasing the other by the same percentage. Whichever can be increased by a greater percentage will have a greater improvement in the chance to hit…

No, I’ve said from the very beginning that you may still want to fit TC instead of TP for other reasons, e.g. they are more convenient to use, but NOT for purely tracking reasons. If you fit TCs instead of TPs solely because you think they provide a better chance to hit, then yes, you’re doing it wrong, not by much, but wrong nonetheless.

And Dom is actually much better than that jerk. I personally have no reason to ignore him. Dom is wrong, but I believe he’s honest enough that he will acknowledge it when he realises his mistake. He just has a hard time understanding why would most Tornado gankers use tracking computers if target painters are really better for tracking.
