It’s insult as soon as the goal is to hurt the person, instead of to make a point.
Just because it’s irrelevant, useless, does not make it less of an insult. If he was talking with friends, then that would be self derision - but he is not, therefore only insults remain.
There’s nowt wrong with enjoying PvE over PvP, both are intrinsically linked due to the nature of the game.
What people forget is that most of the rewards for PvE eventually end up on the market, which is a PvP environment.
I’m very much a PvE player in that I primarily consume the content provided by CCP, but in some ways I’m also a PvP player because I’m constantly competing with others via industry and trading.
I’d enjoy the game better without Zkillboard or isk. Technically, I’m afraid of losing every ship on any circumstances and is not for being afraid of pvp, is because the hard work of getting it.
The various snarly reactions to that immature response by @Merin_Ryskin are appreciated <3 Truthfully, it made me chuckle. Most pre-teen-type comments like it make me chuckle because they’re so damned stupid. Forums, oy.
Sorry, but that article is nonsense. EVE is a PvP game because PvE is a means to an end, not the end goal. If you take away the PvP then you’re left with an inane farming game where all you do is endlessly repeat the same menial task until you get bored of it and quit. The parts of the game where you succeed or fail, where all of your meaningful achievements happen, are 100% PvP. Trying to argue that EVE is a PvE game because the resource exploitation aspect involves PvE is like trying to argue that it is a “player vs. login screen” game because every player has to log in before they can play.
The only flaw in your approach is the fact that people who spread the “not a pvp game” nonsense are not actually thinking, or caring about what’s true or not. They only care about being right and talking endlessly about how everyone else is wrong and a bad person!
Too bad that the “EVE’s a pvp game” crowd is just equally braindead, evidenced by them constantly enabling those who have literally nothing but those who keep enabling them. Literally. There’s two stupid crowds from the opposite ends of a spectrum and they both exist solely because the other stupid side exists.
And yet how many people do you think would still play EVE if the PvP was removed and everyone in nullsec got as much zero-risk farming as they wanted? I’m pretty sure the answer is approximately zero.
