GPU Driven Pipeline/Carbon Update - Known Issues

They’ll know what parts of the code are gnarly and they’ll have plans to sort it, but execution is quite possible scheduled for at some point down the line when they’ve got more capacity which is a worrying prospect :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m actually starting to worry I’ll get purged from my null corp for inactivity. Have not been able to go on fleet since the update.

There is no common denominator. People with AMD and Nvidia cards have it, with DX11 and DX12 have it. An entire Tengu fleet of over a 100 Tengus had it the other week. This is not a player issue. This is firmly a CCP issue.

That’s an odd issue, that a class of ships triggers a game freeze.

I checked it out on my Legions and I don’t have a problem using them. I can check the fitting, zoom in and out, and move around, orbit, target, etc in my T3 just fine. There was a stutter for a few milliseconds when I was using the ships a couple of times, but it was definitely no game-freeze and nothing I would complain about. Literally lasted a few milliseconds. Barely detectable, and easily missed. The game sometimes does such stutters for other things as well.

Could it not be the fact that this issue is intensified in high-complexity circumstances like fleet fights or being docked at a player structure?

I’m using a 2017 Macbook Pro.
2.8 GHz quad-core i7.
OS X 13.7.5.
Radeon 555 Pro 2 GB.

DirectX 12.

Tried it on EVE medium and low graphics, and had no issues.

why?

Now try loki.
Not all T3Cs are as bad.
Loki is by far worse, Tengu is managable, there is stutters on jumps or zoom in, but not too bad.
But Lokis are unflyable in a group.
And just to confirm everyone in our group has this issue, people with AMD and with Nvidia cards.
We all have different hardware, but issues with T3Cs affect everyone in our group.

No change. Same as with Legion, no significant problems flying it. I do see those minor stutters, mainly right after session changes, but again, they only last a few milliseconds it seems.

Maybe it’s something that gets amplified in a fleet of multiple ships then. Anyway, I hope it gets resolved. Most everything else has been resolved from this patch, I think.

For the sake of it, I deleted cache files, to see if this helps. It did not.

I also updated my graphics card drivers of my RX6800 from a Nov24 version to the April25 version. It did not help either.

This firmly remains a CCP issue.

Which issue(s) are still plaguing you? Overall performance or the T3C memory leak/crashing?

Are there any other issues discussed at the moment other than the T3C client freezing complaints? Wasn’t aware of that. In that case: T3C usage freezing and near-crashing or actually crashing my clients after every gate jump, when I open and use the system map, when I open and use the Fitting Window, when I zoom while in or near a T3C in any ship.

There are some Mac-specific graphical anomalies and general PC performance issues - beyond the T3C/memory leaks.

And I’m quite sure there is some percentage of users who don’t even complain here. I guess some small percentage of player loss due to some unnecessary GPU update, with the now non existent public test server to test these things, is somehow acceptable.

i experience hanging issues constantly now, i cant use more than one account without it happening constantly, CCP doesn’t care i brought it up with regards to 2 lost asteros and all they did was give me one ship back and close the help request without even addressing what caused the hanging(lag spike)
all i do now is log in do my dailies, log out my four Omega accounts will expire in august, which by then i will not care

I have a very odd issue to mainly discussed freezes with T3C (freezes for 15-30 sec in space + 5 sec freezes while fitting T3C, mainly loki).

For some reason the 3rd launched account in sequence (playing with 3 accounts most of a time) after a while starting to experience constant, unbearable stutters like every 2-3 sec. The solution I found is to disable ingame sounds completely on all lauched clients.

Just nuts, as for myself I’m starting to consider not to continue subscription after it runs out in August. Good job devs, good job

They want to shut the game down and move on but they know if they do the players will be pissed and demand refunds for Omega stretching waaaay into the future so instead they engineer these little annoyances to make us all leave in dribs and drabs and eventually they’ll have no players and, more importantly, no large group of refund requesters taking to social media to heap the pressure on, and will be free to just flip the switch and say goodnight.

Probably.

Your tinfoil hat may be on just right… it’s certainly an easy way to force players with older hardware to quit without having to refund them…

I’m still not seeing any performance improvements with “EVE Evolved” - anyone else?
