Staying neutral is never a real option. You are can only remain neutral if you are strong enough, or unappealing enough, to not make yourself a target. Even in real life. No one likes a fence-sitter, especially one trying to profiteer off conflict. If you really want to be neutral, get yourself out of Empire space completely.
At the very least, the best rewards should come with picking a side. If you donāt want to, well CCP kinda finally made you this time. By default the invaders want to kill you and the defenders of the Empires wonāt. Just avoid the invasion systems and you are fine. Or opt to join the other side and the Trigs will leave you along and EDENCOM will be your enemy. I know many of you donāt want to, but you really have to choose now.
This isnāt a bad thing. Pick your side and fight for it. Or pick your side and not, but letās not complain that you have to choose now. Adversity breeds opportunity, and honestly New Eden needs a little of both right now.
As far as I know, this was always the case, Iām not aware of any reward given to the people playing the neutral game, except not being shot at by the NPC. Not like anybody had any loots or ISK for that.
Thatās what will happen for me yes, invaded systems go instantly in avoid list.
Well, you are asking to people who just now have been announced that they will suffer negatives effects with no positives effects as a trade-off to not complain. You have every right to consider this change fair and good, but at least letās not be surprised if people suffering negatives effects complain about themā¦
With one of the biggest player made war currently happening in Null, and the constant skirmishes of Low-sec, no I honnestly donāt think this event is ever gonna bring an opportunity that I will care about. But for this part, thatās just me, I can see why others might feel interested.
However Iām afraid every player that would be interested was already invested in the event anyway. Most others are probably like me, only annoyed by it without having any intention of picking up those āopportunitiesā.
CCP should offer the same option they offer to those who are needing to raise their sec standings: purchase it.
The raising of oneās standing thru the purchase of clone tags off the market instead of thru combat is firmly accepted method. Pilots should be able to either purchase Trig loot off the market to turn in for standing increase with EDENCOM or be able to turn in a set amount of their own ISK valued Trig loot instead. This would merely followed the same rules for correcting defying CONCORD.
ā¦or just a one time zeroing of negative standing for pilots at <.02.
Why has CCP gone completely catatonic in regards to responding to this issue, even after 2 months of questions for clarification? Sure, they are on the notorious Icelandic summer walkabout, but zero devs and zero EVE community relations team postings at all for one of the most promoted events currently going on in EVE. Surely there is at least one person high enough in the CCP hierarchy to post something to clear up the mess PRIOR to changing the existing rules only after multiple weeks have gone by. Iām beginning to think that CCPās new building may get boarded up for being abandoned.
But you have multitude of options. Can even leave the high sec behind and join one of low sec pirate groups or null sec alliances. Or live in wormholes. So many options!
A sandbox letās players use established in-game tools / game mechanics however they want to. A theme park pushes players in a specific direction dictated by the Developers.
The fact that CCP bypassed the Social skills when they implemented this new Triglavian and EDENCOM NPC standing mechanics shows this game is no longer a sandbox.
Whilst true in the broadest sense, that deflects from the issueā¦ allow skills to affect standings as they do for all other npcs, and iād personally have no issue with itā¦
There are choices here. The only thing maybe even slightly different, is in this conflict, you have to choose a side.
What is wrong with a mechanic being different than some others?
Real war has finally come to Empire space and you have to choose a side. That isnāt a theme-park. That isnāt even especially different than in the past. Maybe in the past you could cheese the system and despite all logic, be beloved and trusted by all sides despite them hating each other (how does that even make sense?) if you gamed the mechanics sufficiently. But not now.
You donāt have to like being forced to choose, but that doesnāt make this a ātheme-parkā. The are plenty of choices and option available to everyone, aside from perhaps now playing both sides and not making picking a side and making a trade-off.
You canāt have it all, as it should be in a sandbox game like Eve. Make a choice.
We have no backstory on this conflict. No lore. How would I decide which side is better? It is just some unintelligible group of NPCs that is causing a bit of trouble in a few systems. There is probably more lore associated with Interbus than with the Trigalvians. We cannot even choose a side based on the end result because CCP doesnāt want us to know what the goal/finale of the invasions even is - plus CCP keeps changing the rules.
āWarā is about as applicable here as it is in nullsec. It is just some combat lulz. Easily avoided and gimmicky.
