Ah, I can already see the Cynos popping up all over the galaxy, if Ventures can go wherever they want unhindered.
Player count will be higher, I bet, cause everybody has to stay on their toes.
That will be a time of straight up war.
Dsiableing warp scrambling is meaningless when your ganking something that takes laonger to warp, then it takes to kill it.
How about we disable “Criminal Non-Wardec, weapons Fire in .5 and higher (Highsec)” for a month instead? I bet you the population explodes.
Not exciting enough imo.
True.
However the idea is to get more players in EVE. And I am sure it would be fun for quite a lot of carebears and PVE’ers.
Which I might add far outnumber the Other types of players. (In playstyle preference) the vast majority of players in general pvp because they “have to” not because they “want to”. 60-70% of the population would be ecstatic if you were to stop criminals from fireing on ships in highsec.
The tears are delicious and can i have your stuff crowd and ganking is good content dominate all discussion and public opinion it seems.
But the powers that be should have a greater understanding of why people actually play the game.
Someone else put it eloquently. People come to EVE online to sunbathe. That made a lot of sense to me at least
The fun part is that none of these proposals would have helped OP, who got blapped in NullSec, because that is what happens in NullSec.
But he chose to complain about it rather impolitely (and for no good reason, I might add).
NullSec is not called Null Security for shits and giggles.
My point about the toxcicity shown to new players… might. But your right it is nullsec. You go to nullsec, you get what you get.
It’s why my main arguments and debates generally center around highsec griefing etc. Because there is actually a foundational issue there.
There is a risk of completely disabling criminal activity toward other players in high sec taking so much edge of the game that even carebears lose interest.
So recognizing there is an issue is one thing but is there actually something that can be done to make it better without unintended side effects?
The more i think about it the more i lean toward making Warp Scramblers contraband in high sec. This is easier said than done tho. Because people should be able to have them fitted but in an offline state. But much more need to be considered. For example when will the game check the players fitting. And it raises so many questions. But it could be the middle ground and optimal solution in the end between the ganking is good and ganking is bad crowd. But who knows.
tl;dr By taking warp disruption between players out of the equation in high sec players get a new avenue to survive ganks but will also impact high sec warfare.
Carebear intrudes into space owned by an organized group with the intention of stealing what is theirs and has a meltdown because they dare defend their own space. I don’t see the psychopathic element.
Poor sad newbro freighters.
I believe you’re right about Null, it is off-limits to non-nullseccers as you say, but I don’t agree about Hisec, it’s not “spacebums”, more like spacejunk.

Shouldn’t have answered you since you also think I’m a alt
I don’t just say it.
Go to Nullsec and check for yourself. I will reimburse your ship up to a Cruiser. Go there and post what happens to you in this thread. If you even make it there and don’t get yourself blown up in Lowsec before you ever get there.
The point is they make Hisec so boringly BS because they make no money from Alpha clones in Hisec, ie: “freeloaders”.
Nullsec is not off-limits to anyone. But lack of knowledge will get punished anywhere in New Eden.
However…
Nullsec is territorial ! You belong to the group that holds the sovereignty or you do not. Wanna come and try to steal their stuff ? That’s on the thief, and I’m sure anyone is welcome to try and roll the dice. That is not a hard concept to understand but apparently is harder to stomach for some forum visitors.
Do you honestly believe that Nullsec PvE is any less boring when done in the same way as hisec’ers do it ? PvE is an income source, an ISK faucet. It’s not meant nor designed to be perpetual fun. And of course it’s a grind - how could it not be. The real excitement in a pvp game is … pvp. So there’s very little room for the kid picking wild flowers and feeling happy and satisfied.
That players fall short of the mark of “adjust and adapt” and leave in frustration is perhaps the main reason for calling EvE a harsh game. And that has been true since 2003.
One can want to fly that big, shiny ship and haul significant value around, and wish there would be no ganking. Then reality hits in the form of a well executed attack … And that’s on the wishful thinker, not on the game, not on the devs, and certainly not on the players who do know the rules. Don’t accept the rules, don’t play.
Ganking anything in hisec is not “toxic behavior”, it’s playing the game as intended. And who says the consequences of a gank should be balanced ? You haul value, others want that value you’re carrying as per the rules of the game. That is completely in line with the whole idea of EvE. How you prepare for that setting is 100% on you, not on anyone else.
Have data on “the flow of leaving players” that show us that the current increase in PCU is a hoax ? Surprisingly, that PCU increase is often linked to the changes in FW, which is … PvP !
Ganking is allowed in all systems but those listed on ccp’s support website i.e., starter systems, and those associated with the SoE arc. Again, protecting yourself against ganks is a basic requirement. Talking with other players is the fastest way of knowing how to do that.
You’re very close to equating ganking with griefing (which does have significant consequences). Griefing requires proof, and has to be sent in for review.
Nope. It’s not.
Slipping in with Filaments and WH’s prove that wrong.
It’s only off limits if you get caught.
OR run an off (maybe even crap) fit. Or pod/shuttle lol. A few battleships, a few smartbombs…boom!
I know in my first angel enlistment run I was genuinely curious as to what a mach I met had. I had a nice as possible buffer fit on stilletto. Passive resists. Still got a nice blast that ripped me for a bit over 50% shields. I cleared it but old boy did have a nice try at it. Not bad work for a solo smarty I’d have to say.
EDIT
Shouldn’t have answered you as you also think I’m an alt.
So which one is it?
Will you reimburse my ship if I explode in Losec while trying to get to Null?
I think blowing up in Lowsec while trying to go to Null would reinforce your point, as “Null is so off-limits that you can’t even get there”,
I will go to Null ( or try to ) within the day ( it’s 02:30 now) but I can’t pilot a destroyer or cruiser. I am a miner and since I’m a poor miner I will go in my Venture and post my results.
Which part did you not understand ? You can enter, and you can make it out alive and with value if you know how to do it in as safe a way as possible.
That when you’re going to expose your poor little lost venture in nullsec you’ll have a very high chance of waking up in a new clone ? That you don’t have the necessary knowledge yet to do it in as safe a way as possible is the only thing you’re going to prove.
Here’s a few hints: (1) use a noise filament, not a signal filament, and don’t use event filaments which will land you in hostile space that will have a high chance of hunters just waiting for prey; (2) then open the map immediately on landing and check for pilots in space and number of jumps in at least the same constellation, answering the question how high is the chance of anyone nearby and how intense is traffic here. Maybe then you’ll last long enough to mine something. Perhaps you’ll even find a way out again, (3) by using pochven filaments to get you back in hisec. (4) Even better, prepare by finding a high-null wormhole connection. At least then you’ll have a means of escaping alive when things turn hot, including npc attacks, or simply to get back with the goods. Now, if you’re really knowledgeable, (5) you’ll prepare by identifying and scouting drifter hole connections, learn how to deal (avoid) the drifters on the k-side of the holes so you’ll have more choices and chances of achieving what you want. And (6) you will of course have the proper intel tools to support your activity, and (7) will be knowledgeable about dodging gate camps and bubbles - which means bouncing off celestials, using safespots and dscan.
And that is just the depth of EvE on one single aspect…
For the rest, sure, you will likely lose the ship. Make it worth your time and ship loss by having fun in the adventure, and for bob’s sake, learn the right things from it.
In EvE, anything that is not in someone’s hangar is up for grabs, unless rules from the group you belong to say otherwise (you don’t steal from corpies/alliance members etc). So you’re very welcome to come and try to get what you covet. That means it’s not off-limits. It means it will be dangerous.
You’re lack of googling skills isn’t my problem.
Have you tried looking?
I don’t have a dog in this fight, so, nothing?
The only thing I’m doing is preventing you from spreading misleading information. Like this idea that “Null sec is off limits.”
Which it certainly is not true. You just have to try different things and find what works.
Speaking of
How could it be illegal? Null sec is not protected by CONCORD nor by each of the empires navies.
Unless you’re drawing some sort of bizarre false equivalency that somehow something that has no legality in a fictional game is construed as illegal in real life? But I can’t imagine you being that daft. Are you?
How is that my problem? Perhaps they should do a bit of research before blinding popping off a filament. EvE is full of mistakes. Some cost more isk than others.
What does this have to do with anything?
Trying to set up a red herring or something. Whatever the case, it’s damn bizarre.
False.
And it’s been established by fact that people infiltrate null sec quite often, to your dismay. And it’s not a fact. It’s an opinion that you’re hell bent on trying to pass off as a fact. But if you want to die on that hill, don’t let me stop you. I’ll keep robbing your ESSs and popping your Krabbers while you loudly proclaim at the top of your lungs that null sec is off limits.
