That came long after the battleship and my lowsec activity, in 2012.
it seems I hear a lot of āoh, they are flying an X, so that means their fitting is Yā in game.
People are extremely one-dimensional when it comes to this ā¦
⦠because most arenāt capable of learning how to actually fit a ship.
They fit generic fittings developed by others, because they canāt think for themselves,
or refuse to do so, or donāt know the value of being able to do so.
I surprised some with how effective a Punisher could be with twin 125 Rails⦠Folks assumed Amarr ship would be rocking lasers, but the Punisher isnāt bonused, and the extra Cap they rock for using lasers means can run twin armor reppers
This was my experience when I first joined with my main:
Before I joined EVE, I did a LOT of research on the game by visiting forums and reading articles online, so I did have an idea of what to expect when starting the game. But honestly, the only way to understand the game fully is to just get into it and experience it. A corp member can only hold your hand for so long, so itās best to just dive into the game head first. You need to accept the fact that you WILL lose a ship sooner or later and also accept the fact that it is part of the game. Trust me, you wonāt be as upset when you lose your ship to Gankers when it happens. Just shrug it off, learn from your mistake, and move on with a better strategy.
Hereās what I went through in the first few months:
- No clear instructions or tutorials on how or what to do. Itās a miracle I reached Jita safely!
(obviously this has changed tremendously, so thank you CCP) - Fitting suggestions were non-existent, so I had VERY horrible fits in the beginning
(another major change for newbies was added to help with fittings) - Multiple expensive ships lost since I did not understand ganking fully, until it happened enough times
(again, I knew the risks of playing EVE before joining, so it didnāt bother me as much) - Relied on auto-pilot for long trips (a HUGE no-no) and would set it and forget it
(either my ship would make it to itās destination or get ganked, whateverā¦) - Flew ships through low-sec thinking the sentry guns would protect me from Gangkers
- Tried blowing up player ships in 0.5 Security System, thinking it was Low-Sec (yellow color; lost ship to Concord)
- Engaged Autothysian Lancers and Drifters thinking they were belt rats (lol)
- Entered null-sec after reading mutiple threads about the dangers, without fully not understanding how warp bubbles worked
- Mining in a venture thinking I would make a ton of ISK
- Training the wrong skills for the path I was choosing to go with
Iāll agree that the game caters more to Veteran and Pirate players. But what can you really do when the top seats on CSM care about their corporations own agendaās and push for changes that will give those corps advantages? Donāt get me wrong, not all CSM reps are like this. There have been MANY good (and current) CSM members pushing for changes for new players, but the majority and loudest will always win.
The game HAS gotten really good improvements now that I wish I had when I first joined. And it would definitely be nice to have a starter area for new players where they are safe from the dangers that lie ahead in order for them to learn the game properly without fearing that their ship will get blown up (I guess thatās what corps are for, right?). But then again, this is EVE⦠Adapt or Die mentalityā¦
Great post, yet ā¦
No, it wouldnāt.
You are proof of that.
I am proof of that.
A million others are proof of that.
All those who require this ā¦
⦠wouldnāt last long in EVE anyway.
Your right and I definitely agree with you.
Hard to please everyone unfortunatelyā¦
I felt pretty safe on my first day in the starter system. Nobody ganked me there.
I felt pretty safe on my first month in high sec. Nobody ganked me there.
After that I moved to null and now high sec is a scary place with way too many scary neutrals and war targets and trigs. At least in null I know who wants to shoot me and who I can shoot without getting killed by NPCs.
I had to do a toilet break when I was about to jump to lowsec ā¦
⦠to sell some cheap crap to some NPC buyorders ā¦
⦠in my freshly bought iteron.
That sign, warning me ā¦
Best moment ever.
yah i ā ā ā ā my pants in HS lol
Eve online : Came for the fap, stayed for the story.
Oh, whatās so very wrong with that?
you mean besides using infidel guns on a punisher ?
Autocannon Punisher says hello.
No decent weapons bonus, so why the hell not
The Myrmidon is similar, no turret bonuses and the armour rep bonus is pretty crap; it works equally well as a shield tanker with silly turret choices.
Artillery autocannons?
