High Sec Orca AFK problem solved?

Soo many tears from people trying to be behavior police… people play MMOs to sleep on bridges… people play MMOs to avoid the massively multiplayer part. I personally mine in a mack, risking getting popped at any time, not afk, not trying to throw the fake ass game market, but because I feel like it. Leave the miners alone ffs. so what if your trit haul is worth a mil less this month compared to six years ago. Its a game, those Orca pilots payed money to play this game and are obviously enjoying it enough to stick around, which is what you want. So I have an Idea, lets make it so that those people are griefed into quitting. Which seems to be the HI-sec police’s policy. I don’t like how they play the game so I will grief them until they quit… great plan if you want to kill a MMO. Those AFK miners that are ruining your day are paying to keep the game you love up and running. So get over it.

Calm down, miner.

Just let rorqs in high sec. Problem solved.

orcas and porpoise need to be banned from high sec space period.

No. Absolutely no way.

oh you mean like with carriers?

we found a high sec botter here. get rid of orcas and porpoise in high sec you push botters like this back into ships meant for high sec and succeptable to risk vs reward playstyles.

I hope you have screenshot to prove your claim.

No. Adapt or die.

No they don’t. They are pretty much the only incentive for high sec miners to operate as a group. That’s a benefit to the game, even if they are abused in other ways. Highsec playstyles are as legitimate as low-null.

What we need is a way to discourage bottling that doesn’t ■■■■ on players that are actually playing the game with their crop mates.

Botters suck but a highsec afk orca is only detrimental to our sensibilities. Punishing legit players for their activities will just drive players away from the game. The solution needs to be far more nuanced.

You’re throwing the baby out with the bath water.

There were high sec botters before mining Orcas.
There were high sec botters before Mining Barges.
There were high sec botters before Mining Frigates.

All your solution does is resurrect the great mining Apocalypse fleets of the early 2000s. Botters are mildly inconvenienced. Legit players lose the play style they enjoyed - and nobody really cares if you agree with that play style or not.

I have left eve on and off since registering in around 08 for my first account.

Every game I play gets boring after a while. It’s a game and you go through phases. You leave, go play other games, talking about eve, eventually come back to it and rinse repeat.

Which is strange because it takes ZERO mining skills to mine in an Orca or Rorqual. Maybe that’s the problem - you should have to fly an Exhumer first to fly an Orca (not Porpoise). And to use Excavator drones, you should likewise have high Mining, Metallurgy, Reprocessing.

yes it does.

You should learn to read.

yes it does.

Since I feel like playing the semantics game, to fly an Orca and get 25m3/s you only need:

Spaceship Command 5
ORE Industrial 3
Leadership 1
Mining Foreman 5
Mining Director 1
Drones 5
Mining 4
Mining Drones 5
(1,346,005 SP from fresh character to sitting in an Orca mining this amount)

Here’s what skills you need in a Covetor to get to 25.7m3/s on Veldspar:

Mining 5
Mining Barge 4
Reprocessing 4
Veldspar Processing 4
Mining Upgrades 4
Science 4
Astrogeology 5
Industry 5
Mining Frigate 3
(1,739,800 SP from fresh to sitting in a Covetor at this amount)

Anything wrong with that picture? More specifically, that it only takes one skill level more in mining than a specialized character for much, MUCH more utility, safety, and profitability?

Did you counted time you need to learn skills to pilot Barge and Orca?

and yes you need the mining skills.
look again in the list.

He did.

No, you don’t. You start with mining 3 if not 4. Hardly classifies as mining skill.

So you are saying that “mining” is not a “mining skill” ?

OKAY we have a champion.
