Welcome to the game, I got blasted going the same thing in Ami, and then the guy askme to join his corp.
Mining or exploration or mission running in high-sec or in deep blue null-sec.
Nobody really specifically hunts down ventures. More likely the guy was looking for a fight, saw a venture in a belt and decided to go check it out and got a free kill.
Anyway, welcome to Eve. You’ll notice there are a lot of butthurt cry babies in this game who wish they were playing Fortnite. It’s a wonder with all the carebear-friendly farming simulators out there, that they specifically choose the single hardcore PvP space MMO on the market.
I’m not going to try and understand it. But it is mildly entertaining.
True. And you’ll also notice there’s a lot of smug dickwads hunting T1s in their Interceptors, padding their killboards with dozens (or hundreds) of corvette kills, trying to convince themselves and others that they’re ‘apex predators’.
And a lot of these people don’t even seem to notice that the vast exploration, industry, and market options in EVE, some of which are also relatively unique to EVE, drive far more interest and activity in the game than the PvP.
But then, nobody ever accused those players of being all that self-aware…
Yes but whether you like it or not, the PvP is a part of the game. That’s the point. As a solo PvPer I was ganked countless times myself and I had to overcome on a daily basis the cowards, bums and wannabe l33t PvPers who sit on gates and stations and gank shuttles all day.
Yeah they’re trash at the game too. I love the sandbox and industrial side of the game. But the simple fact is you need to get good and put your big boy panties on and learn how to avoid getting ganked.
Also quit crying like a baby
Boys don’t wear panties.
It wasn’t crying just pointing out the banality, cowardice and hypocrisy of PVP bigots. Has nothing to do with whether PVP is part of the game.
It’s actually one of the most annoying things about this game - not the gankers, but the WHINERS.
Why is it that I literally have to explain to you people that this is a MULTIPLAYER GAME DESIGNED AROUND PVP?
And there is only one game like it, and people actually want to try and change it.
It’s one of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen.
Do you realize how many single player games there are out there? It’s countless
You could be playing any one of them but instead you go to the one hardcore PvP space game and cry about getting ganked
It’s disgusting at this point. I’m coming back to the game just to gank every one of you.
And then maybe I’ll go anti-ganker after that just to prove that the competitive multiplayer of this game is not only diverse but rich in role-playing potential as well. Good grief. Literally.
Well, mostly you have to keep explaining it because you’re wrong.
It’s weird that way, when you try to explain a falsity, that you have to do it over and over again. It’s almost as if reality won’t change no matter how many times you lie about it.
EVE is a multiplayer game “designed around” several different aspects of gameplay. One of those aspects is PvP. Another one is PvE. Another one is corp and empire building. Another one is exploration. And by far the largest one, is the player-built economy.
You’re just one of those ignorant posers who thinks the part of the game they prefer most is the only significant part. Despite years of CCP’s own data showing it’s not true, and that PvP, especially your own particular brand of it, is by far a minority activity in the game.
The game isn’t “designed around” it. Hell, the game doesn’t even particularly support PvP all that well. It’s got all kinds of limiting factors and brakes on it.
Clearly, you’re just here to pose, to brag, and to attempt to provoke some “carebear tears” so you can bravely stand up for the “one sole truth” of PvP as the core of EVE. You’ll even interpret people talking about all the other legitimate aspects of EVE as “carebear crying”. Even though I literally agreed with your statement and called it true, you had to double down, then triple down, on the stupidity and ignorance because you weren’t getting enough attention.
In general I try to avoid feeding the trolls because they just keep coming back for more. But in your case I’ll make an exception. Because sometimes you just can’t see a bubble of festering ignorance hanging out, without feeling the desire to pop it.
PS: Nobody mentioned crying about getting ganked. Well, except you.
The funny thing about his ignorant pretentiousness is that this thread didn’t even start as a whine. O.P clearly stated that it was his fault and should have paid attention.
What’s more is that the destruction wasn’t even a Gank since it happened in 0.3
But braggarts cannot help using every opportunity to swell their chest. Lord knows nothing else of theirs can swell as much no matter how hard they try.
Wow. Take a chill pill, man.
Blocked.
So this is what forum PvP is like? Is this the consensual type?
Looks more like forum tantrum to me.
It’s a natural reaction to an attempt of gas lighting.
Perhaps in the minds of the very simple (which, to be clear, doesn’t refer to you). A poster presented a very biased, self-centered opinion which is apparently something they’re kinda hung up on, and apropos of nothing. Seeing as the thread is actually the opposite of ‘crying’ about PvP.
I agreed that what they mentioned can be sometimes the case, and also presented the other side of the coin they were trying to flip here. At which point the poster, having failed to understand the point, but apparently driven to rage by the mere existence of other opinions, felt the need to erupt into a spewing fountain of insult and misinformation.
I think the world’s seen enough of where that leads, recently. It doesn’t merit further ‘debate’.
I think you might have quoted the wrong post in your second reply.
Edit: Your edit clears it up I guess, it seemed as if you’re talking about the post mentioning a tantrum.
You’re absolutely right — EVE Online is, and always has been, a hardcore multiplayer PvP sandbox. No argument there.
But maybe take a step back and ask yourself why, after 22 years, the game still hasn’t cracked mainstream popularity and has roughly the same (or fewer) active players it had a decade ago.
Could it be that the “adapt or die” mantra, while great for the few who thrive in it, has also alienated waves of potential players who might have stuck around if the experience wasn’t quite so “sink or swim while someone lights your wreck on fire”?
No one’s saying EVE shouldn’t be PvP-centric — it’s literally the core. But pretending that constructive criticism or discussion about the game’s ecosystem is “whining” is just part of the reason it hasn’t grown much in two decades.
EVE has unparalleled freedom and depth, sure. But if you’re flexing that by telling people to play something else… well, don’t be surprised when they do.
But hey, gank away. You’ll find the same handful of targets you’ve had since 2003.
Thanks for understanding. To be super-clear, it was obvious the poster was dropping the usual “stop crying about PvP in a PvP game ya crybabies” troll bait into the thread (despite it being totally off-topic) because he wanted the opportunity to thump his chest and go off on an unhinged “PvP is everything in EVE!” rant.
Most likely because he hasn’t been able to find anything easy and safe to kill in the last week or so, and his last couple attempts ended in failure. So he came to the forums looking for a place to spew. ‘Tantrum’ appears to be the correct classification.
I agreed that it’s entirely foolish for those players who join a sandbox featuring PvP everywhere, to then complain when the PvP happens to them. But I also feel that failing to understand the dynamics and scope of the rest of the game, and why those parts might appeal to some players but the PvP doesn’t, is equally foolish. Which often includes CCP themselves.
At any rate, I perhaps shouldn’t have taken the bait and fed the troll, and my apologies to the OP for contributing to derailing the thread.
Back on topic: OP, glad you’re on board with the whole “I take a risk every time I undock, and it’s cool if some of those risks don’t work out for me”. Without the risk there’s not much reason to EVE.
Damn. This game really turns people into essayist.
I have nothing to prove in this game, my killboard speaks for itself and as bad as it admittedly is, the simple fact is the game is unplayable for me on my current PC, and despite this fact I was soloing Vexors in my inteceptor in Null-Sec no more than a few months ago.
So excuse me if I lost a couple frigates while playing in the lowest settings on an absolute toaster of a PC, yeah even the best of us have to lose in PvP and I’ve personally never been one to actually care about losing ships in this game.
Not to mention I have done things in this game that have only been done by like, the top 1% of players, and no, my style of flying has absolutely nothing to do with searching for easy kills. If anything it involves searching for fights where I can win as the underdog in a fight that is perceived to be easy for my opponent, either involving my flying in a massively out-classed ship or massively outnumbered.
