How do you define ganking, pvp and trolling

Ganking is the application of overwhelming force to destroy a player target quickly.

Suicide ganking is as above, but where the ganking party knows for certain they will die as a consequence of their actions due to outside factors.

Griefing is targeting a person or persons explicitly and intensely.

Trolling is being obnoxious about it.

Is there some other way of targeting people ?

Once or occasionally?

What if the target flys a fast align gnosis?

I got my first solo kill last week…in a fast align cloaky Gnosis. More to come !

Damn, these things need nerfed.

850 DPS with Lasers…1100 DPS with Heavy Neutron Blaster, which you can get Void to range of 11km with a few sensor boosters. There’s often a pair of the latter ganking around Sobaseki.

I mean, yes, they are overpowered in DPS…but then so too are Catalysts

They are good for anti-ganking ships too you can really tailor them to all stuff .

My favourite was the fast lock time for pulling gankers out of there travelling fleets .

Killjoy

I see forces are on the prowl so just for clarity I’m happy to be called a killjoy

you mean four tea to is that like a song

O yes, if you lock someone up on a gate in low sec you are sending a polite, lets &$$& (pvp)

PvP - Is just the act of engaging another player in game. HiSec/LowSec/NullSec the where doesn’t really matter.

Ganking - Is the act of successfully killing the other players ship and/or capsule. More often used to discribe a fight where one party didn’t stand a chance or was taken unaware.

Trolling - Is all the trash talk a put downs that fly back and forth on and off the channels and chats.

Actually that too is PvP

I define ganking to the same with pvp because it is.
“Ganking” always requires two or more parties involved, thus it is player vs player gameplay.

If you define this term “gank” for example as Oxford does, it isn’t any different than any other player vs player scenario/gameplay/event in game. There’s always less experiences and more experienced parties involved. Always. So why do we keep on ranting about this all mighty evil ganking?

I’ve posted the following on other topic but, here is a example list of gameplay content where “ganking” also happens:

  • Market trading PVP via manipulating prices
  • PVP via shooting and destroying ships taking place in low-security system
  • PVP via shooting and destroying ships taking place in null-security system
  • Manufacturing PVP via driving down or up system cost index
  • Planetary Production PVP via deploying/destroying customs offices
  • Mining PVP via bumping others from belt so your group can mine everything
  • Mining PVP via shooting and destroying the other parties ships so you or your corporation/alliance can mine all the ore for yourself.

List goes on… See where i’m going with this?
The game mechanic and design called “High-Security space” doesn’t make any difference what so ever to the topic as a whole.

“Trolling” doesn’t have anything to do with pvp. Trolling is happening everywhere all the time.
Good example is Jita local chat. Trolling is just that. Trolling. Who knows why some feel the need or that and others don’t. My personal take is that after you destroy someones ship and you’ve possibly notice that the player wasn’t experienced, chat with them in a friendly manner explaining things and teaching some basics and so on and so forth. You can’t control if he listens or not. For my experience the players who get their stuff stolen or/and ship blown up are the worst what comes to “trolling” and being “toxic”. The treats are real. Like go kill yourself real.

Because high sec suicide ganking for the most part is evil,

Alright, listen up, team! Let me break it down for ya in a way that even F1 monkeys could understand. So, you’ve got this list, right? But most of the stuff on there? Not even close to what we’d call “ganking” in the arenas of EVE.

PvP in EVE usually comes with its own set of rules, ways to counterplay and all that jazz. Like, if those null miners get jumped, they’ve got options to hunt down the attackers and give 'em a taste of their own medicine.

Now, when things start escalating into full-blown wars, that’s a whole 'nother ball game. Recently, there was this one group that pushed things too far and got the whole galaxy riled up against 'em. But trust me, nobody was calling it ganking.

Let’s rewind a bit to where it all began. High-sec ganking? Yeah, that’s like the OG move, right? Bumping miners, can flipping – that’s the kind of stuff CODE used to pull. They were all about griefing, scamming, and causing chaos, playing the bonus room , And let me tell ya, some of those guys were straight-up evil, banned-for-life material.

Remember those dark days when they’d go after streamers just for kicks? It was messed up, man. But back then, there wasn’t much anyone could do to stop 'em.

Before the big changes hit, if you even thought about going up against CODE, you’d have mercs knocking at your door in no time. Some high-sec groups wouldn’t touch 'em with a ten-foot pole, afraid of what might happen if they did. Even banning members talking on the forums, I know right like wtf

I was there from the get-go with Anti-Ganking. We fought tooth and nail against those space bullies. But it wasn’t easy, lemme tell ya. They’d try everything – infiltrate our ranks, bribe our leaders – you name it.

And let’s not forget about the suave operator who came before yours truly, (Aiko) offering skill injectors like they were candy. But I stayed true, resisting the temptation to switch sides, even when the offers got sweeter than Zaera Keena,s pancakes.

Sure, things have shifted since the CODE meltdown. New faces, new factions – some good, some bad, and some pretending to be one when they’re really the other. It’s like they found a loophole in the rulebook and ran with it.

A bunch of us Anti-Gankers have hung up our capes, myself included. It was exhausting, always playing catch-up, never getting ahead. But hey, who knows? Maybe it’s time to dust off the old blaster and jump back into the fray.

So, to wrap it up, just remember: ganking ain’t your run-of-the-mill PvP. It’s sneaky, it’s underhanded, and it’s all about bending the rules to get what you want. And trust me, you don’t wanna mess with someone who’s mastered that game.
