I'm not really impressed with what I heard today from CCP Helmar

People say they want engaging PVE but they’re all flying Gila’s and Rattlesnakes which are deliberately designed and balanced to be able to be used by afk braindead zombies. Zero effort, zero engagement, zero achievement.

If they want a more active combat style they should fly beam laser ships. But that takes effort and can’t be braindead gamed.

I didnt say hard, i said not braindead. You never know what the next pocket will contain, and you might know how to deal with any pocket but they are still randomized. Abyssal is fun for a good while, because it is rewarding and challenging enough if you use the higher tier ones, i said challenging, not braindead easy nor hard as ■■■■ darksouls like. There’s a middle ground which keeps you on your nerves and that’s when pve is fun. You cannot afk an abyssal.

Easy and brain-dead go hand in hand.

And even then, players still frequently complain on these forums about the randomness of abyssals anyways.

Good thing they arent easy. Go do some lvl 5-6 abyssals and you’ll see. And guess what, they are still random.

and no matter how good you think you are one day that blinged ship of yours will go kaboon
best pve in eve for sure

I did lose quite a few expensive gilas, most of the time because i didnt pay enough attention. Great time.

Literally dozens of guides on C6’s.

bolded is me.

Oh sure, but when a player kills another player that isn’t paying attention they’re a ‘scrub’.

Yup, because it’s never one player (or rather one account) but it’s like 15 catalysts, maybe, maybe not multiboxxed.

And having a guide on ‘how to’ doesnt make stuff brain dead, because you have to pay attention to the situation. Especially in a randomized setting such as abyssal.

yeah
dude go on sisi , do it once , say , so thats it guys , like and subscribe
you will die … just saying

im not a big fan of carebears , that Tyrannos bloke i kinda like

How many NPC’s shoot you before you die in abyss?

What does the number of enemies have to do with anything?

Not sure why you think I haven’t already done C6’s.

Losing a couple ships whilst you learn is one thing. People’s lose ships in missions whilst they learn. But once you’ve got the knowledge, that’s it. You don’t lose after that. Even @Altesse_Tsukaya says:

The pair of you should stop trying to make out like they aren’t farmed. They are.

Getting back to the attitude of the ‘popular’ game design. Two of the most well received changes in recent history.

First, reducing the auto-pilot warp range to 10km instead of 15km.

Second, the buff to marauders.

You can all take a guess why…

i had a friend that farmed them
them he lost billions in blinged ships and implants
them he lost again
suddenly that 150 million a run doesn’t sound that magical anymore

the thing with random is that you do it fine until you don’t

im not saying its the best thing ever
just saying its nice PVE
probably the best attempt ccp ever made

Fair enough,

But going back to the original context of this discussion, is it going to save eve? Obviously not.

Did it make a dent in the loss of players? Doesn’t look like it.

It’s still useless, honestly auto pilot should be deleted, it’s a noob trap that serves no purpose.

Yeah a weird one imo, didnt expect this. It doesnt make pve more engaging though, simply more efficient i guess.

Still if you want a money making method you need to have it reliable, otherwise the game needs to give you stuff directly. If you risk your expensive ship everytime you try to make some money you’ll obviously end up losing more than you make, unless you can quickly make more than its value, which isnt always the case but abyssals definitely are a good balance of risk vs rewards.

Risk vs rewards y’know, basic stuff. Nowaways the game’s is just not rewarding at all, and it’s quite risky even in high sec.

I wouldn’t say autopilot is useless. Plenty people clearly use it. Even vets, including myself, still use autopilot.

That’s just because your perception is off. You’re used to easy farming of abyssals and that’s what you use as a base line.

Truthfully, rewards have never been higher and hi-sec has never been safer. And player retention is lowest.

Imagine a time when wardecs didn’t require structures and cost 2 million (yes TWO). When gankers could kill 2 barges in a 1.0 in a Thrasher and even claim the insurance for their Thrasher. When you couldn’t create an instance in hi-sec and earn 400+mil/h, you had to run missions. When you couldn’t spawn moon fields and had to make do with plagioclase.

That is literally eve at it’s peak.

The good old days…so many little cuts over the years and now EVE is basically an X game online.

And I forgot, when the game told your enemies whether you were logged in or not.

I really miss the old watchlist.

Yeah. For more realistic combat physics there would have to be some deep, close to the metal computer science algorithm development. Python probably ain’t gonna git it.

They’re heading in just the opposite direction with preset fleet formations (hmmm…multi-boxing) and such.

YES! You could know about them. They could know about you.

“En Garde!”

I have this in no man’s sky. There’s a trick, that still hasn’t been patched after all those years so I’m assuming they’re ok with it, where you get pretty much limitless cash, nanites and cargo upgrades. I did a new play through and used that method, after a few hours I had farmed SO much it all became meaningless and the normal play styles became stale, stupid and “why bother”. Then I used portal adresses to get all the coolest looking ships and…I ran out of reasons to do things.

I quite literally farmed and shortcut my way into boredom and pointlessness. Deleted save, started again.

eve combat mechanics is awesome
so simple yet deep

imagine kerbal space program with guns , would suck a lot

eve is a RPG , its not a simulation, its a representation , like wen you don’t even touch a guy in wow and make damage anyway

you have to git gud in the system and few people do , they say eve combat suck but they are terrible

not saying im good , im ok , have much to improve afther all those years …
