78% of those polled spend their time on PvE… In excess of 50% of players spend their time in high-sec and 35% of players in null-sec…

Is someone who is part of a null sec alliance but also has a HS incursion alt for ISK counted as a HS player, a NS player or both? And what if they have multiple alts?
Anyone’s guess - but probably some, to be sure.
This seems pretty clear. The poll isn’t asking what each of your alts do. It’s asking what ‘you’ the player do. It also isn’t drawing “either/or” lines with the questions, as in, “you’re either a PvE or a PvP captain”.
It’s asking how much PvE ‘you’ do. So if you have 10 alts and 7 of them are various types of PvE and 3 of them are pure PvP and you spend equal time on each of them, then you do the “50% or higher PvE” answer.
If you have 6 alts, and 5 of them are PvE and only 1 is PvP, but you spend 80% of your time on that PvP captain, then the answer is 10% or higher.
I doubt many players accurately track how much time they spend doing what activities, but it’s not that hard to make a rough guesstimate how much time you spend overall doing either PvP or PvE.
Although the poll is kinda moot anyway since CCP has published multiple data over the years showing that the player base as a whole does much more PvE than PvP.

Eve Online has no single activity that is exclusively “PVE”.

I was talking about the other poll Arthur mentioned, not this one.
Abyssals get pretty close, but luckily those too are connected to the universe of EVE through traces, and as result also an opportunity for PvP.
