Did everyone catch this? Fenris Creations (formerly CCP) partnered with Google DeepMind back in May — Google took a minority stake, and they’re using an offline version of EVE to train AI on long-horizon planning, memory, and continual learning. Hassabis himself called EVE “one of the few environments where questions about intelligence can be explored inside something that already behaves like a living world.”
I’m 100% for this. EVE as a living laboratory for AI research — that’s our game getting the respect it deserves.
Genuinely curious how the community feels about it. Good direction?
We caught it when it was announced, and there was a mention of this fact either in the form of a thread or a post within a related thread.
I am not for the current popular trend of increased dependency and involvement with computer-based systems/software. I’m not afraid of AI (Automated Interface) gaining consciousness or taking over the world, like some are. I just utterly detest it. The reason being my absolute dedication to and love of man. The human being. Flesh and blood. We need to create more systems that elevate humanity, take care of those people in need, provide support and opportunities to our fellow humans. Of which there is increasingly little in the day to day life. Instead these tech enterprises are taking us farther away from real interaction and connection with other people. I don’t support any system like that.
AI is bad and the second luddite revolution can’t come fast enough. I will be there on the frontlines, wielding a pressure washer like a flamethrower in some crowded server room.
I honestly cant think of a single game and community i would want AI to avoid more than this one.
Imagine an AI that has learned human interaction from how we play this game
