Hard Miners life

Good day.
I want to write about what hurt.
I’m a miner, but I can’t fully realize my potential, because of the changes and policies that you’ve been running in the game for quite a long time.

So. It has been my dream for over 5 years to learn, buy or build and use the largest mining ship in the game - the Rorqual.
I’m a miner and basically my gameplay is finding ore, mining it and selling it. To begin with, all ore mining ships are only available to omega clones. There are dozens and even more ships for pirates, fighters and explorers that are available to alpha clones. And only one, the worst, which is available to miners - Ventura.
All other ships require an omega subscription and specific skills.
Miner ships are more difficult to train. Ore in high defense systems is very cheap and it takes 5-8 hours of digging to mine 100 million.
So let’s compare the nice cruiser Drake and the drilling barge Procurer (Skills you need to know to control the ship. Not counting the skills you need to have to use the equipment):

  1. Drake - Four Tier 3 skills, one Tier 2 skill, and one Tier 1 skill.
  2. Prorurer - One fifth-level skill, four fourth-level skills, three second-level skills, and two first-level skills.

Drake: So all alpha pilots can fly on Drake in a week, maximum two. All beginners can learn.
Procurer: Only omega pilots are on the barge, in addition, some skills can be taught only with an omega subscription, the training time is 2 months.

For second-tier drillships, the gap is even greater.
All drilling equipment is ineffective without buffs. They can be provided by an Orca or a Porpoise. Both ships are once again for omega pilots.
To learn an Orca ship you need 4-5 months to learn skills, three billion isk to buy a ship and learn basic skills.
To raise the buffs to a good level, another two billion claims and 3-4 months of training.
Before, the ship was good, but you cut down the mining drones and now the Orca with the drones can’t mine ore at all.
So, it takes 2-3 years to earn money for an Orca ship for buffs and another one that will mine ore. Because mining ore without these ships is very difficult and long, and if you collect it, you need two omegas to continue being a miner.
An Orca ship that will cost miners 3-5 billion and half a year of training is not self-sufficient at all. He can’t even defend himself against 12-16 pirates on a Thrasher ship, which can be learned in 2-4 days. And the Orca will be destroyed in high defense systems. Players who do that not needed to study for more than half a year or have 5-6 billion for a ship.

Now we come to the Rorqual ship.
You will need a year of training to start using it.
It costs about 5-6 billion and about 2 billion modules for it.
Drones will cost you one and a half billion. It is only for Omega pilots. If you have the patience to spend a year collecting money for it by digging ore, learning skills, collecting drones, then you still won’t be able to fly it…
Because it only flies in systems 0.4 and below.
He’s very slow, he can’t defend himself, his mining drones are also slashed and mining less ore than before. It has no drilling lasers.
And if you somehow passed all the stages, built a ship, learned all the skills, found modules and went to dig for ore, you will die in 2-3 hours. Maximum for the next day. it’s 100%

There are very few mining ships themselves
Three ships of the first level, three of the second.
Two ships with buffs and compression and a rorqual.
Triglav still has no mining ships. I asked if there were any plans at all more than two years ago, I was told that it is not my business and I cannot talk about such things. So I don’t know if they will or not.
But!!! The game increasingly descends into a banal shooting game.
There will be no space exploration, no miners, soon it will just be a pvp game and that’s it. Understand this problem and start dealing with miners, their ships. Help me and I will help you. It is not possible to play like this. I can’t fly on the ship I saved up for and dreamed about.

The new event that is going on now gives the possibility of a drop at the level of 90%.
No one will be happy to drop from a cheap ship. But everyone will kill miners because they have expensive ships. You made an unbalanced event that encourages you to kill miners.

I am waiting for your (CPP) adequate and meaningful answer. I took my time and wrote you a lot of information, don’t be lazy and give me more than 3 sentences.

Groups that specialize in those ganks should be permadecced like the old days. You should be free to choose your path, but if you make your living on hostile actions, besides reaping the rewards you should be free to deal with consequences, not coddled and protected. That’s not a good look for a pirate, am I right?

Basically we can mine in any alpha ship and that will make a miner feel better than just sticking to a venture while on alpha.

It’s not about the amount of ore to a true miner. Like a true ganker doesnt care for the cost of the mining ship they shoot.

This is a good idea.

It isn’t “Ventura”, it’s the Venture and it’s a great ship, probably the best ship in the whole game.

The fact is that the number of ships is limited for miners. I mean mining ships in particular. and 95% of them are only for omega pilots. And there are no more than 10 ships
Pirates can fly on an Orca and try to kill someone. I would like to see it

I’m glad you like him. Can you describe what is best about it? why is he the best in the world?
Thank you

Ace Ventura Ore Detective aka the Frostpacker.

Miner haters and trolls have no business in this discussion

What’s best about the Venture is its capacity to align fast and so get into warp fast.
Its 50Km3 ore hold makes it ideal for prospecting and oportunistic mining.
It is agile, more so than the other, bigger mining ships, and costs much less than any other ones.
The Venture is perfect for mining and is all that’s really needed.

Also has built-in warp core strength.

We have the best possible solution to try omega and we even have the mining barge operations expert system costing just 15 plex which can come out of a weekend omega access for just 3.75.

Really that would give everyone enough mining frills for at least a month if they mined non stop for those three days.

But then they could also just stop being cheap and spend money on their hobby which is Eve Online

do you read the topic? You can make all ships only for omega and leave one alpha. And buy the opportunity to fly on it for plexes.
And in order to master the Catalyst, you will need to learn the skills for half a year.
Read the topic carefully. It’s about the imbalance in the game, not about buying everything for plex and being silent.

Wait… an Orca gets ganked by 12 Thrashers? Any Orca pilot who gets ganked by 12 Thrashers should not be flying an Orca. It should take 30 or more to take down one of those ships. I’ve seen them get 300,000 EHP. They’re pretty beefy! And the buffs they give are way worth the price tag! You’re an Alpha player which means that you’re missing out on so much in this game.

The best mining ship in the game is the Hulk, as long as you have support ships to let you deal with the small ore hold.

The Rorqual is a fantastic ship for many reasons, I have one. But to be honest I never mine in it.

It’s a support ship to help other miners. You can easily transport mining ships and ore. You can bridge mining ships to other systems. You can provide mining boosts to let miners mine faster and hold or compress their ore. You can make your entire mining fleet invulnerable to attacks for a few minutes.

You’re right that the Rorqual is easily killed. The trick in using them is to be part of a group that can defend your Rorqual against such attacks.

Personally I don’t even risk it, my group often isn’t strong enough to defend the ship against threats we face, so I just use my Rorqual as a big suitcase to carry ships, ore and other stuff around and provide bridges when needed.

And when I want to buff mining ships I use a cheap Porpoise, which nicely fits in the Rorqual.

If you want to use a Rorqual and live, try joining one of the biggest blocs!

For an activity as narrow as ‘shoot rock with laser’ I think there are many options!

You have three agile frigates with various advantages.

You have three barges each with their unique strengths and weaknesses.

Three exhumers that do the same thing but bettee at a much higher cost.

And three support ships at various tiers of utility and price.

That’s a lot of choice, in my opinion.

This isn’t a ‘discussion’ if opposing opinions are excluded. Not that you could stop anyone from posting them.

Mining ships are limited because the activty isn’t complex or demanding. You simply don’t need many variances in tank, speed, maneuverability and whatnot. It’s just locking a rock, activating the lasers and alt-tab out of the game to watch youtube until the cargo is full. The existing range of mining ships are more than sufficient for that.

And when it comes to omega requirements, they are completely logical because of the above: No one should be able to harvest lots of resources without a sub because that would hurt the market economy. People would just create free Icemining Alts in every system that has an Icebelt and let them mine literally 24/7, and everytime the belt is gone, they log in one of the other alphas in another system where still is one.

Up to 10 mining ships.
All but ventura for omega players.
Half of the ships do not have the T2 version.
Triglav does not have its own mining ship.
To fly an ehrumer, you need to learn the skills for half a year.
Has no alpha ships. For PVP, there are more than a hundred alpha ships on which you can fly in two months at most

What are the ads in the game? You can be a fighter, a miner, an industrialist.
By the way, about the miner, we will give you only 10 ships. You don’t need it anymore and we will cut the mining with drones, you don’t need it either.
But you can choose the path of the miner, which we will not develop, which will be exclusively paid.
What is this way? This is a blind spot

Mining is just the first step, you don’t stop there. From Mining in a rock-slurping barge or exhumer you go to be a Mining Director, offering Boost and Compression to a whole fleet. Organizing Mining Operations for others, managing buyback programs for your corporations. Making sure these resources are refined with maxium yield and transported to where they are needed to make products out of them.
When even this is not enough, you begin to develop industrial programs about how to efficiently use these resources and basically become an corporation/alliance industrialist.

What kind of “mining ships” do you miss? You have specialized ships for everything already: Ice, Ore, Gas. Then a variety of Tank, Mobility, Yield or Cargo choices. You have Covert-mining ships, you have Subcapital- and Capital-Mining Commandships. And mining already pays exceptionally well for the pretty low skill you need for this activity. What do you need more?
