I admit, I did simplify my calculation a bit, but due to how warp acceleration and deceleration works, the bookmarks aren’t spread linearly and every warp from one point A to another point B produces new possible bookmark spots unique to that warp trajectory between A and B. And warping from B to A produces a different set, while warping fom the second bookmark in set A-B to bookmark three from B-A again produces a set of possible bookmarks unique to the warp of A-B2 to B-A3.
As such, the order of the warps matters too, which I think is not the case for your example (although I could be wrong).
With the simplification that each warp takes 10 ticks and therefore produces 10 possible bookmark spots, this results in 1000 options if you know bookmark 1 is made from Celestial A->B, bookmark 2 from Celestial C-> bookmark 1 and the final safe from bookmark 2->bookmark 1.
(And for example if it is unknown whether the final safe is made from bookmark 1-> 2 or in warp from 2->1, then our possible amount of locations doubles to 2000.)
While your equilateral triangle correctly says that with sides taking 10 ticks a middle path takes less time (8.66 rounded to 9 in EVE’s tick system), this variation isn’t really significant as I already made the rather impactful simplification of assuming all warps take 10 ticks.
As warps can take much more or much fewer ticks than that based on distances and warp speeds, I wanted to avoid that to keep the example simple.
Oh, but the trig accounts for that. You’re always beginning with 30 possibilities, then multiplying by (10 * 1) for the first level, another (10 * 2) for the second level, another (10 * 3) for the third level, etc. The forums keep formatting the numbers all weird.
The point here is that if the safe spot is just 2 bookmarks deep, Vlad would only need to make up to about 300 warps, and not a whopping 1,000.
