I wouldn’t be so quick to pick other people up on stuff that you do yourself.
You did that when you dismissed the first reply of the thread, which incidentally was not made to belittle the OP but to clarify the mechanics in play, and every other on topic reply that doesn’t agree with your opinion too.
Anybody who knows and remembers me knows I lean to the side of content and interaction. That said I think salvage is broken. It doesn’t really promote conflict as is. It needs a method like looting yellow wrecks to promote a chance for non concordable conflict between 2 parties.
So if you’re not encouraging him to stop playing this game or dismissing his opinion about the current game mechanics then why even post that sarcastic remark?
Sigh already derailed. Other than the rants and whining the salvage issue is actually a good point about not having enough options to retaliate. Maybe I’ll start a thread dedicated to the issue
I do think all salvage including trig salvage needs to follow the same rules of looting a yellow wreck. But I think it would be cool for those that like salvaging that all wreck go blue after 45 minutes or so. Not sure what the current timers are for wrecks to despawn. Maybe have wrecks go blue after 45 min to a hour, and last for another hour. This would make salvaging more of a respectable activity. As it is now it’s either thieves or just for the ones that cause the wreckage.
It all depends on how you value salvage, the OP was willing to shoot at a salvager if they had been suspect so there’s definitely a conflict opportunity to be had, on the “downside” it would further open up opportunity for mission invaders.
It could be a case of be careful what you wish for.
Mission invaders go suspect looting as is. I liked the way jump units worked. The gave a kill right over it that you could make public, bank for later or use then and there
You know me, I like conflict, for you it’s fights, for me it’s the supply chain opportunities.
I have no problem with your suggestion, whoever engages in it with the aim of getting fights would gimp themselves slightly by being either a drone or a high slot down, but hey I have faith in our nefarious brethren.
The real downside would be people moaning about how a pesky salvager wrecked their wtfbbqpwn PvEmobile with a frigate of top of the existing moans about getting wrecked by a looter with a frigate.
To be fair, whether the OP realised it or not, his concern has cropped up almost daily since 2003; the current mechanics governing loot and salvage flagging have been in place since late 2012, they’re far easier to understand than the spaghetti that came before.
We’ve seen this subject so many times that we’ve lost count, CCP’s line on it has always been “You’re not meant to feel safe in hisec”. Some may disagree with CCP, but what they say goes. As a result of being jaded by so much exposure to the subject we’ve become flippant about it.
Now the OP comes from WH space, where the rules are very different, and really simple, do unto others, before they do unto you. Hisec engagement criteria may seem convoluted to the OP but that is because he is unfamiliar with them.
Now that he appears to have calmed down if he asks how it works, someone will probably explain in a clear and easy to understand way.
Whether or not the subject has been brought up a million times before it’s still not conducive to either discourse nor reputation to start with the “can I have ur stuff”, “this is not the game for you”, or “HTFU nub, get gud or GTFO” crap.
