High Sec Freight Unviable - Ganking Is Too Easy

I agree entirely.

I didn’t realize CCP had nerfed Breacher Pods in High Sec.

According to the Regional Market, the Breacher Pod and the ammo for the Breacher Pod have not been banned for use in High Sec.

My vote is to let the Breacher Pods remain in use in High Sec.

I’ll even go one step further. Fit a Counter-Breacher module to the ship that deploys Guardian Shrike clones to counter infiltration of the ship.

A whole new series of Drone Implants will need to be developed for this new and emergent game play. The new Shrike Clone implants would be based off the Valdimar series of Drone Implants but would be for the Shrike drones.

Once the Shrike Clones have infiltrated a ship, a roll would be made, once to determine if any intel had been retrieved. Basic Intel would be where the ship has traveled within the last 24 hours, basically a hand-held version of a ship scanner.

This type of warfare would be called Shrike Special Operations. A ship mounting both types of Shrike Clones could transfer Shrike Clones and Counter Shrike Clones to other ships being infiltrated while defending their own ship.

The only ships that Intel could be gathered from would be the Cenotaph and Tholos.

Using a Command Destroyer to Micro-jump the Cenotaph or Tholos away would instantly create a disconnection render all Skriker Clones in operatable. Inoperable Shrike Clones aboard a ship that have been disconnected via a Command Destroyer would then appear in the cargo hold of the ship being infiltrated.

Definitely a new and unique emergent game play.

I think there should be some sort of disclaimer when purchasing a freighter, on purchase a caution or advisory should appear such as;

  • CAUTION, YOU ARE PURCHASING A SHIP WHICH SHOULD ONLY BE FLOWN AS PART OF A FLEET, DO YOU WISH TO COMMENCE WITH THIS PURCHASE?

Once that is put in place, that will stop all these nonsense threads because the responsibility for the loss will be the full resposibility of the pilot and not CCP or the game mechanics. It would definitely seem the freighter pilots are difficult to connect with so hopefully something like this should go a long way into the pilot actually investigating why this advisory is in place.

I think it will also help them understand the game a lot better, many of the freighter pilots will still go ahead and buy and solo pilot it wherever, but there will be a conflict in their mind as they were advised to be part of a fleet with this particular ship.

If the fright pilots listen and take an action then hopefully this will get more PVE players investigating PVP, perhaps this could be done via Aura the Eve AI, Aura could advise the make up of the fleet needed to pilot the ship. I think Aura could do more and at least act like an AI instead of saying nonsense like “look a new Destroyer” which doesn’t help anyone.

Even a link to recent ship losses for a freighter placed somewhere within the purchase process might help. Generally CCP could do a little bit to inform pilots of the danger when flying a freighter

Why not just add a warning the first time you undock:

Warning: You are not in a fleet!

I mean, that does seem to be the driving point of people’s “arguments”.

“Either pay people to escort your freighter for the 20~50 jumps to Jita and back, or stop being poor and get yourself another 2~4 accounts to act as scouts/webbers/logi.”

I think the idea makes sense in principle: not to remove risk or responsibility, but to better set expectations. Freighters are a big step up in consequence, and a clear advisory at purchase could push pilots to ask why the warning exists and learn about fleets, scouting, and risk management. People will still solo them and still lose them, but at least it becomes an informed choice rather than a surprise, which fits EVE’s philosophy without softening it.

I will escort your freighter for 10,000,000 per jump, please send the isk and let me know when the convoy is departing. I will assemble the defense fleet.

Well the advisory obviously needs to be before purchase,

They can just add a warning the first time a player logs in:

Warning - This is a multiplayer PvP game!

No additional warnings needed tbh.

Hmmm, you’re a part of the problem if you object to a fair and reasonable advisory. It’s clear that you want gankee’s to be ill informed without a single clue about what they are doing.

I suppose if the advice is followed and then the purchase is cancelled it might be a problem, but if the purchase is cancelled and then at a later date the purchase is made when the pilot is part of a fleet it should promote some interesting PVP.

Gankers will have to do more work to destroy a freighter and the chance of the freighter surviving is higher.

Do you think this is something a CSM could review and then forward to developers if it has merit?

No kidding? You just figured that out, eh?

you forgot the rest of the statement.

I think a key part of Eve is to get players thinking more about how they are going to go about doing something. If I had the choice I would actually prefer to destroy a freighter where it is part of an organised fleet as that is where the technical/skillful battles and gameplay are.

I’d have great fun in identifying and disrupting their logi/energy transfer and hopefully destroying their freighter, this is the real Eve Online, you should try it sometime.

Calm down miner.

There you go…

Hmm, your Killboard looks good actually, I can see you’re a player who doesn’t dock up immediately at the first sign of a balanced fight.

Look, escorting will not be affective against a gank, because the more ships that escort the freighter, the more ganker ships will appear.

I operated a small corporation located in wormhole space. After finding an exit into normal space, which happened to be the deepest -1.0 possible, I made a 30-run jump, in a Mammoth with a cargo hold full of Sleeper loot. I made the run while being chased by two Vindicators for about ten jumps. This was around 2009. Making the same type of jump in this day and age will surely see your ship destroyed.

The best way to get your load through is simple. Fit several Tayra’s with the best Expanded Cargo Hold modules and Cargo Optimizer rigs that are affordable. Fit a cheap cloaking device. Carry inbound and outbound Triglavian filaments that match the destination you want to jump to. Cloak up, wait the 15 minutes then jump out into the closest known destination where you want to drop the load off at.

Gankers have unlimited DPS.

Could you explain that mechanic a bit more?

I don’t understand how that works.

Intuitively I would expext the opposite to happen, so I’m surprised by what you wrote.

You used three generalist words. Figure it out for yourself.

Ultimately if the amount logistically repaired on to the freighter is more than the dps dealt upon the freighter then sit back and relax and wait for concord.

One Osprey cancels out one t2 Catalyst. Antigankers like Dryson have only themselves to blame. If they’d actually try, they could do something.
