How to fix the Lack of New Players

Eve is going to die if it doesn’t get new players. Lets be serious here. Average player base is what 40? We arent going to live forever, and seeing how some of you are I am surprised most of you lived this long…

Anyway FC is finally pushing for more “friendly” places to help attract the newer players, but once they leave there. all the Older games just go “cool welcome to the thunderdome” and will harass, them or try to scam them. Which anyone see the younger group of players? they will quit. Then what?

So why not fix a few of the things to help curve the constant harassment?

1 - If you remote boost someone giving them instant lock you are now a criminal if they attack a innocent. You are assisting someone in a crime. Area boosts like mining/shields does not apply to this, only target boosting. (Curves HS Ganking and generally makes sense, you are a accessory to the crime) This is not instant Concord this is simply criminal status.

2 - If you blow up a innocent ship, Your party does not get loot rights. Meaning the gankers now has to risk their ship to loot the remains. Want the loot? Take the risk of looting it. Your choice there bud. No more free rides cause i felt 5x10m catas are worth your loot now i can safely take it with no consequence. (Curves ganking, also again Not instant concord, just criminal status)

3 - Mission L3 and below → ONLY the mission runner can loot the mission loot. (Curves harassing lower level missions, which newbros will run. L4+ should not change)

4 - Scamming in the Newbie zones is 100% forbidden, caught doing it results in admin consequence. (Caught spamming/scamming/hypernet all in newbie zone area you are muted->banned. Let them learn the game in peace) (Faking contracts claiming 1m but putting 1b or something like that is what im referring to. Keep that crap in Jita

5 - Hypernets automatically in a special chat you have to choose to join, lets be real local spam is annoying and if there is a chat that someone can put it in and players can join by choice, will curve it and make local more useful especially for lowbies. (I do enjoy the filters though)

6 - Stronger Security Status punishment. the same person shouldn’t beable to camp a location for 2 days and blow up innocents and never really care bout security status. (TBH Idk how to balance this one, its just funny watching same 3-4 people outside Jita blast ships all day and still no real punishment besides losing a ship and earning millions)

Doesn’t this already happen?

Hmm, now that I think of it it might not… I’m not sure how you’d make that work with the current crimewatch system. Maybe you’d have to be red flagged to lock up another player who isn’t suspect or in a limited engagement with you?

How does EVE handle it with remote reps? Does the heal just get cut off immediately in the case of a suicide gank if the logi ship is green flagged? I know that’s not a perfect substitute, since the issue with boosting is the effect is already over by the time damage is applied, so the only fair way to punish a player in this instance is to make them flag yellow or red in order to lock other players who aren’t already flagged up themselves.

Maybe instead of making them a criminal, remote boosters of suicide gankers just get suspect flagged, which would only require a yellow flag for prelocking other players. I think that’s more reasonable.

This is already the case. The wreck is yellow for everyone but the owner of the wreck.

Nope does not. If you are in a fleet with people and your fleet members blow up a ship, that wreck is NOT yellow, it is White. that is why you have people with orcas and transport ships sitting near where they gank players in HS. So they just loot it all.

Oh no I loss 10m ship.. I just looted 500m from your wreck and i didnt endanger anything else of mine. Yup…

Your premise is already wrong. 50% of the playerbase are of age 30-40.

Data presentation from FC:

I’ve watched looters turn suspect after grabbing the stash. maybe it’s changed since then, but that would be a weird change.

If they are in same party as the killer, they do not. If they arent they turn suspect. Its why you will see a Orca or hauler near by during or right before a major gank to grab it all and clean up the aftermath.

how about you just concentrate on playing the game and let FC deal with gaining new players huh?

Would you like to know why EVE isn’t retaining new players? Those of you on this forum who know me know exactly what I’m going to say, but I’ll save you from a diatribe about the mentality of the current generation of gamers…for now.

Long story short, EVE wasn’t made for the Fortnite generation…

Wouldn’t new players effect us all? Thats more people to play with?

Well, he is right. If suicide gankers can collect the loot without suffering a suspect flag, that is a problem. I’ve always assumed they did get flagged after picking up the loot. Also, doing any kind of remote assistance to a ganker, should at the very least get you suspect flagged.

Those are in line with the current game design and should be implemented, if they aren’t already in game.

dude, the fleet mechanics have always been there to allow anyone in fleet to loot each others wrecks.
i mean hell thats how a lot of players started was fleeting and looting/salvaging behind mission runners.

Providing remote assistance to Suspects, Criminals, outlaws or players in a limited engagement will also result in a Criminal Timer, with the respective CONCORD reaction in High Security Space

Posts like this are what Exordium fosters and brings into the game (yes, I know this char’s over 3 years old). Clueless, uninformed, not willing to inform themselves before posting rants.

Points 1, 2, 3 are already in the game. Every action described already gives a criminal or suspect flag, and knowledgeable players know how to circumvent those or use them to their advantage. Suicide gankers cannot loot wrecks themselves without suspect flag, neutrals cannot do it either. The wreck of a gank target is yellow for everyone but the gank target. Everyone who loots it, goes suspect and can be engaged freely. The number of dying DSTs on gank grids shows that.

Point 4 is already in the rules for Exordium.

Point 5 has nothing to do with newbs and is a CCP owned scam scheme. They are not going to change that.

Point 6 is already a thing and the compensation to keep your sec status high enough is costly.

Exordium is breeding this kind of density into the game and it is not going to end well for EVE.

No need to be a jerk. If people asking questions/voicing opinions (no matter if they’ve been stated dozens of times before) offends your sensibilities so much then scroll past and go on with your life. No need for the snark and rudeness. It’s no wonder why this game’s playerbase have a deserved reputation for being toxic a-holes.

No, scrolling past posts like this only makes matters worse. This behavior is what breaks EVE and drives newbs away. Educating and teaching them about proper gameplay procedures and replacing their wrong assumptions and deductions with what’s really going on helps them. People who scroll past posts like these or reinforce wrong assumptions are the real jerks.

Plus, this guy is not a newbie at all. He’s been in the game for over 3 years. It’s quite ridiculous that he does not know basic gameplay rules and procedures after all this time. No wonder with people like you who rather scroll past rants instead of correcting their false believes.

EVE offers free (Alpha) accounts, so I’m not sure beyond marketing to attract more new players what else could be done. I think the issue is new player retention.

Various game mechanics could also be improved/overhauled, and of course new content would always potentially attract older players back.

I’ve learned even if it says “3 years” it could just be someone who logs on plays some then goes.. nope still crap like this or that then logs off"

1 - Like you said, more vet players are just fast so it looks like they are boosting for instant lock but they just disengage the booster fast.

2 - honestly. I still question this one, I’ve seen Safety in Jita and still have No criminal after they loot a wreck or they just instant dock which shouldnt beable to dock while criminal. why would they let you dock into a system you are criminal at? that always puzzles me… “We dont like you, so we will let you stay here” dafuq…
3 - I didnt think there was anything stopping you from looting someone elses mission loot besides going criminal. Its been awhile.
4 - Neat, Honestly havent been there yet myself. Is it pretty?
5 - but this isnt CCP anymore LOL…
6 - I am curious bout this myself.. I’ve seen people at -2 in systems and seem like it doesn’t effect them at all.

Again as i mentioned, if they are in a fleet, they can loot wrecks without punishment. I used to let others loot/salvage my L4 missions as others did too before the alpha/omega changes

Because the alternative is that you and all your crew die in the emptiness of space.

Stations are safe havens against the harsh world outside, so they can’t deny you docking rights for long for some minor crime.

If you’re above -5 you can dock any ship in a station, but the gateguns and police will engage you. They need to notice you on grid and then lock and engage you, so if you keep warping about they don’t get a chance to. But if you sit still they will shoot you.

Looting does not give a criminal flag, it gives a suspect flag. A suspect flag has no bearing on whether or not anyone likes you, it simply allows other players to shoot at you without a concord response. That’s it.
