I gave EVE a try --cannot recommend to new players

that takes talent. Non-smoker myself, not because I object to smoking, just that I have enough other expensive habits.

This is pretty much my only one.
I love good coffee, but I can live without it.

Fun Fact: Coffee is the second most traded thing in the world.

What are your habits?

Leather working, Cigar Box Guitars, 3D, 3D Printing…
is there such a thing as good coffee?? if it tasted even remotely like it smelled, that would be one thing… instead of “if is smells like this, why the hell does it taste like that”

Actually a kind of funny tie in to the thread…
Coffee is a bit like EVE… promises one thing on the tin, quite different when it’s served.

Eve promises a hostile world where everybody can be complete jerks to each other.

… or are you referring to those dumb friendship/teamwork ads they sometimes run?

It’s an aquired taste, but not all coffee tastes equal.
There’s really damn bitter coffee out there no amount of sugar could potentially save …
… but it also depends on how it’s served.

A Latte is different to a Melange or an Espresso shot, etc.

A bit of that yeah… They promise a sandbox where you can do ‘anything you like’ so long as what you like is something they approve of.

I like a good dark tea, or cola…
but I’m odd for strong tastes. I like Rye, and Bourbon and Whiskey, as well as Porters and Stouts, I don’t think you could pay me enough to drink an IPA though… closest are a few Lager’s like Fosters, or an Amber Boch

Other so called sandboxes are far less of a sandbox than EVE ONLINE.
It has a much higher degree of freedom compared to anywhere else.

There is nothing anti-sandbox about CCP implementing Triglavians as a form of content.
They’re adding sand by providing the sandbox itself with a dynamic element.

EVE is stretching the definition of a sandbox out. EVE ONLINE is actually the only game worthy of being called a sandbox, or even an MMO … well, except for Dual Universe, I guess. I’m not aware of any other game that comes close to what EVE allows.

CCP is changing the game towards being more alive and adaptive to what the players are doing. I personally really don’t mind NPCs which actually feel alive. I think that’s amazing! The fact that they’re not so easy to beat makes it even better. NPCs in an MMO which feel “alive” and actually pose a threat are, as far as I know, a novelty.

well, meaning more the whole “you can sandbox any way you want, so long as it’s PVP” trend.

Tea. I like tea as well.
The only alcohol I drink is rarely a glass of red wine …
… and occasionally rum in my cacao.

Well, that’s the thing with sandboxes. This is realistic. EVE’s a jungle.
All the other games, which artificially restrict interactions, are less of a sandbox than EVE.

ahh, Rum can be hit or miss, there’s a local distillery that makes a white rum you can drink neat… of course, they have bourbon barrel aged rums, and same for some beers and lagers.

One thing I have noticed in some space games… why do they insist on giving the most butt ugly ships the best meta?

I have no idea. I don’t play these games and really have no intention to.

Ahh… to bad more ships can’t look like the Slicer, or Minmatar shuttle… instead you get “the best explorer ship, the Heron, that looks like you should be using it to get UHF/VHF”

Hahahahahaha

The minmatar shutte looks awesome.
A bit like Tie Fighter/Interceptor.

Makes sense, to go with their Slicer x-wing… the Gal’s got the B wing

This has become my longest continous conversation I’ve had on the forums since at least 2015.

is that a good or a bad thing?

Myrmidon?
