Hello ladies and gentlemen, hearthstone was everywhere many years ago. It was easy to learn and difficult to master and the only way to get cards was to purchase them from blizzard. They had a walled garden and it looked very promising.
But Blizzard thought they had to keep making new cards to keep revenues steady but this devalued collecting cards in the first place and as fast as hearthstone spread it died down again. This is where the misinterpretations comes in. Video game companies seem to think a game is successful because its new and therefore it is natural for a game to die over time. But this is trap. For example if you think the game is going to die no matter what then you are not going to try as hard maintaining it and the premature demise becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
There are million dollar franchises that go out of business because they never figured out the business model. But its pretty simple. Provide value and you will remain succesful. And just adding something new for the sake of adding something new is not how you provide value. Thats all. Have a nice day.
