Before you do that, it would be sensible to make a new thread and start over, with those ideas being the topic, instead of gathering new ones. That way you can gather more perspectives, no matter how stupid. Repeating the process is going to help simply because it allows to go deeper.
Yes, I’m seriously telling you what you should be doing (sorry), because doing it this way is actually the correct approach. You gather seemingly worthless rock, refine, refine, refine, maybe combine different types of rocks, keep refining and eventually, maybe, you’ll find gold.
No, this is what CCP is doing by following the methodology of boiling frogs. They did learn their lessons from trying to change matters quickly / deeply in the past.
I have mailed ccp several times before and I am happy to say that some of my ideas( or parts of them) is now ingame. So mailing them does work, but I also must say that I have mailed them a lot since 2004.
This thread was more me trying to get others ideas involved with my own to make another impact( but not only with my ideas this time).
I am so far very happy with some information iv gathered, and it works well with my plans.
If you’re going to summarize and start a new thread, I have a suggestion:
Start two independent threads:
One for new players
One for experienced players
and try to keep the vets out of the new player thread.
It’s not really necessary to keep new players out of the “the thread”, but it wouldn’t hurt to use the same formulation you use in the new player thread.
The reason the split is essential is that many vets believe that anything that helps new players will ruin the game for them. The symptoms of that are all over this thread: it has more posts arguing for “no change” than there are constructive posts.
Note that even in the (extremely) unlikely event that the bittervets are right - i.e. that concessions to newbies will affect them negatively - there should still be a separate newbie-centric discussion.
The usual rules (paraphrased):
First a creative exchange, then filter for practicality
Balance for opposing interests last
Sabotaging the creative process guarantees a poor result.
Doing things in the right order doesn’t guarantee a good result of course, but at least there’s a chance
PS: More threads are possible - e.g. you could argue “attract new players” and “keep new players” each deserve their own topic. But two threads might be manageable. More than two, probably not.
This will trigger people I guess.
But. I liked the casino stuff, that was actually the only thing that brought down my isk enugh to keep up the income within the game. Nowdays it just fills up.
( saying this I know casino dead forever)
Just putting that out there. I want that feeling back haha
My understanding of the reason behind that change was that those missions were farmed a lot by Alpha bots. So because of that change we will now have (a bit) less ISK inflation and fewer bots doing that specific thing.
If you were an Alpha pilot doing those missions for money I get that this change can be annoying, but there’s lots of other things to do as well. Or you could become Omega.
Anyway, I don’t see active measurements against against bots like this one as a reason to quit EVE. On the contrary, it means CCP cares about the botting problem and is willing to take action.
And here you are calling people liars and psychopaths and you are worried about the words Nazi or Hitler. Check yourself please.
Straw man much? I have defended “griefing” aka ganking. But not at all on these grounds.
There you go again. You can stop sitting on your high horse of virtue and reasonable discussion now.
Now you are doing genetic evaluations over the internet. What kind of asshole does that make you?
Stop worrying about new players. This is a classless sandbox game, any attempt to improve the game for a specific class of players can be exploited by older more experienced and richer players.
They have done this actually. Used to be I could use an Ishtar with heavy drones and warp into the mission site, get aggro, turn on my tank, put out my ogre IIs and then go AFK. Come back clean up the mission area, turn in the mission and rinse and repeat. This strategy does not work anymore.
With bridges and jump drives in NS this is not really feasible generally speaking. And do we really want this? Escalating battles has given CCP some pretty good press and been quite a bit of fun. And HS already has this to some extent in that HS gates will not let capitals through them.
And why is everyone is so focused on control. People bring up authoritarianism and then turn around and say, “I need to set boundaries and limits on how other people play this game.” Hmmmm
You all forget the main laws in eve regarding to some people:
§ 1: DO NOT TOUCH ANY GAMEPLAY I’M BEEN USED TO BECAUSE THIS WILL KILL EVE.
§2: EVE WILL DIE IF MY INTEREST IN PLAYING IT DIES.
§3: THE TERM “THIS IS NOT EVE ANYMORE IF THEY CHANGE IT THIS WAY” SHOULD BE USED IN AT LEAST EVERY SECOND SENTENCE TO MAKE CLEAR HOW DANGEROUS EVEN THE MERE THOUGHT OF CHANGING YOUR GAME IS.
Follow those paragraphs in every reply to one who dares to suggest changes that scratch even on the surface of the status of 2003,the status when eve was great last time.
The status of 2003 is the ONLY status eve works and NO ONE should dare to change this.
Make this clear in EVERY answer you give and devalue EVERY post of them because they are just filthy carebears that want to annoy YOU,the ONLY player that KNOWS how to play eve right.
It’s dead Jim, let it go.
This game died when it went ftp, FTP games depend on very large numbers to make money, and at best, this game never had enough to survive as one. FTP games depend on a tiny number of players to support the game “Whales”, in this game, all the whales at the top have enough isk and items to never spend a dime…
The game has seen it’s day, it’s not going to magically grow the huge population needed to make it in FTP land.
. . . then in what way are you qualified to judge who or what is or is not helpful? If you can’t fix a broken leg, then how does that make you qualified to decide who or what can or cannot fix a broken leg? If you know how to “fix” EVE, then why are you even in this thread? Go fix our game so we can play a better game. If you don’t know how to “fix” EVE, then you are not any more qualified than anyone else in the thread to tell us how to fix it . . . by your own logic.
