As much as this would suit the playstyle of many people, including myself. I feel it would be very damaging to the long term player who had stuck with the game through thick and thin.

Yes, I imagine they like it. I think this has a lot to do with hellmar and his personal personality. Its hard to judge the internal nature of a person, but what seems to be the case is that he promotes evil action in eve, while claiming realism. What i find interesting is there is little accountability to it, its almost as if he is saying “ccp is an evil corporation like those in eve, and we’re scamming you right now and you dont know”. He uses false numbers to propagate stupidity, and continue this false dichotomy.
In the end, if what above is true, or not, if they continue to allow suicide ganking in high sec, i can promise the end of this game. Its destructive to eve. Look at my viral forum post that went all over google for evidence of this.
Eve Online has featured suicide ganking and PvP in highsec for over 16 years. Isn’t it a little… foolish? to claim it’s going to kill the game now?
The reality is the whole game is balanced around highsec having risk. Maybe someday CCP will have enough tools or resources to redo highsec and replace/reimagine piracy in highsec, but it would be so much effort to do properly to preserve the economy and game balance it won’t happen any time soon.
They are much more likely to build a completely new space as part of the NPE than to significantly touch highsec itself. Besides, why would you want to delete PvP from one of the major areas of your PvP game? Doesn’t seem like a good game design decision to me.
Dude, if your post goes viral because people can’t believe how dumb it is and link it to share a laught with their friends, then that doesn’t mean anyone takes your idea serious or is in favour of it. Quite on the contrary.
And as Petro already mentioned, suicide ganking is in this game for 16 years and it is still kicking. If anything then the loss of players comes from the never ending nerfs to highsec aggression and thus removal of interesting content.
I will be very surprised if you have any proof of that. “Content”, after all, is those filthy, selfish highsec carebears that you like to prey on, isn’t it? What you suggest must have the opposite effect, by increasing their numbers and motivation to play the game. And this should, in return, increase the predator population.
Now I don’t say that this proves that more Highsec agression leads to more people. It kinda hints at it. But it shatters without a doubt the carebear theory that highsec agression is responsible for the retention issues.
So, now that I have presented the reasons why I think that more highsec aggression is better for the game, I would like the favor returned and see your sources for your claims. And please, can we agree that “gut feelings” and “my common sense tells me” doesn’t count? ok?
No. It’s been killing the game for a while. Look at the impact you had on my corporation. That was a great sign of exactly why your style of game play needs to be deleted instantly from this game.
We’ve been over this. HIgh sec ganking is not the only form of pvp in highsec. If you really have that position, we need to nerf it faster then i think we should, as you are only proving just how game breaking it is.
This is a biest position. CCP is intelligent enough (i hope) to recognize that the majority of their players do not engage in pvp, much less high sec ganking.
I bet if they tried hard, they could generate metrics to link high sec pvp and the drop off of playerbase. It would be a nightmare and absolutely appalling to see those numbers.

Further more, How does ccp exactly link death to quitting the game? This seems like a magically asinine metric.
Again, we cover this. There is no possible way to link death to quitting the game out side of the players themselves telling you “I quit because i did not die”.

I have seen this concept be peddled by ccp many times over the years in many different forms, and every time i call them out on this. I demand ccp prove these concepts true out side of “we said so”, other wise i am calling ccp, and all of its staff liars. THE ONLY WAY TO KNOW THIS IS A SURVEY.
