I like Ganking

Used to be gang killed. This eventually just turned into any fight that heavily favored one side.

Why should you be allowed to grief newbros in a wormhole?

There’s no such thing as a non-combat ship. Even a Venture can be fitted out for combat…they are called ‘battle Ventures’. Some of the best baiters hanging about outside stations are in ‘non-combat’ ships.

Nooo…that would make ganking the exclusive reserve of multiboxers, as no-one’s going to fit cargo scanners to a Catalyst.

And who gets to decide what is ‘worth it’ ? Not everyone plays Eve as an ISK per hour grind…especially as that just encourages people with lots of ISK to sit back and do no combat. For many the ‘worth it’ is the kill itself.

Some of my most fond moments in EvE was baiting In low sec with battle ventures.

He does. What we have here basically is an insignificant flee that thinks it sets the rules for the dog and it’s pack.

This guy dropped 26 assault frigates on a Vexor, and then he comes here to lecture us on ‘fair fights’ and ‘think of the newbros’.

Do as I say, not as I do.

I’ll answer that question. They were misinformed enough to think a wh was easy pickings missing the player I let mine there who informed me of this intrusion, then my wife’s scout toon launching, then myself lunching in a combat ship on D-scan.

So I would say yes.

There are no ‘innocent’ people in all of Eve. Not one. People are either engaged in blowing others up, or they are involved in some activity the end consequence of which is others being blown up.

This is why I find it so comical when miners say they are just ‘chilling’ in space and how dare anyone PvP them while they mine the very materials that go into making PvP ships and ammo and modules. Heck…they may well even have mined the very ore that made the Catalysts that ganked them !

Now that would be ironic!

Yea the hypocrisy is off the Richter scale!

Ganking only takes place in High Sec. Any location in .4 and below is called PvP.

Meh…the only difference is that Concord show up in 0.5 and above. How on earth does something that takes place after the event determine whether it was PvP or not ?

I agree.

My line of thought is simple.

When your out collecting mats, or isk you are usually assuming a to-be hunted position when you undock.

It doesn’t matter if your the bunny or the fox, the game is afoot and you are engaged in pvp the second your monitoring probes or d-scan, you failed if the Fox catches you by surprise. Can you get to your burrow before the fox pounces on you? Are you tanked enough to survive if it gets its fangs into you?

The gank requires specialized in game knowledge to execute as you are running on a timer between 1-10 seconds to break your opponents hull.

@Gloria_Exercitus

You wouldn’t know PvP if it jumped up and slapped your Proteus in the face.

Ganking doesn’t really exist in a game where PvP is expected, and is the norm, regardless of security status.

When you undock, you consent to pvp, and you understand the risk of loosing a ship.

All high security does is, lowers that risk. But the risk is still there.

That is why suspect hunting, which I do in this character, is one of the most educational activities you can do in Eve. You are the hunter, but potentially also the hunted. There are suspects who deliberately bait…hoping someone will attack. I’ve now developed counter-bait ships…which is a fascinating process.

Another tactic is deliberately targeting people but not firing, especially inexperienced players…and hoping they fire on you and get Concorded. I’ve had people try that one on me too, when I have been suspect hunting.

So there really isn’t any clear hunter and hunted divide in Eve. Everyone is potentially prey. People whine about haulers and miners being ganked, but the reality is that even massive PvP and PvE combat ships get ganked. It’s an unsafe universe out there…as it should be.

Can improve your chances if you shoot them with fireworks (one of the small ones: barium, copper or sodium) then they might think you attacked them and try to retaliate.

Can also work if you have a remote repper module (shield, armor or hull) and you have a PvE timer and lock someone whose wrecks you’ve salvaged or something and just wait for the opportunity to can shoot you, then you rep them and they can easily think a PvP timer just started when they inherit your PvE timer due to the repping.

These can be combined as well.

And they can also be used to compliment your suspect status as they might not shoot you willfully but if they think you somehow was able to attack them be willing to return fire, when in fact they just granted you a limited engagement.
