Gun salute

If it’s done for ceremonial reasons I don’t see why not.

And if you fire short range ammo at a ship in the distance you might as well be firing blanks.

“GuYS TiMe FoR A GuN SalUTe, TaRget Dennis And SwiTch To ShorA Range AdN Fire On My Cammand”

Or anchor a ‘ceremonial gun salvo target’ in the form of an invulnerable mobile depot. Be creative.

Sounds like good fun and a nice story for later to me!

“Why did you get one-shot by your own corp?”
“We celebrated anchoring a Fortizar”

Have a little fun!

Your ideas are terrible but thanks

Knowing what you consider to be ‘good’ ideas I will take that as a compliment.

Then if CCP added ‘blanks’ ammo for guns that allows firing without having a target locked (which are used for salutes), you would have forgotten these instead… what would have been the difference in your initial scenario?

Who says we forgot the fireworks?

You said yourself you didn’t have them? I just quoted what you said.

There could be other reasons we didnt bring fireworks. For example its lame?

Same can be said for ‘blanks’ ammo for guns to shoot salutes (that wouldn’t even be as visible as fireworks are).

Blanks do not seem ideal. Best thing would be able to fire weapons without a target. For example G+F1

But then you would use ‘live’ ammo… for salutes.

Which you already can use, just fire on something that won’t die? The Laser-Disco Abaddon that fired different colored laserbeams on an own set of light drones was pretty common in my early days.

Please see the bingo card

Please use arguments in discussions. What you want can already be done easily. If you fire into free space the effect won’t even be visible that much, because a large part of the visible effect happens on impact on the ‘target’.

Are you talking about this?

Looks like an Atari game what you are playing, but thats probably the thing I am talking about.

A better suggestion than a ‘gun salute’ would probably to remove the ‘Festival Launcher’ as requirement for firing fireworks and instead allow fireworks charges to be fired by any gun or launcher in the game. Then you can select an effect you like the most and just fire at will, with a huge factor of visibility.

For some reason this 22 year old game runs like crap on a 2 year old laptop but thats besides the point. Even on low settings there is a clear visual effect when firing your guns and lasers  Have anyone ever called you a cynic by the way?

It’s almost as if the graphics and requirements aren’t 22 years old.

But yes, there’s a tiny effect when guns fire, just barely enough to visually notice incoming fire in combat, yet insignificant to the impressive impact visuals.

If you want a gun salute in EVE it would not only look much better using existing ammo against a target, it would also require no changes to the game!

Or just use fireworks.
