True that. The point is that your suggestion isnât really improving the game because what you want can already be done, pretty easily. So any more dev-time put into it would be a waste of resources. The second point is that you, because you are new and unexperienced, cannot see the abuse potential. Blank shots can and will be used to trick scouts and hostiles to believe the ship/fleet is engaged in combat while they are not (having no timers). So you would have to add a clearly visible indicator that tells others if âsalute shotsâ are used or âlive ammoâ. Again additional dev time to code the effects. For no real benefit.
The suggestion simply isnât good, because it eats dev time, doesnât add a clear benefit and adds potential problems to the game which then would require time and resources again to fix them.

Could a fleet potentially kill any ship at any range with blanks if enough ships fire blank gun salvos with that 10% hit chance?

Empire space is high and low sec, the reason its not allowed is the same reason you cannot do gun salutes IRL in most places.

I think most people would love gun salutes and they would love CCP for putting it in. CCP would actually get some love.
I think âmost peopleâ do not care and already know to use fireworks if you want to celebrate.
