I hope you guys aren’t referring to that BS presentation by CCP Rise from 5 yrs ago. During their 2019 Invasion World Tour, CCP Hilmar recently updated their stats on New Player Retention and even admitted there’s a major problem with it.
No flowers to water, no fruit trees to harvest, barely any pink at all, even on ship skins and clothing. Money is hard to get. Log in rewards suck. Gawd, is this a video game or accounting software?
CCP apologist or just a deflection to make DMC look bad?
Hard to tell.
Either way, it had nothing to do with the topic at hand. New player retention in EVE. Not gaming in general. Plus pulling random statistics out of your ass does not endear you to anyone but the people with the same implicit bias you are showing.
That player retention chart is almost 1:1 with the statistics Valve put out a few years ago, including the whole “only half of all users ever open any particular game after purchasing it” bit. Not just for MMOs, but for games in general.
EVE is dying, guys, they can’t hold on to even a quarter of their new players! We’ll never reach 60 million active subs like MapleStory did at this rate!
What were you saying in another thread about reading what you want to see?

He’s portraying Eve’s retention rate as bad, pointing out that it’s about average is both on topic and relevant.

So why are you taking me to task but not DMC? Are you perhaps biased in the way that you accuse others of?
The fact remains that the average retention rate for other MMOs is about the same as that of Eve, especially in the F2P and freemium sector which it is now part of.
