I’ve been engaged in high sec ganking for the last week, and it’s been awesome fun! The hunting is much more interesting than in low or null. In the latter, you just blap anything that crosses your path. But in high sec, you need to be much more selective, since you’re going to die and take a bigger security status hit. You want maximum isk/gank.

So far, my best hunt yielded a 3b Jackdaw. And I did it in a crappy 10m Thrasher.

Once a space bully, always a space bully.

What does your support contain?

Really, this should be why everyone does what they do in EVE - after all, this is supposed to be a game played for fun! Fun or forget it!

Well. This thread has certainly gone places.

Getting back to the topic raised in the OP, I’m glad that you’ve noticed unhealthy trends in your behavior and sought help for them. As someone with clinical depression, I know just how much it sucks to deal with my neurochemistry actively preventing me from living a full, healthy life.

As for the question of whether or not CODE’s actions are bullying, I think that depends on the individual. I’m certain there are people in CODE. who would fit the dictionary definition of a bully like a well-tailored suit. I’m also certain that there are players in CODE. who only participate for some light-hearted amusement and would be horrified to learn that they were causing someone else genuine emotional anguish.

As far as I’ve been able to determine, James 315 made his “New Code of Halaima” because he wanted to combat the botting and AFK player issues that EvE has been plagued with while also annoying the hell out of people with some particularly meta roleplaying. Unfortunately, as the saying goes, “Any community that gets its laughs by pretending to be idiots will eventually be flooded by actual idiots who mistakenly believe that they’re in good company.”, and CODE’s particular type of roleplaying is inevitably going to attract genuine bullies, sociopaths, and what-have-you who get their jollies by lording it over other players and absolutely love the thought of driving people away from EvE.

I think that even if what CODE. does is legitimate gameplay, there comes a point where it crosses a line into being mean for the sake of it. Where that line is, I don’t know, especially since EvE is the kind of game where players are explicitly allowed to do things that would quite rightly get them permabanned if done anywhere else.

When all is said and done, I don’t think there’s any real harm in CODE. doing what it does so long as everyone involved occasionally takes a moment to ask themselves if they or the players they fly with might be going too far, and if/when someone does go too far they either shape up or get kicked out. It’s not hard, and will probably be good for the game in the long run.

Just a thought.

We’d probably need a CCP dev to confirm it, but I’m pretty sure that the reason they frown on it is because CODE. is too meta for the RP section. James explicitly mentions botting and AFK mining in his manifesto, which - unless I am sorely mistaken - isn’t something that exists in-universe, they’re things that occur due to the medium EvE Online takes place in.

Yes, yes it did, and if it continues we should probably try and keep it on the topic it was made for.

No, don’t go encouraging suicide, please. It’s bad form. Just ask him to stop posting, it’s far more civil.

THANK YOU

I feel like there are too many people who forget that fun is paramount, be they ganker or the one being ganked.

There is nothing amusing with watching miners mine without a mining permit! But we still need to do our job.

He should get a shave first. Low lvl charakter.

The heck, I was a high-sec miner and none of my responses are featured on this. This is some salty bingo…
